Lack of interaction between Miss Ellie and James

Trick-or-Treat Stevens

'The Lovely Michelle'
Who was actually older: Lucy or James? In season 13, Lucy was obviously supposed to be older, but if you do the math, James should have been a few years older than Lucy, right?
I was under the impression that Lucy was older than James. I got the impression that Lucy was born around 1961 (when Gary and Val were teenagers) whereas James was born around 1967 or so.

Oh, I agree that it was a total mess. I was fine with JR having a secret child with some teenage (or college) girlfriend, but that was just the writers trying to make Vanessa and JR "happen" in the most contrived way possible because they had lost Linda Gray; of course it didn't work. If they wanted an age appropriate past girlfriend to come back that was also fine, just don't oversell it.
JR’s one true love was Ewing Oil

It’s very hard for me to make rhyme or reason out of the plots of the later seasons without getting a severe headache. Everything is just so over the place. It’s like a totally different show to me.
Yes. You lost the cohesión of the family. Everyone was gone. It was only about Bobby & JR. But their plots didn’t interact. I have a hard time believing JR was faithful to Vanessa when they were together.

Even so, the whole concept of JR somehow maintaining a relationship with someone as hopelessly antiquated as Granny Beaumont just beggars belief. It was an insult to viewers' intelligence to think that JR would even mention her in the same breath as Sue Ellen.

Since when did JR dig women his age? He was a scoundrel and liked them younger.... Why did the series begin to hate JR?

I'm in Season 11 with the moron Nick Pierce. SO many issues. April is now worth a quarter of a billion dollars and she does nothing of interest or significance with it. She's not a threat to JR, she's flirty with Bobby.... why?
I never understood taking Ewing Oil away.... it should have been split in thirds in the 8th Season and JR had to fight to get it back. And now JR barely acts like anything happened and he has an ugly office with terrible decor.

I agree. It was out of character for JR to just accept this person as his son without question when he was that way with Jamie. Also, it destroyed JR and John Ross's relationship with JR treated John Ross as an afterthough which was hard to watch.
I completely agree. This was one of the hardest things to watch. One of the most endearing qualities of the Ewings is the strong father son bond

Absolutely. I've pushed for the "daughter" on TNTs Dallas to be the child Julie had while away between season 1 and Julie Returns - timelinewise it would work having her give birth and would explain why she was kept hidden all those years.

If there's one soap character I could see having multiple secret off-springs it's JR. He was a complete manwhore.
Julie Gray was a great character gone too soon. Tina Louise was so hell-bent on shaking loose her Ginger Grant persona- She did and needed to stay longer. I love the idea of a long-lost daughter- her mother was killed by the Ewings and the Barnes feud.... might have happened had the big heads actually watched the old show.

That’s the problem with the female story arcs. They only focused on their romantic interests. So much more could have been done with April and Katherine both rather than being obsessed with Bobby. Personally, I think April and JR would have made an interesting pairing. Both power hungry. No romance

Interesting point! April was pointless. Sheri is a beautiful lady, but so wasted..... Also these later years prove Bobby had to reason to be there. Although the series dumped everyone, including the family dynamics!
