Season 1
Episode 1 - Opening

Lucy Ewing sits out on back deck of a stone lodge overlooking the green shore and fresh water seas below. Well into her sixties now she still looks a bit of the Texas socialite beauty.

Across from her, a very young, Asian man sits with a pad and pen taking down notes.

upload_2020-6-13_21-25-55.jpeg

Lucy says, “What a horrible June it’s been so far. I’m glad to be up here.” She stares off into the straights of Mackinaw. “The sailboats will be by soon. Liam would have loved to see them just once more.” Her voice breaks up. “He loved the wind. The New Port to Bermuda race, then Detroit to Mackinaw. Anyway the next ten weeks at Highlands will be just what I need. Rest up before joining the world again. People will visit. Liam’s son will be up by the end of the week. Let’s work on my a schedule for next year.”

“We don’t have to do this Miss Lucy?” the young man says with a thick Chinese accent.

“No, Master Liang, I need to. Life goes on, right?”

“Will you cut it out. You make me sound like an old man from a bad Hong Kong film.”

“Master’s what you call a young boy.”

“Again I’m not twelve.”

“And again its been seven husbands since I’ve been a miss.”

“Ok. Ok. So life goes on. After this ten weeks you’ve got the Jazz Festival in Detroit blocked.”

“Just like Liam. An old clock, everything on time, year after year.”

“Then to New York and Europe for autumn. Returning to the Porcupine Mountain Club for hunting last weekend in November.”

Lucy interjects, “If only my grandpa could see me now.”

Liang doesn’t miss a beat, “Before being back here for Christmas.”

“Make sure you block off some time for skiing. I promised Jay if he spent Christmas with me we’d get in skiing. It’s not Idaho but it’ll do.”

“Got it.”

“Where is New Years going to be?”

“St. Barts. Then back to New York and Europe for winter. Fall and winter events are filling up fast. Easter this year is into April, bringing you back to Highlands. Then spring back to New York and Europe”

Lucy smiles. “Then right back to Detroit, Memorial weekend and early June. Liam loved tradition.”

“He loved the Detroit Grand Prix and Michigan LeMans.”

“Jay told me next year he’d be my escort to everything.”

“You’re cousins son is a nice young man.”

“He is. Surprising if you’d known his grandpa.”

Liang checks his phone. “Your brother-in-law is here.”

“Do I really want to see him?”

“I can send him away.”

“No. I better get it over with.”

Liang goes into the house.

Lucy mumbles to herself, “I know you and your brother didn’t get along. He did marry and divorce your second wife. But I don’t know a thing about running a business. This is too much Liam. Too much. Why couldn’t you come up with a better idea than me?”

A short, dark, handsome, and Semitic, man walks out of the house. “Lucy. How are you doing?” Her leans over and hugs her as happy as anyone could be, in stark contrast to Lucy’s somber mood.

“Just trying to put things back together, Ryan.”

“I’m sure you’ll do just fine. I want to fill you in as you’re the trustee of my brother’s trust.”

“Yes indeed. No sure what he was thinking. But, go ahead.”

Ryan sits. “I don’t know how much he told you while he was fighting the cancer, but right after I took over I meet with Edgar Rosemont, my father’s partner in the Kellogg Fund.”

“I know Edgar. He’s our neighbor up here.”

“Yes. Yes that’s him. He’s probably up now, too. Anyway the plan has been to merge Bishop Chemical, which I took over running after Liam resigned.”

“Because he was sick.”

“Well yes. True. Anyway, Edgar and I are in the process of merging Bishop and Bing. Two giant chemical companies. For tax purposes we’ll need to keep them together for a year. During which time we’ll stream line by merging different divisions into three groups. Then, after a year, we’ll split them up into three separate companies.”

“OK. If you think that’s best. What about Sam?”

“Sam?”

“Liam son.”

“I know who he is, but what about him?”

“Liam was grooming him to take over Bishop Chemical. He’s the whole reason Liam moved to Michigan and took over running Bishop Chemical, created Highland Investments. Built this place. He wanted something to leave to his son.”

“I really don’t think he’s capable of running a Fortune 500 company.”

“I don’t know. But it’s what Liam talked about.”

Ryan takes her hand. “Don’t worry. I’ll oversee Highland Investments.”

“That’s Liam’s holding company, for Sam. It includes his shares in Kellogg and Bishop. He’d want Sam to oversee it?”

“He might. But we have to do what’s best for Sam and his kids as well as all the shareholders and employees. I’ll step in to oversee the Foundation’s Investments too. I’ll make sure you have all the money you need to work on the projects you and my brother put in place. It’ll be fine.”

“I just don’t know. Sam has been working at Bishop his whole life. He’s friends with the Bishop family too.”

“They lost control of the company decades ago.”

“Yes but Sam . . .”

“Sam’s a spoiled rotten brat. He’s going on forty. What’s he’s accomplished?”

“That’s not fair.”

“Just leave everything to me Miss Lucy.”

Lucy sighs.

Opening credits, instrumental song kicks in: something like from the house of cards except for videos of the Highland estate and

Season 1
Episode 1 continued

Lucy with Ryan walks into the living room from the back as Sam, Amelia and the young children come down from the entry, the children running ahead of their parents to hug Lucy around her legs, yelling “Grandma!”

Lucy hugs the kids and then Amelia. She then says, “Sam, you really should stay all summer.”

“Wish I could. I’ve got a lot going on.”

“But your children need you more than your business. You certainly don’t need the money.”

“Don’t I?”

“You know you don’t. This is your place. Your dad use to say he was working on it for his grandchildren and when he was done he’d have accomplished his life’s purpose. He came close but it’s not really done. Why don’t you stay and finish it. Add your’s and Amelia’s touches?”

“Thank you Lucy. I appreciate it. This is more yours than mine. You and my dad did a lot of good things, with the foundation you’re still doing them, but I need to work. There are things of mine I need to do.”

“No you don’t. The trust pays for Highland and anything else you could ever want.”

“Thank you Lucy. But now that my fathers’s gone I have to take over running Bishop Chemical. The kids will be fine with Amelia. I’ll come back and forth. I promise.”

Ryan says, “But you’re not taking over Bishop Chemical. Since your father’s been ill, I’ve been taking care of the company and I worked out a deal with Edgar Rosemont. We’re going to merge Bishop and Bing.”

“What? Where did that come from?”

“I haven’t discussed it with Bishop’s leadership yet. Monday morning.”

“No. My father took over Bishop when it was nearly bankrupt. He rebuilt the company into what it is today. You’re not taking over.”

“No I’m not. And neither are you. Your fathers turn is over. There aren’t any princes at Bishop and her certainly wasn’t a king.”

