In several threads we have commented on this size. We could centralize on this matter
Flamingo Road Landing in Falcon Crest
Flemingo Road was canceled after the second season Lee Rich one of the founders of lorimar decided that David Selby would join Falcon Crest
David had met Lee when he was playing Dark Shadows.
David said: It was a friend of mine, Lee Rich, creator of "Falcon Crest", who encouraged me to make the move: "Come to us since you already have the costume." It was unknown at the time how long “Falcon Crest” would last. And my character a fortiori. It all depended on the reception of the public. However, I had been encouraged to be cautious when playing the "bad
He was also given carte blanche to create the character.
With him came to Falcon Crest the couple Stephen Black & Henry Stern
Stephen Black commented that David he was actually staying at our house in the Hollywood hills when we started working on Falcon Crest, “He referred to the time when David's family was still in New York and when he looked for a place of his own in Los Angels. “He'd lay around the pool all day reading the scripts, and then we'd come home, and he had read the scripts that we wrote or somebody wrote, and then we were talking, so we hung out. He brought his family out from New York and laid his foundation down there. We'd been really close on Flamingo Road and we were thrilled that we were all going to be working together [again] on this new show.”
The second and third season bibles were modified. The `Diana Hunter and Pamela Lynch characters were created. The hippodrome and cartel boss Jaquelinne plots and the poster plot were the ideas of the pair.
Presumably Robert got upset and got them to leave.
But at the end of the third, Robert was also fired.

The David Selby's characters in Flamingo Road and Falcon Crest were virtually the same. Both Michael Tyrone and Richard Channing were successful business men with few family connections who show up in town seeking vengeance. Similarly John Beck's character in Flamingo Road and Dallas were very similar, they both even drove the same vintage car.

Looking back, it's amazing that Fernando Allende, who could have worked as a Falcon Crest field hand in an earlier season or as Pilar's older brother in later seasons, wasn't called in, but perhaps Lorenzo Lamas shouldn't have had a competitor.

I could have imagined Barbara Rush as Maggie's mother. She would certainly have conveyed the desperation about her gambling addiction well.

Michael Tyrone was very one dimensional. The only scene in which he shows himself to be human is when he helps his father's friend. I think using the cockatoo was to see that Michael could be affectionate with someone. He had killed his sister without remorse
Richard was multidimensional, with a sense of humor and tenderness that Michael NEVER had. Lorenzo Lamas already said that he was a fabulous character because of how changeable he was
When you see the scripts published by the German club, he looks like David fought because
"I never believed he was the man the public would want to hate, like J.R. Ewing in 'Dallas.' There was more to him than the cartoonish villain we wish he was. And if the public felt it, it's because I've succeeded in qualifying my character and letting a little of myself pass through him."
Although there are few scripts by David it looks like he had paragraphs removed, words changed and scenes created.
The very funny night of love between Richard and Terry was his idea

I think Richard Channing was my favourite character on FC.
Like with Greg Sumner over on KL you could never be sure, what they were up to. Because of that multilayered characterisation they were unpredictable and that kept the characters interesting.
And i believe it has a whole lot to do with these marvellous actors, David Selby and Bill Devane.

David, in addition to being a very good actor, was charming and very attractive.
At the beginning of his career, he was an idol for fifteen-year-olds, although he was a man in his late thirties, married with a son.
I never understood why his Dark Shadows fans didn't follow him on Falcon Crerst.

John Beck, as Sam Curtis on Flamingo Road and later Mark Graison in Dallas was thought to be Richard .
Luckily David accepted the role
David gave his character charm intelligence and mystery
He is also a very good actor who has played Tenesse Williams, Artur Miller, Lillian Hellman, Shakespeare.... on the theater
His portrayal of Lincoln in Washington 2009 was highly praised.

I loved Barbara in Flamingo
We didn't have Fernando but we did have Dan Ferro,
I suppose Filerman liked this, but in Dan's case it was a mistake. What did Maggie do, letting herself be loved and even kissing Tommy Ortega?

Who is Robert?
Robert Foxworth (aka Chase)?

