The second season was Lance's best season, by a country mile. Lorenzo Lamas was so good at playing narcissistic bad boy Lance. His pairing with vixen Melissa assisted in making 1982-'83 a really strong FC time. Just to show you the type of him; he started seeing his old flame Lori Stevens, after dropping off wife Melissa to birth classes. Well I suppose he knew in his hearts of hearts the baby wasn't his. To rise him even more Melissa got under the sheets with Richard and still had eyes for Cole.

It was 'hook, line and sinker' for Angela's grandson, whenever sweet Lorraine appeared in season 4. This period was enjoyable too, certainly up to when Lorraine fell from the outside stairs in Chinatown. Lance turned on the water works a lot then i.e. crying.

Lance is getting ready to rumble.

Melissa and Lance go to see Angela, in her study. Richard has approached Melissa about buying the Agretti grape harvest. For years this was a Falcon Crest rolling contract; (a scene from season 2, 1982 – ’83):

Lance: “If you want the Agretti crop you’re going to have to give Melissa and I a little more say on how things are run around here.”

Angela: “I see!”

Melissa: “And you’re going to have to put Lance in the will.”

Angela smirks at them: “Oh, you drive a hard bargain.”

Lance: “Well I had a very good teacher.”

Angela: “Too bad you weren’t a better student.”

Melissa looks over at Lance.

Angela: “Melissa you go right ahead and sell your crops to anyone you like.”

Lance: “You can’t be serious. Without the Agretti crops Falcon Crest wines will never be the same.”

Angela: “Who knows the wines may be improved.”

Lance: “We can’t take that chance.”

Angela: “We? I’m going to call your bluff Lance. I can do without you, without Melissa and the Agretti grapes but can you do without me? Now is there anything else you want to talk about?”

Melissa storms out of the study, seemingly in a huff.

It's weird in my case because I didn't originally start turning in, or paying attention in real time until season 7. From that point forward, Lance didn't seem like that bad of a guy, outside of the cheating on Melissa with Nina(was it?). and that might have even been as far back as season 6..

It was interesting then to years later watch the 1st season version of Lance. I don't know. I'm not sure which version of him I like best. We certainly didn't need two Cole like characters, and I am more of a Lance fan than a Cole fan. Just more interesting to watch. However, is someone like the early Lance someone I'd want to know in real life? Nah..

From season 7 forward, he seemed kinda like a mixture of Cole and himself, even though we still had Cole's replacement, Dan Fixx.. :re: Fixx was ok his first season, but once his sister and all of that came on the scene.. Yeah, Lance did a fine job of kind of being Cole and his own character in those last few years.

Then, though, with Lance being less of a bad boy himself, he didn't contrast as well with people like Dan or...yes, even Dan's replacement, Nick Agretti.