“He sat on the board of GM with Francis Bishop. The family trusted him.”

“And he did well by them. He did a lot of good.”

“He and Lucy created a foundation that’s done a lot of good with money he’s made off of running Bishop. And now you’re just gonna wipe that out by selling to Bing?”

“It’s a complicated merger. The Lucy and Liam Riebmann Foundation will have even more money once we’re done and Lucy begins selling it’s shares. You’re dad’s not being forgotten. We’re just moving on.”

“You knew about this!” Sam stares down Lucy.

Lucy attempts to explain.

“Never mind. I get it. My dads dead and the two of you figure out how to screw him over!” Sam walks out the front door.

Amelia starts to go after him and Ryan says, “Your father and I put this deal together.”

“Since when is my father involved in Bishop?”

“He’s not. He invested in Bing and we worked out the details. It’s a done deal just waiting federal approval.”

“And you didn’t bother to mention this until now?” Amelia walks out.

Outside Amelia tries to calm Sam down. She explains that they’ll figure this out together and they go for a walk.

Ryan finds Jon grooming his horse. “We’re going to have to act fast. If Lucy caves and sides with Sam the whole merger could be in jeopardy.”

“You said you could keep Lucy in place.”

“I can, as long as her cousins don’t get involved. If Sam thinks to include them, all bets are off.”

“We’ve got deals lined up. We need Bing and we need control of Bishop’s agriscience. You loose either one and the deals are off with the Chinese. You of all people know that.”

“Well Jon, of course I do.”

“They’re not playing games. What you’ve assembled is what they want. And they’re gonna get it, one way or another.”

“I’m well aware. Your job is to handle your cousin.”

“Handle him? We just need him out of the way.”

A limousine pulls up in front of Highland and out from which Anthony greets Lucy and Sam. “I’m so glad you came. Sam, this is Anthony. He’s, well, my cousin’s overseer, I’d guess you’d say. He can help us figure everything out.”

Anthony shakes his hand. “Nice to meet you. And this is Roger. He’s the family’s finance guy. He oversees the investing for the company, the foundation and the individuals.”

Lucy’s facc then lights up and she hugs Jay. “I didn’t know you’d be here.”

Anthony says, “He’s our information person.”

Sitting out on the terrace, Anthony, Roger and Jay explain the situation to Sam. Anthony starts. “So your Uncle plans on merging Bishop and Bing, but only for a year. Then he’ll take it apart, into three pieces, commodity chemicals, specialty chemicals and agricultural chemicals. We figure your uncle wants the Agricultural business.”

Roger says, “This will make each more focused, think of brining them down to their fighting weight.”

“What Rosemont wants is to run the speciality chemical business. This leaves the commodities business, things like material sciences, plastics and silicones. It’s expected to generate more than nine billion in earnings this year, before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization. You know this as this is where you’ve been working. Headquartered in Mid Michigan. Most importantly it includes alternative energy.”

Sam says, “My division.”

Jay says, “Your uncle wanting the agriscience company should make this an easy split if he just included you. Problem is he thinks, and he’s probably right, Wall Street won’t respond favorably to you running any part of the spin off. And I think he had other reasons.”

“But we do think you’re the right person to run it,” Anthony says. “We suggest you sit back and watch this happen. Then help us and we’ll help you. We want the agriscience company.”

“That my uncle wants?”

“Yes. And we’d like to invest in your commodities business.”

Roger adds, “We’ll even sell it some of our chemical assets. We want you to work out a relationship between Ewing Alternative and Bishop’s alternative division. We’ll work out the details later. Rosemont gets what he wants, leaves him out of any battle.”

“And you can make this happen?”

“The important part,” Jay says, “We can count on you as a friend.”

“You can. But I don’t know how much help I can be. Lucy controls my father’s trust. I don’t have any say.”

Roger says, “The Liam Riebmann Trust is the sole owner of this estate, Highland Farms and Highland Investments. We believe your uncle wants the farms as that’s where they do much of the research for the agriscience part of the business. We don’t. We have our own farming operations. We’ll just want an arrangement with your farm.”

Jay says, “We also believe he wants the house as your grandfather built it. There are personal reasons motivating him. This isn’t all business.”

“It’s Highland Investments which owns your shares in Bishop, along with a diverse portfolio of other investments, including shares in the Kellogg Fund.”

Anthony says, “We believe we can get Lucy to allow us to set up the management of the company for her. It’ll end up with shares in all three new companies. We’ll buy it’s shares in the agriscience business your uncle intends to control and we’ll buy as much of the suppressed commodities business as we can, giving you control.”

“Suppressed?”

“We’ll drive down the share price.”

Roger says, “The thing is, the Lucy and Liam Riebmann Foundation and the Kellogg Fund will end up the keys here, and your uncle knows it. We can manage Kellogg. What we need is Lucy. If she sides with your uncle . . .”

A tall glass building in New York City lights up as the sky gets dark.

“Good afternoon Mr. Rosemont,” a secretary says as the tall and imposing Black man walks through the quite c-suite offices of The Kellogg Fund.”

“Good afternoon Beth. Is Mr. Chi here yet.”

Sofia Ricardo walks out of his office. “That meeting’s been canceled.”

“Sofia.”

“I’ve got a lot of people asking me, why is Edgar Rosemont meeting with the Chinese while the state department is absent any meaningful Pacific Rim trade agreement?”

“I’ve got things in hand.”

“You know as well as I do, that’s not going to settle anyone’s curiosity.”

“And who’s anyone? The Ewing’s?”

“For starters. You look like you’re going rouge.”

“You know that’s not true.”

“I know it looks that way. It looks like you’re trying to help get the Chinese out of the ditch they’ve dug for themselves. Watch your steps Edgar. You know what they say. You’re either with us or you’re against us.”

She pats his lapel and walks down the corridor.

The lights of a massive Bishop chemical plant lights up the night sky.

Boxes of product roll down an assembly line, marked for shipment to to a rural providence in China.

In Washington a car is pulled over by a police officer. The window rolled down. “Please step out of the car.”

Lucy sits by a campfire at Highland while the kids roast marshmallows and assemble s’mores.

I love the idea of a Lucy spin-off. :)
But I'm a bit confused with all the new characters as I find it a bit hard to get a grip on them. I recognize Jay of course.
Also I think Amelia might have been the housekeeper in your other Dallas story or?

But what I don't understand is when you create a story centering around Lucy, why not give her at least one child of her own?
Maybe with Mitch, then it would be Pamela Rebecca's cousin.

Sure she could have a step-son too. But I find it hard to imagine she never had any kids at all.

