How Would You Have Explained Parmalee

What I would have done was have him be Neil Ewing, Jock and Jason's younger half-brother through their father Leander, who abandoned his family and married a woman named Suzanne. Neil grew up in poverty and envied the wealth his brother Jock accumulated after discovering him. Neil and Jock confronted each other for the first time on the helicopter, which led to a struggle that caused the crash. Neil turned out to be the sole survivor, and while in recovery, he began brainstorming the perfect scheme to assume Jock's life and take what he felt he was deprived of. How would you have explained this mysterious character's background?

I'm not sure if that explanation is legal.

Interesting idea .... but would Bobby have found out about this earlier when he was searching for the helicopter?

I was thinking Neil/Wes would have admitted it himself when his conscience eventually got to him. I felt it could have led to a gradual redemption. I think a Ewing uncle would have helped fill in Jock's void in certain places.

I think Parmalee should have been Jock. I was in favor of a recast, since I don't think the series was ever as good without Jock
My objection is that if WP was Jock, he wouldn't have been so secretive at first.
Jock would have returned to SF, reassumed his place and displaced Clayton, who was indeed an interloper (and more) as JR described

That's easier said than done. Jock was legally declared dead. And they're supposed to just accept this man who doesn't look like Jock as the head of the household?

Proving his identity isn't much different whether he tries immediately on arrival or after the discovery of the pendant forces his hand.

Jock should have been recast. When the boys go to the jungle they find him all battered and brusied. Looks different, so what? We are adults we accept actors replace each other. No different than going to a play and seeing the Understudy. Fixed. NO worthless plot characters like Clayton.

I know I´ll be crucified (don´t dare to!) but IMHO Wes Parmalee / whoever he was is one of the characters (along with April, of course) that I would erase from the whole show. Imagine Season 10´s beginning with "none of that happened". Then we can advance a bit the oil crisis plot and BD Calhoun, and make all of them deal with that. "Return to Camelot" ending with Jenna (and viewers) knowing that she is preggie with Bobby´s child. Let´s see how JR wheels and deals to get the mercenary paid, with NuStrongBobby following each of his steps.

Meanwhile, Pam still remembers her dream and thinks some things are premonitions, so she begs Sue Ellen to stop drinking otherwise JR will commit again in a sanitarium, and SHE knows too how nasty rocking bottom and its aftermath is. Sue Ellen meets Dusty a second time (the first one in "Swan Song" was NOT a dream!) and he tells her that he will help her and wants her, but he can´t divorce her because she is in her deathbed. Sue Ellen plots to secretly meet Linda and she realizes that Melody Anderson has never looked better. So she tells Dusty to f*** off because she´s over with liars.

Jenna is stalked by a certain blond who has found out she is expecting a mini-Bobby. It´s Katherine (who else?) and tries to pull a little hit and run on her, but Charlie is killed instead. Then Jenna feels oh-so-guilty and leaves after telling Pam she´ll never be a real Ewing unless she gives birth to a baby. Good ride you b**** and don´t dare to appear on TNT´s Dallas. Donna becomes an executive oil baroness and uses all her charm and good sense to attract Ray and forget about divorce. But Donna is told by Pam that she feels she might suffer a miscarriage as she dreamed. And at the end, that is what happens when Donna falls downstairs (she had to, it´s a must for all Ewing women). But they´ll always have each other.

Jamie overhears Cliff bitching about her to someone and guesses that he doesn´t love her, and sets a plan to frame him with Jack´s help. She steals some of his associates and goes to work with Donna. Jack finds out he´s gay and Jamie takes him to the infamous Sue Ellen´s lesbian bar, where she goes from time to time. Now it is run by a South American woman called Angelica... who sets her sight on Jamie. But she turns out to be Jamie´s real mum, and she tells her that Jack was the outcome of an affair between Jason and Miss Ellie!

Who needs Parmalee with these storylines?

You know, this is the one thing that might have made the dream explanation work. At least we wouldn't have been left with the bitter feeling that the year we'd invested our emotions in didn't count at all.

Unfortunately, Katzman had no interest in making it work. His attitude about DALLAS seemed to be "it's mine again now!" and that was that. Otherwise, he probably wouldn't have used the dream explanation in the first case.
