What a gentleman!

I'll say he was, was Johnny F.! I was planning to remember that centennial the day of, but Snarky's Ghost beat me to it!

More commemoration-- his first of two (maybe three) title credits from O-R ABC Dynasty:

As some people know on the Forum, I own 3 of Barbara Bel Geddes's own personal scrapbooks which i acquired from her grand daughter

I was thrilled to see in one of them there was a telegram from John (and Julie) Forsyth wishing her all the best on opening night for a new play on Broadway

I never watched Dynasty but he was always the voice of Charlie to me from Charlies Angels

or from a Hitchcock film trouble with harry (not one of Hitch's best films IMHO)

From all primetime dads his character is the only one i can really accept and look up to, even though they messed him up.
But how he came to terms with his son(s), he would really be the only soap person and real father figure i would go to ask for advice and like to live up and hold on to.
I wish he was still around. Deeply missed! :(
Sometimes when i'm struggeling, i really wonder "what would Blake feel or think about this now?" - and mostly that really helps to bring me back on track. I guess.

IIRC, he was also in a first-season episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, "Premonition" (OAD Oct. 9, 1955 on CBS).

John Forsythe was the Cary Grant of Primetime small screen, he was the epitome of the golden era gent with class, thinking of him now makes me yearn for old Hollywood and not to live in the age of Hollyweird, he just acted and did the job extremely well even on Dynasty when the writing for him wasn't so great for a number of years, but he was still the professional.

I've seen a few of his films, my favourite of his was when he bought a small town newspaper, his co star was the lovely, doe-eyed; Loretta Young, his character wrote an article about it raining and a rain machine, its an offbeat film from.the early 1950s, but still wonderful.

So happy birthday John Forsythe, have a whiskey up there Mr Carrington ;-)
