First David Jacobs and now Gayle Hunnicutt.

Whilst I will always hold David Jacobs in high regard I'm afraid the same cannot be said of Gayle Hunnicutt.

She was on Dallas when the show was limping towards it's conclusion.

A good actor yes, but as regards Dallas her character didn't exactly set the storylines on fire.

Sad that she's passed away but Vanessa Beaument was a rather forgettable character. :(

Rest in Peace, Gayle Hunnicutt.

I only found out about her death through Tellytalk. The entertainment and gossip sites I always check for news didn't mention her death at all, which I find a shame.

Gayle Hunnicutt was one of those Dallas actresses that I always think I'd like to see in a different role, but I've never really looked for any of her films. Now I looked at her credits and realized that I had seen "Strong Medicine" and "Dream West" before "Dallas" but it is so long ago that I only have vague memories of both productions.

As for Vanessa, I've always felt that Gayle Hunnicutt did what was asked of her. I wasn't blown away by her when I watched Dallas for the first time, but I grew to like Vanessa with each subsequent viewing.

Rest in Peace, Gayle Hunnicutt.

In my opinion JR's previous love stories, first with Lee Ann De La Vega and then with Vanessa Beaumont, are more believable than the one with Callie Harper.

With regard to Vanessa (the actress was almost a double of Linda Gray when she was very young), I can believe she was the first great love of JR who subsequently looked first in Julie Gray and then in Miss Texas Sue Ellen Shepard almost as substitutes , all very similar physiognomically to each other.

Then ... over the years, Sue Ellen became the most important woman, in love and hate.

Ms Hunnicutt was a smart choice by the casting directors because she looked a bit like Linda Gray and so was totally believable as the type of woman to which JR would be attracted. I like to think of Sue Ellen as being a lookie-likey that JR wanted in order to recapture what he previously had with Vanessa.

Most of the obituaries I read about Ms Hunnicutt mentioned Dallas most prominently of all the work she was involved in so she must have made a strong impression on that role considering she was only in the series for a few episodes.

Here death will be is a sad loss for her family, friends and fans.

It's sad that Gayle Hunnicutt passed away, but she's likely being acknowledged for being on Dallas because it was once a huge show and it's listed among her credits.

Hardly anybody watched the last three seasons of the show, and Vanessa hasn't exactly been a fan favorite on this forum.

That's not a knock on Hunnicutt as an actress, but the character of Vanessa felt shoe-horned in (something that often happens in the closing years of long-running TV shows.) She was also introduced at a time when the producers were obsessed with adding European elements. Her character was European, yet Hunnicutt was an actual Texan!

Hunnicutt was a fine performer just like George Kennedy. They just had the misfortune of being cast as the show started to tank.
