"Attacks of utter guilt and shame"?? For Ran and Ray alone? Lucy was of age at the time of her cavorting with her uncle, and neither one of them yet knew they were related.

A simple "oopsie!" would have sufficed.

But I agree it should have been brought up -- perhaps much later. The producers and CBS probably wanted to forget about it, but the audience never does!!
Ray was the older adult. Lucy may have been of age but she was still a silly naughty school girl.
Once it was announced Ray was Jock's son there should have been a nod to their antics, even much later as we say.

Dallas was fantastic at telling dramatic stories but was also fantastic at failing
to complete some of those stories and then simply forget them.
As you rightly say the audience doesn't forget.

But Lucy being of age is all that matters. Ray having prematurely gray hair doesn't make him a molester, nor does Lucy being a "silly naughty school girl" make her the victim. Their relationship was legal.

The incest part is uncomfortable but was unknown to both of them.

Everything between the end the original series in 1991 and Dallas: JR Returns in 1996.

What happened between Sue Ellen and Don Lockwood?
What happened to James Beaumont and his son Jimmy?
What happened to Cally and her baby with JR?
What happened to Michelle Stevens after JR got her released from jail?
What happened to Miss Ellie and Clayton? Did they ever return to Southfork?

There's a guy on YouTube who recaps Dallas episodes, and he referred to Ray as a "groomer" while recapping the mini-series/season 1 DVD.

The funny thing is, not only was Lucy of age, but she was also the one who was coming on to Ray. Ray would protest half-heartedly before ultimately giving in.

I also think people forget one can be of age and still be in high school. I was 18 my senior year. There may be maturity issues, but that's obviously separate from legal issues.

This has to be the biggest of them all. Uncle (Ray) and niece (Lucy) constantly disturbing the hay in the loft. When it was announced to the Ewing family Ray was Jock's son the camera should have panned to Lucy only for her to rush off to the bathroom and throw up. Firstly; we never did see any of the Ewing family frequent a bathroom. Secondly; it would have made for great television witnessing a Ewing throw up. That right there is realism ladies and gents.

How was it Ray and Lucy never discussed the horror of sleeping together. Nope. Never happened. Nothing to see...move on.
Ray's dalliance with Lucy is just one issue with the entire Season 1 incarnation of Ray that was dropped when he was later retconned into a virtual saint who worshipped Jock and was his perfect ranch foreman. Considering Ray's role in the incident that almost led to his granddaughter getting raped, its actually a wonder Jock was so generous in gifting him a parcel of Southfork.

On another note, I much prefer the Season 1 version of Ray. I would rather have seen him work deviously behind the scenes for 10 years instead of the sanctimonious fusspot he became later on.

I didn't say Ray was a molester or that Lucy was a victim. I'm also aware their relationship was legal and they didn't know they were related at the time of being intimate.

Rightly or wrongly Ray had more to lose if it became common knowledge besides Bobby and Pam knowing. He was scared of getting fired just for arranging for another ranch hand to take Lucy to school when Jock gave him that responsibility. Surely just out of respect and fear he felt for Jock he would have felt some guilt and shame when he learned they were related. Who do suppose Jock would have blamed?

Acknowledging some of Ray's feelings afterwards could have been handled sensitively and played out really well. I didn't exempt Lucy from blame or from having such feelings, I simply put forward my opinion of how Ray should have reacted when he learned Jock was his Daddy. I wanted Dallas to deal with the uncomfortable incestuous part and they could have.

As JR's villainy expanded, practically all of the characters had their rough edges smoothed out somewhat. Some of the actors have acknowledged this as well.

Well, see, all that makes sense!

In some States, 16 is the age of consent. In fact, 14 was up until recent years the limit in a couple of States, but that had to be raised because it was playing into the child bride market (parents selling their daughters into marriage).

Mind you, I'm not for middle aged men chasing young kids -- not even me (because I'm too old to catch them) -- but some folks want the man prosecuted, even when it's all legal, just because it "doesn't look good" to them.

And if we do that, then all sex will be outlawed!

This is how I imagine Jock being with Ray. I can't think he would approve of their relationship and them openly cavorting with each other even before the uncle bit.

Well, see, all that makes sense!
That's good then!

Good questions.
No mention of Don Lockwood again. They spent almost a whole season showing his "romance" with Sue Ellen and then she left Dallas with him as her big exit story. That's got me really wondering now what could have happened between them.

The James, Cally and Michelle ones I wouldn't have a clue and don't really remember their stories.

I hope Miss Ellie and Clayton returned to Southfork at some point. I imagine they ended up in a beautiful countryside nursing home with other rich folk and at long last found peace and tranquility.

I never particularly thought Don needed to be addressed again. I never thought that marriage would work out. Kinda assumed they parted amicably and went their own ways.
Oh me neither but some little explanation of why they hadn't stayed married would have been good especially knowing Sue Ellen's past history with men.

I want to imagine something a bit more than just parting amicably but then laid back Don probably wasn't capable of anything much more than he gave us in season 12.

The great Ian Mcshane is on a chat show over here tomorrow evening. I think he's doing something on Netflix or similar. Might have to watch that and see how he's doing.

If they needed nursing care, I hope they got private care at Southfork. And kicked the rest of the family out, so they could have some peace and a break from all the drama.

The rumor is it was a dispute over how he was always saying the word “Tomato” as “To-Mah-to.” Sue Ellen was fine with it at first but once John Ross moved in it became an issue. Mother had to choose a side and she chose her son, preferring his pronunciation of the word. They split amicably.

One thing I did like about Don was that he could stand up to JR and didn't fear him.

They only had a few scenes together but Don certainly got the better of JR in those scenes. Don was just laid back casual and didn't let JR intimidate him.

They should have shared more face to face scenes. We may have viewed Don in a whole new light.

Another mention of Don coming, bare with me please.

In a scene on TNT Dallas Sue Ellen says, "I've spent 40 years being cheated on, I'm pretty good at picking up the signals".

Am I missing something here? She wasn't with JR for 40 years, so is she referring to Don as well as JR in that sentence? Is that why him and Sue Ellen split up?