I can definitely picture her getting married several times though considering how many times she broke up her engagements! ;)

Also this is a spin-off it says, yet I didn't find any reference to what happened at Southfork after the bush fire or did I miss it?

I think of it as a Knots Landing like spin off. There’s Lucy and Jay instead of Val and Gary, but the rest is an eclectic assortment.

So there’s Lucy and her stepson from her last marriage we saw on my last Dallas thread. Amelia is his wife. I think you’re thinking of Amelie as the Ewing housekeeper. Amelia is from an old, prominent, east coast black family. Her great uncle was “Rosemont” from Falcon Crest and the head of the 13 at one point. Note Riebmann was the name of the Nazi was criminal from Falcon Crest. Amelia is a highly ambitious woman. Ryan is Lucy’s brother-in-law, think the uncle from Hamlet. And his son Jon. While all connected to Lucy, 4 couples will emerge, again like Knots Landing.

There’s nothing to say that Lucy doesn’t have children, much of her life is still unknown, but that wasn’t my plan at this point. I do like the idea of Pamela having cousins.

Like Knot Landing, theres very little of Dallas stories carried over. There will be mention from time to time. I’m fact my long term plan is to mention all 3, Dallas, Knots Landing and Falcon Crest.

Thank you for explaining the premise of this story. :)

I think it's a good idea that one of the four couples you had in mind would be a child to Lucy. Also do you plan to give Lucy a new love interest?

I don’t have one of the couples as Lucy’s child, but now I’m really thinking about someone showing up as such. Thanks for the idea.

Sam and Amelia (Sam being her step son) and Jay and Jon (Jay being her cousin’s son) - are as close as I have right now. She is obviously not Sam’s mother, but his children do look at her as their grandmother, so I want to do some touching grandma scenes with them.

Lucy and Liang are a couple, though not a love interest couple. The two are like Angela and Choa-Li if there was more to Choa-Li’s character than a faithful servant. They’re best friends, partner in every way but romance. But I’d think some of Lucy’s past romances, which we never saw, would show up.

The forth couple is related to Liang.

Season 1
Episode 2

Amelia walks down a long stair case to a dock out into the fresh water sea where Sam preps a small sail boat. “It sounds like your uncle and stepmother are trying to shove you out of the way.”

“What are you talking about?”

“Don’t bullshit me. I’ve listened to them. He’s not happy about the Ewing team that’s showed up. And you’re out here playing with a boat.”

“I’m going for a sail.”

“Listen to me, I’ve agreed to the Senate run for one reason, to lead to the White House. I can’t have some snivelly sissy for a husband. You’ve got to show people you’re tough.”

“What do you want me to do? My father left control of his trust to Lucy. She asked her cousin for help.”

“And?”

“They’re intention is to squeeze my uncle out. So they say.”

“And you’re just going sailing while they do your work?”

“No.”

“Looks that way to me.”

“What is it you’d have me do right now?”

“Figure out a way to destroy you uncle snd stepmother. The man I married isn’t a looser. Your father did this for you, this house, the company. He promised it to you. Nice be man enough to take what’s yours.”

Sam pushes out.

Jay walks off the elevator and into the c-suite offices of Bishop Chemical. He introduces himself along the way. Jon walks out of an office and says, “How did you get up here?”

“It’s not all the difficult of you know the right people.” He holds out his hand. “I’m John Ross Ewing the fourth. Please call me Jay. You must be Jonathan Riebmann.”

The two shake. “Please call me Jon. You’re Lucy’s cousin.”

“1st cousin once removed. Your father has been acting CEO while you’ve over seen a fertilizer division. I’m curious. What’s next?”

“I’m not sure why it would matter to you.”

Jay hand him an envelope. “Ewing Industries collected just over six percent of Bishop yesterday. I’ve been asked to notify your father and the board. And to let you know, Anthony Cumson would like the nomination committee to consider his appointment, which will mean to stay on the New York Stock Exhange, you’ll need to expand the number of independent board members, but those are details we can work out later.”

“I see.”

“Your father did make you acting secretary, correct?”

“The board did.”

“Either way, you’re informed.”

In the campaign managers office Amelia asks, “I pay you to get results. No debates isn’t a result. Shame the msn into it. We need at least one. He’s a pompous ass and we need that to show through.”

An advisor says, “He’s going to try and make you look weak, attracting you as just a community organization.”

“That’s what I want. Let him make my case that I’m a political outsider. His incumbency isn’t going to serve him well this time.”

“I get your point. Voters don’t like insiders, except their own insider. I don’t think that’s going to help as much as you think it will. We need people to see your face.”

“A young, black woman,” Amelia states.

Suddenly their attention switches to the television which had been playing in the background, “Breaking news, Michigan Senator Corey Mott was arrested last night for suspicion of drunk driving. The junior senator, up for re-election, was arraigned in Washington D.C. on multiple charges including cocaine possession. This could very well turn the entire election around, giving Republican challenger, Amelia Rosemont, a decided advantage.”

The room and the entire campaign office outside erupts in cheers.

Edgar Rosemont sits on a D.C. park bench. A man sits next to him. Edgar says, “Good job. A very personal favor to me never goes unrecognized.”

“Frankly I’m surprised you wanted to meet. Your handler said you wanted to size me up?”

“Yes.”

“Who are you?”

“Just a friend you did a very personal favor for.”

“Wasn’t much of anything to get high and drunk a guy like that.”

“You had the aces.”

“Your guy said he’d be in the mood. Wasn’t much for me to do. Known Corey for a long time.”

“That’s my concern.” Edgar holds out a tin box. “Mint?”

The man takes one. “Sure.”

“See if someone this close to you will turn on you, well how can that person be trusted.”

The man takes the mint and quickly goes into a acid trip. Edgar hands him the box, which in his convulsions is quickly dropped. Edgar walks away.

In a hotel room Jon and Jay are in a hurry to take each other’s clothes off, kissing and pawing at each other.

Limousine and various other cars line up in front of Highlands dropping off guests which fill up the house on an early summer evening. Inside Lucy welcomes her guests, talking about how Liam loved these summer parties.

Senator Judith Brown takes a glass of Champaign from Ryan and says, “Did you hear the news?”

“About Senator Mott? Of course. Who hasn’t?”

“No his friend. The guy he got high with. They found him dead in a park in D.C. Overdose.”

“Really. Seems to me Amelia should be celebrating tonight. He’s only got five months to deal with this mess.”

“I hear he might drop out of the race. Even resign and the governor will appoint someone temporarily to replace him, until the election.”

“Look at that.” Judith points her glass across the room where Amelia, Sam, Jay and Lucy stand. “A Black and an Arab-Jew. A young Hispanic queer and old blonde, blue-eyed hag. It’s certainly a different world then the one I grew up in.” Liang brings the four of them a tray of Champaign.

