I wonder if we'll ever know Crawford's true birth year. I know she widely cited 1908, which seems quite unlikely. I'm inclined to go with 1903 or 1904.

Thanks, @ClassyCo.

It's 1903. The "1908" was the public date (like "1950" for some people) and others have suggested "1905" and "1906".

There are evidentiary arguments against all of the cited years, so perhaps Joan was spored (hence, the 'Le Sueur' surname).

Crawford, neurotic control freak to the end, told two different astrologers two different birth years: 1903 and 1904.

I..... I don't know that means.
That´s what the sister of the protagonist tells Muriel all the time, no matter what she does. Muriel is played by Toni Colette in her breakout role. In context, it´s terribly funny...

Whatever her actual year of birth, the prospect that she was lying about the date not out of vanity but to monkey around with her astrological outlook is, well, very Crawford.

Probably vanity.

For one thing, if she was born in 1904, Crawford would be Sun in Aries/Scorpio Rising/Moon in Gemini --- just like Bette Davis! (People with similar horoscopic make-ups, tend to be attached in scandal --- real or fictional). But Joan, born in 1903, looks like she could the aunt of Sue Ellen Ewing (as they shared Scorpio Rising/Moon in Aquarius -- with different sun signs).

And Joan couldn't even be consistent with different astrologers??

As similar as Joan & Bette were, they weren't that exactly alike (with Bette's blunt, black-eyed affect a la Moon in Gemini, and Joan's Moon in Aquarius face -- like Linda Gray).

BTW: Sun in Aries/Scorpio Rising as a big deal, gothicky star-wise; most of the "the queen of __________s" are Sun in Aries/Scorpio Rising, regardless of Moon sign.
