I believe "shed-ule" is the UK pronounciation of the word and "sked-ule" is the American way of saying it.

I think that's right.
"Shed-ule" used to be more common here; if you said "sked-ule", you were accused of trying to sound American.
Now it's reversed; if you say "shed-ule" (which I still do), you're accused of trying to sound English.

Why would you be accused of trying to sound English if you say it the English way?