Ryan says, “Yeah well, we’ll see.”

“Not that I’m complaining. The world I grew up in was a shit hole.”

Lucy stands at the top of the stairs looking down into the living room. “Can I have your attention?” She clings a spoon against her crystal glass. “Listen up. Listen up. My stepson, Sam’s wife, Amelia, is running for what’s about to be an open Senate seat here in Michigan. While I count a few Republicans as friends, I’ve never endorsed one. So take this as monumental. As a common sense moderate, I can in all good conscious back Amelia. She’s one of the few people who will always put country above party. She’s intelligent. She believes in free markets and common sense government which supports those free markets, health care and education so everyone has an opportunity to thrive. So please consider supporting my stepdaughter-in-law and eat and drink any make merry.” Lucy holds up her Champaign.

Amelia walks up the steps and stands next to Lucy. “Thank you. Thank you.” She hugs her and then turns to the crowd. “We’re not here for political speeches, even though there’s way too many politicians here. But I do want to say, what ever side of the aisle you’re on, I know we can find compromise. The Republican Party has been spending sometime trying to went wrong and I promise you as the next Senator from the great state of Michigan that I will moderate the party in line with the true principals we all share, equal opportunity, freedom in its truest sense, and a government which works for the people. Thank you.”

Everyone mingles at the party. Lucy invites every to return tomorrow to watch the sailboats race by tomorrow as she makes the rounds.

Upstairs Jay gets out of bed and pulls up his underwear saying to Jon, “I think we better get back down stairs before people start to ask questions.”

Jon says, “I’m not out. I don’t want anyone to know. At least not right now.”

Jay gets dressed. “It’s your life. I’m not gonna talk about you.”

“Thank you.”

“You know you just need to be you. I never came out. I got mad at the idea. If I came out as straight people would think I was weird, so why should I come out as anything else. My sex life isn’t a public topic no matter what. And if someone has a problem with me being to friendly with a guy in public, I don’t give a shit. Try it sometime.” Jay leaves the room.

Downstairs Liang explains his blend of tea to a group gathered around and the green house he built on the property. Lucy joins them. “He says he’s going to get me to live a hundred years between what he feeds me and the yoga.”

Liang says, “My brother’s here?” noticing Dia-Li and Lisa walking down into the living room.

“Oh yes. Ryan mentored they were in Detroit.” Lucy heads across the room to greet them. “Dia-Li. Lisa. Welcome. Have you been to your cottage yet?”

“No. No. We just got here,” Lisa says.

“Edgar offered to put us up at this place. I was in Detroit meeting with him, regarding Winston Matheson.”

“Oh. Well good. He’s our neighbor. I can show you the path between the two houses. Liam’s grandfather and Edgar’s father started the tradition of coming up here long time ago.”

“It’s beautiful. In the woods,” Lisa says, looking around.

“Are your boys with you?”

“Yes actually. They ran into Sam and Amelia’s children out front.”

“Wonderful. Yes, isn’t your son, Tony, the same age as Jaqueline?”

“Yes. Ten. And Jillian is the same age as twins, eight, Albert and Calvin?”

“Yes that’s right. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if a little romance sparked between Tony and Jaqueline?”

“Bit young for that,” Dia-Li says.

“Oh I don’t know. I was about ten when I fell in love with an older guy on my grandparent’s ranch. He was a ranch hand.” She then notices Jon walk by her looking determined.

Jon walks up to Jay and puts his arm around him, kissing his cheek in a most romantic jester. Eyes browns around the room raise.

Interesting update. Also since you are going for a political angle, how come you chose not to use the character of Margaret Krebbs?
I don't know why but for some reason I can totally picture her going into politics. Probably because of Donna's interest in politics and because she grew up in Washington DC.

That’s one angle of this thread, this story is a mix of politics and business - good bed partners. Again a kind of nod to Knots Landing.

And Margret is defiantly in the mix. I see Donna as the wife of a Senator who became Secretary of Energy in her own right. Who then became a U.S. Senator replacing her late husband. Margret became a high powered lobbyist even working for Ewing Industries. They defiantly will not be forgotten.

Episode 3

Ryan pulls Jon into the library. “What the hell was that?”

Lucy rushes in behind them and shuts the door. “Jon are you involved with Jay?” She seems intrigued.

Before he can answer Ryan says, “That’s sick. A man laying down with another man is an abomination.”

“Oh please Ryan, don’t spew that crap. Even if it’s true, God doesn’t need your help.”

“Stay out of this Lucy.”

“You stay out of it.”

“He’s my son.”

“So. All you have to do is love and care for him. If you’re here to condemn him, you can leave.”

“Am not gonna watch him go to hell.”

“Why not? Judging him forces him to watch you go to hell.”

“This is you defending your cousin’s kid.”

“This is me being happy for Jonathon. I hope he’s finally found someone to share his life with.”

“Stay out of this Lucy.”

“You might not have any respect for your son, but here you’d better fear me.”

Ryan chuckles. “Yeah right.”

“Get out of my house.”

“Your house?”

“The house my husband left to me. You can get out of your own will or I can have you carried out in pieces.”

With those words Liang walks in and holds the door open.

Ryan walks out.

Late at night the party has moved to the beach, dark except the glow of a bomb fire and the star filled sky above. Jonathon and Jay cuddle in each other’s arms. Sam hands Amelia a drink and sits next to her. Lisa and Dia-Li cuddle. Lucy and Liang approach and join. The waves of the fresh water sea lap at the sand. The fire crackles.

As the sun rises and sets the sky over the vast sea on fire a fleet of sailboats race north. The exhausted crowd around the campfire perk up, wave and cheer them on. Liang pops a bottle of campaign. Lucy laughs, “Mimosas hold them Champaign.” Caviar and crackers are passed around.

Amelia walks into her campaign office. “I’d like everyone to meet Margret Krebs. She’s going to take over. Everything coordinated through her.” Looking at her campaign manager, “You’ll keep up the statewide campaign buy Margret is going to oversee a national presence. I plan on speaking at the national convention during prime time.” She turns to the young crowd of staff and volunteers. “Margret is a big lobbyist in D.C. She knows everyone there’s to know on both sides of the aisle. Her mother was a senator and former Secretary of Energy. And she’s going to take us to the Senate. We are going to make a change.” The room applauds.

Summer’s gentle breeze off the cold water far below adds to the restful mood as Lucy takes her lunch out on the terrace. Softly in the background she listens to Nina Simone. Ryan walks out and says, “What is this, selling the foundation’s shares of BingBishop?”

