Music From Dallas

Thank you so much for posting all of this. :)
It's interesting how much longer the music scores actually were compared to what bits and pieces were used on the show as we rarely saw more than 30 seconds with music and yet the whole themes seems to be close to 3-4 minutes each.

I love the love themes. Every great TV couple should have their own love theme. Yet I don't seem to recall if JR/SE actually had one...

First of all, congratulations for the great work Garry has been doing with the "Dallas" scores he uploaded to YouTube. It´s amazing how he has improved (or covered maybe?) the original music and the devotion he clearly shows at performing this task. Please keep more coming. Also thanks to other fans who have shared some other themes and provided unknown information about this subject.

Last year I myself recorded a long number of "Dallas" scores and made a kind of "private" soundtrack for my own use, given that Warner or the composers don´t seem to be too interested in publishing these works from the series. I have uploaded 11 "Dallas" Suites to my new channel, which you can find here:

I decided to compile the music by composers, and choose my favorite episode cues and themes. The sound quality leaves a lot to be desired but I tried my best to edit all dialogues out, though not the sound effects. I upped the volume when necessary and toyed a little with what I had to get a better quality, but not too successfully. Here is a little sample:

Anyway, you can take a view at what each composer brought to the series, as well as a lot of frames of the scenes they scored. Since John Parker already released his own LP at the 80´s with the "Dallas" themes, I thought I´d be better focus on the rest of them. Late Angela Morley also did a great work in many episodes (25), but she came aboard quite late in the game (in Season 7) and also composed for the other supersoaps more often, and I don't associate her with "Dallas" anyway.

This is what you can hear by authors in my Channel:

- Jerrold Immel & Bruce Broughton (3 each)
- Richard Lewis Warren and Lance Rubin (2 each)
plus a "Bonus Track" with the cues for all the cliffhangers.

I hope you enjoy them!! :jump:

I forgot to say that I´ll also upload some music from "Knots Landing", "Dynasty" and "Falcon Crest" next week. I'll let you know when they are available to listen, if you like.;)

Thank you so much! I LOVE Swan Song.
We need a CD release NOW!

You´re welcome Philipe! It is my favorite score too, so romantic and tragic!!

There was some wonderful incidental music on Dallas over the years.

My appreciation for the composers knows no bounds, thank you to each and every one of them. :)

Garry - I had no idea so many stock/library tracks were used in 1980. "Children of Devon", at 03:10 in your complication, is one of my personal favourites.

So sad that after all these years not even a bootleg of the audio tracks has never made it out of the vaults. For other shows there has always been a fan who knew a crew member who had an old audio tape tucked away that mysteriously got released... One could only dream.

Where is Sue Ellen's "sexy" saxophone theme from the early seasons that made me want to cover my ears and run?
I laugh every time I hear that music. In her drunk scenes or where she was about to sleep with someone, I called it Sue Ellen’s slutty sax (or slurry sax if you prefer) ;) cracks me up. Gosh that woman’s fabulous

OMG this is so great!

Thanks very much to the both of you!

If you guys could do two others, I'd die happy!

1) The 300th episode (Booby and J.R. in the elevator)

2) The Decline and Fall of the Ewing Empire (Episode #355) I love the music at the end starting when John Ross hangs up and J.R. contempling suicide.

Thanks a lot @Thornton McLeish! Actually the last minutes of "The Decline..." are included in the second Richard Lewis Warren Suite (I take note of the other episode, as well as any others all of you may be interested in, though the next upload will be Knots-centric):

Again, sorry for the low sound quality. Kudos to @garry for his excellent work!
You can find the complete playlist of the Dallas score selection in the link below:

Ok, I just heard that! Didn't have the time to listen to everything, but I'll be back with more comments...

An offer I cannot refuse! :)

As soon as I'm finished, I'll try to come up with a (not too long) list.

Thanks again!

Bobby and April's love theme used on Dallas from 1989-90. This music is composed by Carlos Santana and was used on Dallas after being suggested to Leonard Katzman by producer Howard Lakin.

Does anyone know in which episode this song appeared first?

By the way, don’t forget to add Afton’s songs on the soundtrack list!! Steal Me Away, Let Me Down Gently, It Takes 2 to Fly and Through the Eyes of Winter were all sung by Audrey Landers on the show and can be found on her album Dallas Feels Like Home.
