Another interesting fact about the first broadcast in Germany:
In Italy and Spain Knots Landing was titled "California". The German title should originally be "CALIFORNIA - Unter der Sonne Kaliforniens". "Unter der Sonne Kaliforniens" was actually only intended as a subtitle. "California" should be the main title of the series. At the same time, the private broadcaster RTL bought the daily soap "Santa Barbara" and gave it the German title "California Clan". In order to avoid confusion, ZDF took the subtitle "Unter der Sonne Kaliforniens" (Under the Californian Sun) as the main title.
I found old promotional material with the words "California - Unter der Sonne Kaliforniens". Also in 1993 some TV magazines still printed the old title and put pictures of the main actors in the "O" of CalfOrnia. A bit cheesy, but somehow "beautiful" cheesy.

I thought Knots had been the only one not to get a full rerun at that time, I recall my mother being very disappointed when it disappeared from its mid morning slot. Like the 2011 rerun, I had thought they had only aired the first 7 seasons.
You're right. I've had a look at that Classic RTE Guide Facebook page and Knots Landing does seem to be the one series that they messed around with in that rerun slot. Dallas started out the reruns in the afternoons in 1997 before being moved to the 10:30am slot that I remember them all in. It was followed in that slot by full reruns of Dynasty, The Colbys and Falcon Crest. Knots was last to air, running from November 1999 to May 2000 before they took it off (presumably around the end of season 6) and replaced it with Hart to Hart. That show stayed in the slot from May to October 2000 (with a bit of interruption because of the Olympics) before Knots returned again 5 days a week in November 2000. However, by early 2001, it was only being aired once a week on a Friday, I'm guessing to burn off the rest of the season 7 episodes. So between this and then the middle of the night double bills of 2011, Knots hasn't actually had a decent rerun on RTE.

After Santa Barbara went off the air Genoa City was the place to be on French daytime in the 90's and 00's. I remember reading an article on a French media site about Y&R's ratings decline and I was stunned how many million viewers watched the soap back then, so just the fact that TF1 aired KL twice in Y&R's lead-out timeslot means KL must have been quite popular in France.

16131125241593353756828726062203.jpgUnfortunately, I didn't save any other clippings ( I know I had one with family trees, which my friend gave me). But I did save this one for some reason and even wrote the date of the newspaper (November 7th 1995).
This is from the T. V. Section in an Israeli newspaper showing when Knots Landing was aired, I think for the second or third time. As you can see, not a good slot. The first time it was broadcast, it was on at 9pm and there was a big deal about it in Israel.

Wow. That's great. Thanks for posting the article. Unfortunately, I can't read the writing. What does it say about Knots Landing? Is there an episode described? What was the title of the series in Israel? ... and when you write: "there was a big deal about it", do you mean that KL was very popular in Israel? Thank you very much for answering!

In my collection I still have a number of press photos from the TV station SAT.1
On the back of the pictures you can
find information about the episode with its content, actors and broadcast dates.
At that time, these pictures were sent to television magazines. Today it all happens digitally.