Lucy says as if she’s pleased to see him, totally ignoring his anger, “Afternoon Ryan. Long drive up. Would you like done lunch?”

“What the hell are you doing? The plan is to sell the shares after the three way split drives up the price.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. A team handles the foundation’s investments. I give away money.”

“A team which answers to you!”

“No one answers to me. You all do what you want when you want.”

“This has to do with your cousin’s son. Jay.”

“What are you talking about? Jay’s back in Texas. Don’t be silly. You know when he was a little boy, before John Ross brought him to Texas, he use to live with me in New York? He was the sweetest boy. Everyone in New York knew him. We spent the whole quarantine at South Fork reminiscing how he was the toast of New York. He’s the baby in many a friends paintings.”

“So what he’s like a son to you?”

“Exactly,” Lucy’s tone turns stern.

“This isn’t going to stop the split.”

“I don’t give a damn. I gave up caring about business a long time before I meet you.”

“Then why interfere now?”

“You said it, Jay is like a son to me. I do care about him.”

“You’re not going to stop my plans.”

“I don’t care to. Is that? Why don’t you stay and have lunch. Fresh white fish caught this morning.”

“You’re kidding right.”

“Oh you need more. Careful. Don’t underestimate a Ewing. We always get what we want, unless we’re fighting each other.”

“Unbelievable.”

“I know, right?”

A private yet lands in Detroit and find out if it arrives Jay and Jon, getting into a limousine.

The car takes them downtown among old brick buildings and narrow streets and massive crowds. They’re dropped off n and Jay pulls him into the nigh life. “You really don’t know Beaubien?”

“Well the street yes, but I don’t get it.”

“That why’s Paradise Valley. They’ve got an old jazz club, Harlem Nights. R & B. And a club suppose to be a hang out of thugs and rappers. And their Greektown. Oh I love Greek food. Octopus. And the red lights. I hear they have like Amsterdam coffeeshops.”

“Like marijuana?”

“Right.”

“You’re into that?”

“Hell no. But it’s so wild. They say there’s hookers up and down this street. Strip clubs and this way.” Jay pulls him. “There’s a dance club where like Techno was born. This place has everything. It’s so diverse. Everyone partying.”

Into a dark, cavernous room with a huge bar and thick crowd, Jay pulls Jon. There are tables and sofas and an archway to a dance floor with strobe lights and music which pounds inside your chest. At the bar Jay orders a “psychedelic Steve!”

Jon yells, “What is it?”

“I have no idea but I thought I’d try one!”

“You’re not going to get drunk are you!”

“Hell no. But it’ll be fun to watch everyone else.” He sips it. “Oh God that’s awful.” He hands it to Jon.

“Why round I want it if it’s awful?”

“You can’t say it’s awful until you try it! Oh my god! Look at him. He’s gorgeous.”

A girl says to Jay, “Did you bring your dad?”

“My sugar daddy!”

“Oh. I see. You can do a lot better tonight.”

“No. I like to be the hottest guy in the room. So, I don’t really think I can do better here.”

“My girl friend over there things you can.”

“Oh I see. The two of you. That could be fun, but there’s my friend here.”

“We’re not interested in him.” She then says to Jon, “You a perv looking for hot boys?”

“What? No.”

“He says you’re his sugar daddy.”

“No I’m not. He’s richer than I am.”

“You two are weird. It’s kinda hot.” She rubs on Jays crotch. “Just what I told Gloria.”

“You and Gloria ever hook up?” Jay asks.

“What? No. I mean.”

“You mean you have.”

“We were messed up.”

“Shame. Memories aren’t that good that way.

Amelia rolls around in hotel bed with a young intern.

Dia-Li meets with Sam at the executive offices of Bishop. “Sam you know Henry Bishop.”

“Yes. Henry. Nice to see you again.”

“Henry’s been courted by a few of us to serve as the non-executive Chairman of BingBishop and then just Bishop once the company’s split up.”

“Sounds like a good idea. Provide some image of stability.”

“Exactly. Your Uncle Ryan will obviously remain as CEO. One CEO. Three presidents, chief operating offices of three divisions.”

“What’ll be the three companies?”

“Exactly. I want you as President of Bishop and I think I can get the board, once we meet as one body, to agree.”

Sam’s face lights up. “Really?”

“Once the split is complete, you’ll remain President and become CEO. Henry will remain chairman. What do you say?”

“I say I think I can get on board with that.”

“Good. Good. Glad to hear it.”

Amelia fixes her makeup, fully dressed at the vanity in the hotel room when the young man comes out of the bathroom, wrapped in a towel, still wet from the shower. “I rather enjoyed that,” she says to him without looking away from her task.

“I can’t believe we did that.”

“Let’s just make sure we keep that to ourselves. It would do well for the campaign.”

“No I guess not. The candidate and the intern. Especially as your married.”

“To a very wealthy and powerful man.”

Lucy and Liang and the three young children, Jacqueline, 10, Albert and Calvin, 8, watch the sailboats race by. Lucy says, “They’re racing to the finish line.”

“Where’s that?” Calvin asks.

“Mackinaw,” Liang answers. They’ll be a big crowd a party tonight.

“Can we go see?” Alber asks.

Lucy says, “I don’t see why not. It’s just a short flight. What do you say Liang?”

“Well it’s a bit of a ruckus for children.”

All three say, “Please grandma. Please.”

“Well we’d better hurry if were gonna get there before the board.”

The children cheer.

I'm glad to see you brought in Margaret. :)
Something tells me she's gonna have her hands full trying to get Amelia elected.

It makes sense that Lucy stood up for Jay and Jon. After all she was once engaged to a man who was gay.
Interesting also how she more or less raised Jay for a few years.

Episode 4

Summer is in full heat, the barbecues are smoking and crowds gather a Highlands looking down at the sparking blue water. Lucy comes out, a sweating glass of Champaign in hand, telling some friends the fireworks should be spectacular tonight. “Jay there you are.” She hugs and kisses him. “I wish it wasn’t so damn hot and humid. Reminds me of Texas. And there are people still arguing against climate change. You know, we could go further north. The Riebmann’s have a hunting place in the U.P. The breeze off Lake Superior feels just like air conditioning.”

“Maybe you should spend your summers up there.”

“Maybe I should. Speaking of such, how is everyone in Texas?”

“Crazy. It’s better when i fly over looking down. The scars of the fire are hidden behind new growth. My grandpa’s house is gone, so’s the hunting lodge. And a bunch of other stuff.”

“I heard your father settled out of court, giving Katherine Wentworth sixteen percent of Ewing Industries.”

