Dallas Couples JR & Sue Ellen - Swoonalicious Appreciation Thread

@Karin Schill as you can see it’s probably not a great idea to bring up the events surrounding the cliffhanger of season 10 (11 DVD) right now. When mentioning the “event” that took place at the Ewing condo that night it’s probably better to say that Sue Ellen and J.R. were married for a third time, bought a beach house together, had six more kids and adopted twelve cats from the local humane society. @Ukdallasfan, @Miss Texas 1967 and others will attest to what we’ve been through on this thread recently. Please don’t ruin our hard work in trying to repair Sarah’s emotions over this “event” that took place. And as far as the character Jack Scalia played that season (I won’t mention his name out of respect for Sarah, and possibly the fact that I’m a little afraid for my life too), we will now officially move him over to the dream season so he never existed. Thank you for ur cooperation. So how about this weather?

Aw I love this thank you but I’m not being very fair. Sadly the Twitter post yesterday has tipped me over the edge.

You guys talk away - Karin has missed the in between bits (probably best for her sanity) but has unfortunately made it back in time to see me lose the plot completely (aka Season 11 onwards).

It’s rather selfish of me to scream and shout like this, so I’ve decided to lock myself away (in jail for killing yesterday’s offender). Hopefully someone will show up and post me bail.

I am now aware of what my limits are and sadly despite my best efforts my mind seems to become possessed as soon as Kimberley Cryder comes out of the mud.

Please feel free to discuss whatever aspect of these (hideous) events without me while I have (further) therapy.

Not fair of me to ask you not too but I do love the hilarious post @DallasFanForever :ex::bravo1::funny:

I shall return when the doctor (shrink) says it is safe for me to do so.

As you were good people.

Well I probably haven't logged into my twitter account for about a month. So yes if something has been going on over there in the past week or so I have been completely out of the loop. :confuse: Can anyone fill me in?

I don't have Twitter so I have no idea what happened there but if I had to take a guess someone mentioned M***y and you know how @Sarah feels about that lol. As for here, you didn't miss much just going over the storyline that ended in the Ewing condo. I think you have quite a unique perspective on the situation having seen it for the first time before you saw the earlier parts of the JR/SE relationship in the show :)

Och thanks but I do get carried away sometimes. Ok if anyone does want to join in, I wondered what you think may have happened, had Sue Ellen agreed to go out with JR for dinner after she saved him from Mr Lombardi and he saw her at Southfork? (Cally was on the balcony).

PS not just ‘get back together’, I need a dissection of thoughts to pacify me. :two:

Having watched it now I think if Sue Ellen agrees to have dinner with him then it would’ve definitely opened the door for them to at least call a truce. I don’t think they would’ve gotten back together however at this point for a multitude of reasons, all having to do with the way the show was being written at the time. See, this is why I hate the later seasons cause it’s hard to figure out what they (the writers) were doing and so many characters were doing things that were out of their normal means of thinking. Sue Ellen was making her movie and Linda was leaving the show in a few months so I don’t see a reconciliation with JR being on the table. Plus there’s Cally in the picture now and they’re about to get married, not to mention Don. If there’s no movie storyline then I can see J.R. and Sue Ellen becoming friends again and when she leaves at the end of the season they’re on much better terms. I think he was very thankful that she saved his life when she could’ve very easily thrown him to the wolves and let Nick’s father have his revenge.

Okay I'm not gonna take into consideration that Linda was leaving the show but just go with what would make sense whereas the characters are concerned.

Well at this point JR was married to Cally but he didn't want to be. John Ross didn't like Cally and Sue Ellen still loved JR even though she didn't want to love him.
So I think if JR, Sue Ellen and John Ross would have gone out for dinner together they would have had a nice time together. JR would have used his son to get closer to Sue Ellen again like he did when they were divorced the first time. So the three of the would continue spending time together, going on family outings. Sue Ellen would enjoy that since John Ross is living with JR at Southfork she is feeling a bit lonely. Then eventually when Sue Ellen's defenses were down a bit JR would start to court her properly. Bring her yellow roses. Drop by her house or office unannounced. They would get closer again. Maybe spend a night of passion together. After that JR would find out what Sue Ellen is doing, producing a movie about their life together and he would feel betrayed. They would argue and have a fall out.

JR would then use another woman to get Sue Ellen jealous. It would succeed and she would come back to him. :)

As for Cally. I think she would be jealous of Sue Ellen and at first she would try to fight for JR's attention and love. But eventually she would realize that it's better for John Ross to have his parents together so she would back off and agree to getting a divorce. JR would feel guilty about using her and would offer her a huge divorce settlement which is enough for her to stay on in Dallas, living a good life. Cally would start working at the art gallery and maybe start dating Alex.

Thanks you guys! Great answers. I do wonder all the time had Linda not been leaving would they have reconciled, I mean, nothing made sense for me when they were apart.

I think if Linda had been given better material she would have stayed. This is why I don’t understand why Larry didn’t speak up and say ‘the Kimberley storyline is ridiculous’. But I know at that point Linda had made up her mind.

And yes Sue Ellen loved JR but I also believed he loved her too still, right? @Karin Schill @DallasFanForever

I'd like to think J.R. would've gone in and got John Ross like he said then they all went to a local diner or something simple and just spent an hour or 2 together. All 3 of them sure needed a family moment like that and it would've been fun to see them reconnect on a basic level then see where it went. But "Dallas" didn't really do those kind of scenes, especially at that time when it was all about big explosions ... relationships, dams, whatever. Boom. :(

@Goldie yay!!!!!! Thank you for taking part. I just can’t accept that it would have ever gotten to a point where they let each other go completely. I can’t do it.

Thanks, Sarah! Hey, always glad to chat about all things JR&SE and L&L. And we as fans are sooooooo lucky we never had to get to that point that they let each other go completely. That would've been awful and a total waste of the rare chemistry between L&L. Those moments between them right through the TNT stuff were golden.

P.S. Well, small edit here ... at the time when Sue Ellen got on a plane for London ... that *was* awful and exactly what you were talking about because it did feel like the end. So glad "J.R. Returns" fixed that.