I find these threads to be a bit odd to be honest, mostly because they're based on interviews that were conducted in English, then translated to German (or maybe Spanish?) and then back again to English. It ends up being very broken somehow, but maybe that's representative of Falcon Crest as a whole.

Robert (Bob) McCullough was a supervising producer in the first few seasons.

Explains it-- wasn't sure which one was being referred to.

Actually the OP was referring to Robert McCullough supervising producer of seasons 1-3 not Robert Foxworth.

That is true-- had assumed Foxworth based on the text of the OP; appreciate correction.

I see that the user who opened this thread hasn't posted anything in this forum since this comment, so I feel the need to say this: I get why those whose native language is English, or who grew up watching subtitled English programs, or who got an A in English as a foreign language in school, aren't happy about posts with errors, but I hope that those for whom English is indeed a foreign language and who might use a translator will not be put off by such comments and (agreements to these comments), because I love the international diversity of this forum.

Thank you so much. Do not answer because I do not enter the forum
The German club has two versions, the English one and the German one, presumably the interviews are in the original version in the English one.
When I transcribe parts of interviews, I do it in English, I only use the translator for my comments in Spanish.
It's more work but I think it looks better that way.
What happens is that what is originally written in English from the translations is noticeable and that is what some forum members miss
It took a while to enter the forum although I read the messages, Thanks to the Google translator
It is wonderful to exchange comments on a series that we liked
Although the google translations into Spanish have errors, I understand quite well and I hope that the other forum members can understand me

I THINK EVERYBODY AT LORIMAR WAS IMPRESSED WITH DAVID SELBY'S WORK ON FLAMINGO ROAD. I'm guessing they were looking for a way to use him on Falcon Crest.
I don't think John Beck impressed anyone.

By the way the problems with Black and Stern with Jane . They were because they were homosexual or because the arcs of the hippodrome and the Cartel gave Richard more prominence.
And the same would not happen with Robert L. McCullough. The second and third season bibles were changed to accommodate those plotlines. Was that the cause of your being at war with Lorimar?
Writer and story editor Garner Simmons, who worked on the Falcon Crest crew from seasons 1 through 3 Says
By season 3, Bob McCullough was in the midst of a real battle with the powers that be at Lorimar. So he sent me up to Napa with the cast & crew to make certain what was

I liked David Selby on Flamingo Road and thought he was a great addition to the cast. However, because you like a particular cast member doesn't mean you have to hate on everyone else on the show. To say John Beck impressed no one is nonsense. Clearly he was liked well enough to get a significant role in Lorimar's most popular show, Dallas.

When conservative Jane Wyman learned that the two writers, Black and Stern - script consultants (executives) during seasons 2 and 3 and co-producers - were gay, she wanted them not to come to Napa Valley for the location. shootings in 1983. Again, I think this is nonsense. If Black and Stern were so "shocked and angry" about Jane's alleged homophobia on the Falcon Crest set, why would they return to the series to write for season 8 when she was still on the show?

When Jane was awarded a posthumous star on the Palm Springs Walk of Fame, Steve Black said "She was lovely; a real solid star and solid pro." Regarding the location of the star, he went on to say "This is where her star belongs". He and Henry Stern live in Palm Springs so why would they want a constant reminder of Jane in their home town if they hated her so much?

I really do question the source of some of the tosh you post on this forum.

John Beck was of course in line to portray 'Tricky Dicky' Channing, after Michael Swan was cast as the very one dimensional Richard in the unaired pilot 'The Vintage Years'. When the fall of 1982 dawned the leading man of axed but inspiring FLAMINGO ROAD was handed the torch and so a character was introduced who brought carryover fans plus instigated fresh followers.

John Beck had great gusto as Pamela's other man in the oil/cattle show. If Patrick Duffy had not returned by some miracle after Pam's forty winks (enticed by a big return bonus, thanks to Larry's clout); I strongly believe we would have had John in the opening credits, before Barbara Bel Geddes.

Richard converses with Pamela about his mother's last will and testament (Jacqueline Perrault). The prodigal son digests the news that Chase has given away their $50,000,000 inheritance, (a scene from season 3, 1983 - '84):

"There is no inheritance! My dear brother gave the money to some nuns. Maybe he thinks they're going to make him a cardinal, maybe even pope."