“He wasn’t happy. But my great grandma had no right to leave her second husband’s estate to my grandfather and Aunt Pam. Herbert’s trust was very clear about that.”

“All those years of fighting. I could tell you stories.”

“You have.”

Lucy chuckles. “And Adrian?”

“If he doesn’t want to be found there’s no funding him. But I rebuilt the hunting lodge just in case he ever comes back.”

“You miss him.”

“I do. But it’s the not knowing. I mean what if something happened to him?”

“I get that. It’s important to know.”

Liang approaches Dia and Lisa. “I hear you’re buying the old Mott House next door.”

Lisa answers, “We did. I just fell in love with it here. It’s just beautiful and I’m told not usually this warm.”

“No this is unusual.” Looking straight at Dia, “You’re meddling in business between Sam and his uncle.”

“I represent Winston Matheson’s share of the combined company, BingBishop. We just want to make sure things are handled properly.”

“And Sam?”

“Sam is far more capable than his stepmother thinks.”

“I hope so. I don’t want this causing an issue for this family.”

“Yes everyone knows your friendship with Lucy.”

“And very few people know you’re dealings with Katherine Wentworth.”

Lisa says, “What’s he talking about?”

“The woman who owns sixteen percent of Ewing Industries. We’ve had some dealings. She on the board of SinoHuà with me. We’re attempting to expand the company globally and her contacts have value.”

“What you’re interested in is her helping you use the Ewing Process, which you stole, outside of China. And you’re interested in taking the Demeter Corporation to accomplish that end, once it’s separated from BingBishop, taking it away from Ryan and away from Ewing Industries.”

“And I thought you spent all day just meditating.”

“I’m watch what you do.”

“I’m sure you always do.”

Jon plays horseshoes with Sam.

The young kids play Simon Says.

Amelia stops mid conversation with someone to notice Edgar step out on the patio with Katherine Wentworth. The woman she’d been talking to says, “Is that Katherine Wentworth?”

“I believe so.”

“Wow.”

Lucy welcome Katherine to her home with a great deal of tension. Katherine says, “It’s been an awfully long time.”

“Hasn’t it. Edgar, you know Katherine here is my Aunt Pam’s sister. You heard she and Uncle Bobby got remarried.”

“Yes I’d heard. Those Ewing men. They can’t help but remarrying the same women over and over again. It’s like they’re obsessed.”

“Well you’d know obsession.”

“So what are you doing these days, Lucy?”

“Nothing much. My husband recently passed.”

“Liam Riebmann. Now that’s an interesting family history. A Jewish family with a Nazi past. There’s a couple of tell-all books coming out on them. Should be titillating.”

“Well if it’s titillating you want, I’m sure you and Edgar Rosemont here can swap stories all night long. Listen, mingle, eat, I have to go check on guests sho don’t make me want to throw up.” Katherine chuckles as Lucy walks away.

Lisa says to Amelia, “Looks like your father is stirring the pot.

Edgar pulls Sam aside. “I’ve been thinking. You running Bishop is a good idea. With Henry Bishop as the Chairman. I think you’d have a good set up. One Wall Street would appreciate.”

“You don’t really care, do you? You’ll run Bing and that’s all you’re interested in. Or is Demeter what you really want?”

“Why would I want Demeter.”

“Seems like everyone does. Dia. The Ewing’s. My Uncle. Or are you hoping to maneuver certain assets into Bing instead of Demeter before the split?”

“Very good. I told your uncle not to under estimate you.”

“We both know he thinks he’s a king, but what he is, is a pawn.”

“And what are you?”

“I’m going to maneuver those assets into Bishop.”

“We’ll see about that.”

“We will. But it’s nice to know at least one of you won’t be underestimating me.”

Katherine introduces herself to Lisa and Amelia. “So, a run for U.S. Senate. I hear your chances are pretty good.”

“I’d like to think so.”

“Your father seems very supportive. Your mother-in-law, is she supportive?”

“Who?”

“Lucy.”

“Oh. I don’t think of her as my mother-in-law, though I guess she is Jay’s stepmother. Yes, she’s been very supportive.”

“Oh good. She’s on the board of the Ewing Foundation. They have very deep pockets. Though with that father and husband of yours you don’t lack for money. Still, Lucy has a lot of friends. One wonders who her next husband will be.”

“Does one?”

Ryan is filling his plate at a buffet table next to Margret Krebs. “I heard Amelia brought you in to her campaign. I’m his uncle, Ryan Riebmann.”

“I know who you are. You and your brother appeared in Washington together often.”

“Yes I know your mother well. Though she was never as friendly to the chemical lobby as she was to the oil lobby.”

“No I suppose not.”

“I’ve got to think she’s brought you in for bigger things then winning state wide election.”

“A Senate seat is a pretty big thing.”

“Let me guess. Your cousin, John Ross Ewing, asked you to help. The goal is to see her in the White House in four years.”

“Shouldn’t she finish a term in the Senate before that?”

“You tell me.”

“Come August you’ll see her give a very powerful speech at the convention. Pay close attention.” Margret takes her plate away and leaves Ryan to ponder.

Including Sam, Jon stands around chatting with some friends and one asks, “What does Jay Ewing see in you. He’s young, good looking, rich as all hell. You’re, well. You’re you.”

Another friend says, “Maybe he’s into science nerds.”

Sam says, “Don’t pick on my cousin.”

“I just can’t believe you’re gay. All these years we thought you were asexual.”

“You ain’t even gotta be a sugar daddy. The kid’s richer than you.”

Jay approaches, handing Jon a full plate. “So, what are we talking about?”

“Why you’re with Jon.”

“Shouldn’t the question be why Jon’s with me?”

“Know we know why he’s with you.”

Jay pulls up his shirt and pats his ripped abs. “I’m not nearly as smart as he is.”

“That’s not true,” Jon says. “You’re very smart. There’s more to smart than science. And you’re fun.”

His friends laugh. “That’s a good thing because Jon never did recognize fun on his own.”

“And you’re nice. A better person than anyone I ever meet,” gesturing around to the gathering before him.

“Thank you. You’re not so bad yourself.“.

“You don’t happen to have a sister do you?”

“Yeah she’s ten. And with my dad, you’d end up in the bottom of that lake.”

Jon and Jay end you sitting alone on a garden bench as the sun sets behind them. Jay says, “That was nice what you said about me.”

“What was?”

“That I’m a better person.”

“You are. You’re kind and loving and you don’t do drugs, but you have a good time. And you are smart you know.”

“Thank you. My parents always told me I was smart, but I never felt like it. I shears felt like I had to charm my way through life. If that didn’t work I’d lie. You can’t keep charms and lies straight on drugs.”

“No I suppose you can’t. You’re close to Lucy.”

