Many have suggested the Monique is a composite of Monica and Dominique. Other than their complexions and similar sounding names, I don't see much similarity between the two. But what if they are more alike than I thought?...
What if many, many years ago - the nineties to be exact - Alexis was catting around Atlanta and Blake was looking for a sympathetic shoulder? He found one in a young woman in his employ. I'd suggest someone who worked for Carrington-Atlantic rather than a domestic servant (we must be progressive). Like Blake, the young woman was married, she also had a son. Their liaison resulted in a pregnancy. The woman was opposed to abortion and chose to keep the baby - a daughter - and pass her off as her husband's child. She and Blake ended their affair but Blake promised the woman her children would never want for anything. Blake set up scholarships but ensured his name and business were not directly linked to them; he ensured that both of the woman's children received the scholarships.
Years later an ambitious young man applies for work at Carrington-Atlantic. Blake is pleased with himself, thinking he has played a large part in his success. Blake takes it as a personal attack when the young man, Jeff Colby, develops a successful computer software program and decides to sell it to the highest bidder instead of turning it over to Blake.
Eventually the truth comes out: Monique Colby is actually Monique Carrington. Fallon's friend is now her sister - and bitter rival.
Maybe Monique isn't Blake's only illegitimate offspring. Just as Fallon and Jeff are thisclose to having sex, it's revealed that they are brother and sister.
