Last week the tenants in my building received notice that the workers renovating the fire escapes did not properly cover them, and we have al been exposed to lead. The board knew about this earlier, had their units assessed for lead. When they tested positive the board members relocated but didn't not tell anyone for over a week. The property management company has been very circumspect as well. Where it stands now is our units are being assessed for lead this week. If positive we have to relocate until they are cleaned. The unit has to be emptied of furnishings for that to happen.They are also removing all air conditioning tomorrow.
The board hired the contractors without checking to see if they were properly certified to work with lead.