“She’s been there for me my whole life. No matter where she’s been. My sister that birthday she was sick as a dog in the South of France. She videos in ti sing happy birthday with everyone and then rubs out of the room to throw up.”

Jon laughs at that.

“She seems to look at Sam as a mother too.”

“Well, Lucy never had any of her own children so I suppose me and Sam are the closets she’s going to get. She’s known him for years. Long before she married Liam.”

“Yes she was seeing one of Uncle Liam’s good friends for a while.”

A police team pull a body out of a dumpster in Detroit. They turn it over. It’s the intern Amelia was in bed with the other day.

Gathering out on the patio of the Highlands, everyone watches the fireworks go off over the water below.

I love that you brought in Katherine Wentworth, that was a nice surprise! :)
Sweet also how Bobby and Pam ended up getting remarried.

Oh-uh Amelia's campaign is about to run into trouble now with the intern showing up dead!

Where is Highlands located?
You might have mentioned it in the first episode but I seem to have forgotten. :embarrassed:
You mentioned Lake Superior, so that should be in Wisconsin or Minnesota?

The hunting lodge is Lake Superior and in the upper peninsula of Michigan, near the Minnesota boarder in the Porcupine Mtns. Highlands is located in the upper part of the lower peninsula off Lake Huron in a fictional area about 3-4 hours (by car) north of Detroit, of course these people fly a lot.

Glad you liked it. There should be enough of Dallas tidbits to make people smile.

Episode 5

Jay sits by a fountain in the very center of Detroit watching the show of dancing streams of water. Don Lockwood sits down next to him. “Hey kid.” They don’t really turn toward each other, almost attempting to appear as if strangers.

“Long ways to come. Must be important.”

“I’m still married to your grandmother, which makes you family.”

“Oddest marriage I’ve ever seen.”

“Well more of an extraordinary friendship. Hard to live with a woman in love with another man. Anyway, I’m still looking for your friend. This guys good.”

“I told you he was.”

“Seems he was even trolling me. He made contact with me, at least I believe it was him, as the Count of Monte Cristo.”

“Oh that’s funny.”

“Called me the Earl Grey.”

“Perhaps he doesn’t know you’re the Earl of Maitland.”

“He knows I’m the 18th Earl of Maitland and every other detail one can think of. He wants me to relay to you he’s fine and he’s safe. He just needed to be off grid for sometime. He doesn’t know how long. And to tell you SinoHuà got what the Chinese went after.”

“The Ewing Process.”

“I’m assuming. They set fire to South Fork to distract him. He doesn’t have any intentions to stop. But neither do the Chinese.”

“So he must want me to look into SinoHuà.”

“I’m assuming. Dia Chi is in the board of SinoHuà. He’s your cousin Lucy’s friend, Liang’s cousin.”

“OK.”

“SinoHuà also has four non-Chinese members, including Katherine Wentworth.”

“So she manages to take sixteen percent of Ewing Industries and sits in the board of the company who stole Ewing Industries must valuable technology.”

“I can tell you her plan is to leave her son Robert in a very powerful position. Herbert Wentworth has possibly a billion dollars stashed around the world at the time of his death. Money she had full access to after her mother’ death. She’s invested it well. Add to it sixteen percent of Ewing Industries and she’s doing remarkably well. Anyway, SinoHuà is also after Demeter and your friend is right in their sites.”

“What do you mean.”

“SinoHuà sees Demeter as a way from them to expand the Ewing Process outside of China. But Jonathon Riebmann is also working on an ethanol patent which could kill gasoline all together, and they want it.”

“Who’s running SinoHuà?”

“Dia Chi may only be Vice Chairman, but he’s the one with the direct line straight to the communist party leadership. The rest of the Chi family isn’t too happy about him. Neither are the Channing’s. His wife is a Channing.”

“Lisa?”

“Lisa’s grandmother is Richard Channing’s sister.”

“Really? Interesting.”

“The Channing’s and the Chi’s are very close. Miao Yi is someone to look out for. He’s head of China’s National Energy Authority and a member of the Politburo Standing Committee. He’s Dia Chi’s contact.”

In the offices of BingBishop Ryan says to Sam, “The board meet with a quorum which did not include you. You won’t be President of Bishop. Nor will you be retaining your job here. Your severance check is on your desk. If I were you, I’d resign from the board as well. There’s no place for you here.”

“What? You can’t do that.”

“I can and I did. Now get out before I have you thrown out.”

Amelia’s campaign office is buzzing with the news of the murder of the intern who had been working in their office. While the staff grieves, the leadership meets in the office to discuss damage control. Margret watches, almost as if she’s studying them.

Amelia walks into the office, is bombarded but then Margret takes her to the side, asking for the office to be cleared. The campaign manager expecting to stay, she demands he leave as well. Once alone, Margret shuts the door and says, “You we’re sleeping with that boy.”

“What?”

“Listen let’s not pretend between the two of us. It’s like with your doctor. I don’t give a damn what you do, but it doesn’t help to lie.”

“Alright. Yes. How did you know.”

“The first lobbying job I ever had the firm hid a new client that week. J.R. Ewing. He told me he keeps tabs on everyone connected to him. He then said, it’d be best if I’m gonna survive to do the same. He said I don’t care you do, just as long as I don’t get surprised by it.”

“So you had me followed?”

“You think I’m alone in that. You’re the daughter of a very rich man. More importantly your the daughter of a very powerful man. You’re married into the Riebmann family and you’re the front runner for one if just one hundred Senate sears in this country. There’s talk you’ll be a presidential contender. A lot of people are watching you. They just hold onto information. And they’re holding onto this.”

Lucy stands in the Ausable River fly fishing with Sam. “Are you sure you want this?”

“It’s what dad wanted, me to take over Bishop.”

“I understand that. I come from a family with a family business. So I have to ask, is it worth it?”

“Yes.”

“I’ve known you your whole life. I remember when you were born and I remember your parents horrid divorce.”

“I remember hanging out at your apartment.”

“You’ve always been like a son to me. My only child, I suppose. Well kind of you and Jay, as close to children as I’m ever going to have. I don’t want to see you get into this. We can diversify and invest and you’ll have more money than your great grandchildren can spend. Why fight this?”

“I shouldn’t have to fight my uncle.”

“We both know he’s power hungry. He thinks Demeter will be his ticket. He’s going to be fighting a lot of people for that piece. You’re better off without it.”

“I don’t want the split up. BingBishop is a big chemical company. The diversified lines will keep us profitable even if oil prices bottom out or some competitive product takes market share from sone product or another. I get the idea of focus and driving up market value, but . . .”

“But what you want is size and the power that comes with it.”

“Uncle Ryan is just looking to profit off dad’s death.”

“Oh I agree. But that’s his issue. I still think you should walk away. I watched my family tear itself apart. My father ended up a drunk. My Uncle JR died alone in a seedy hotel. My Uncle Bobby once wished his cancer had killed him. My cousin Christopher was in a coma, third degree burns from head to toe. My cousin John Ross was slowly loosing his mind.”

A memory:

A younger Lucy approaches a younger John Ross in the hall of a court house. “What are you doing?”

“Lucy. Here to see the massacre?”

“Christopher’s fighting for his life I’m a hospital bed and you’re taking the family to court.”

“They could just hand me what’s mine. They’re call. Bobby and my mother borrowed the money to buy Ewing Global from me and my sister.”

“Because Carlos DelSol set the loan up for your father. At least give them a chance to pay you.”

“Why should I?”

“They’re family.”

“Did they give a damn I was family? Did Uncle Bobby care when I wanted my share of South Fork oil or when he got in the middle between me and Chris and buried the company in debt so Cliff Barnes could take it? Did my mother give a damn about family when she helped him do it? Or did Uncle Bobby care about family when he got her out of where I put her, then left her alone in a house full of booze? She almost killed herself. Don’t preach to me about family. My dad’s dead and my mom loves hooch more than she loves me. My marriage is a god damn business deal. So yeah you better believe I’m getting mine.”

“I see. And you’re right.”

“About?”

“Everything you said. It’s all a fight and what do we have to show for it?”

“Just money.”

“You’re right. That’s all that’s left of this family.” People gather around, walk past and turn to stare. “I’m sorry John Ross.”

“For what?”

“All this fighting. It’s only money. Take it. It’s not like they’ll be homeless. I shouldn’t have come here.”

“Why did you come here?”

“Because I thought . . . Because I thought I should at least tell you off, but I was wrong. Take it. Your father set it up for you. Just, just please do better by Jay and Steven. Please don’t teach them to fight. Please.”

John Ross says, “I don’t want to fight. You think I want this. You don’t think I’d like to know somebody gives a damn about me.”

“JR did.”

“And he’s dead.”

She hugs him. “I’m so sorry John Ross. I’m so sorry.” She cries.

In an office John Ross signs papers. So I’ll share the company with Uncle Bobby and my momma and Ellie. But this sets up the Jock Ewing Trust with you as trustee.”

“I don’t understand,” Lucy says.

“Grandpa should have left something behind to us grandchildren equally, not just CyberByte to me. This makes it so all he did, and all us grandchildren share in that inheritance. And you’re the oldest.”

“Really?”

“We’ve got a new rule. Ewing’s don’t fight Ewing’s.”

“I like that rule.”

Lucy and Sam continue fly fishing in silence.

Jay walks down onto the beach below Highlands where Jon and a ten year old boy build an elaborate sandcastle. Jon introduces his son Brooklyn. Jay joins in as Jon opens a water passage and a wave fills the moat.

Anthony and Jillian and Jacqueline, Albert and Calvin come running down to join. Running right into the water, Brooklyn follows.

SEC and FBI agents walk into the offices of BingBishop arresting Ryan.

Dia, Edgar and Katherine meet at DIA’s house overlooking Lake Huron. “What the hell happened?” Katherine demands.

Edgar says, Ryan was cooking the books. Everything with Bishop was over inflated. Now the stock is tanking.”

“OK, so good. We buy.”

“That was the plan. I knew he was cooking the books. I was going to expose it when I was ready.”

“So the SEC caught wind of it and acted first?”

Dia says, “I think it was Lucy Ewing.”

“Lucy? What makes you think that?”

“The Jock Ewing Trust, which she oversees, has been buying shares. So has the Shepard Fund, which one of her x-finances runs, a cousin of Sue Ellen Ewing. And the Sovereign Fund of the Emirate of Al Ain, which is managed by another x of Lucy Ewing’s. And the Kellogg Fund, run by Jay Ewing’s biological mother.”

“What?” Edgar says.

“And Richard Channing and my cousin Liang Chi oversees several family funds and of course, Ewing Industries. We’re too late. They’re gobbling you control. I told you there was nothing to gain by firing Sam.”

Edgar says, “You told Ryan. And then you went right along with doing so. That bitch is going to hand Sam our company!”

Dis says, “I don’t care about the company. I just want Demeter. I’m going to see what I can negotiate with Lucy.”

Katherine says, “You really think Lucy Ewing is going to negotiate with you? First she’ll play dumb. But she’s never going to agree. Demeter is going to be sold off to Ewing Industries.”

“Well that works well for you,” Edgar says. “You’ve got stakes in both sides of this game.”

“But what I want is all of Ewing Industries, Wentworth Industries, starting with oil out of the South China Sea JR Ewing only wishes he could have got at.”

Lucy brings in a birthday cake lit with candles singing, into a small cottage, with Liang next to her. Inside Jon is surprised. Jays with him and do are the kids and, Lisa, Sam and Amelia, all singing happy birthday to Jon. He blows out the candles. Lucy says, “So Sam and I talked about it and we want to give you this cottage as a birthday present.”

“Really?”

Sam says, “Of course. We’re cousins. I want you to come up here with us every summer and bring Brooklyn.”

“Thank you.” The two hug and then Jon hugs Lucy.

Sam walks into the offices of BingBishop, into the huge corner office and stands behind the desk.

Amelia walks in next. “President and Chief Executive. It suits you.”

“I think it does. And your career?”

“The campaign is doing well. I’m up fifteen points in the polls.”

“Nothing coming out about that kid you were sleeping with turning up murdered.”

“Nothing.”

“Yet.”

It’s a technical marriage only at this point in their lives as she lives in Texas and he lives in England, but as they did not say anything about a divorce in the two movies or TNT, I decided to leave them married. Plus it makes her Countess Maitland or Lady Sue Ellen, which I always liked for her. But don’t worry, when she passes John Ross will burry her with JR. even Don knows who her true love is.

Well considering that Sue Ellen went under the name "Sue Ellen Ewing" on Dallas TNT I always assumed she had divorced Don, moved back to the US and taken back the Ewing name. But I guess it was never addressed on the show so you can use whatever creative freedom you need to write the story any way you see fit.

I assumed the same thing until my wife was writing out a birthday card to her sister. Even though she is remarried she still has her x-husband’s last name. I mentioned it as being odd and was told it was because she wanted to keep the same last name as her two sons, and that she had gone by it for so long as an adult everyone knew her by the name. So I thought, why not. So you can call her Sue Ellen Ewing or Lady Sue Ellen or Countess Maitland. She’ll answer to them all.
