Yes. C1 was, imo, the best Cristal.

I don't know why, I've watched the pilot again, a few days ago. Now that I know all the mess that was upcoming afterward (season 2, the endless recast, awful writing) it really made me enjoy the first episode a lot more than I did the previous time. With the light of today, I think that the first episode was not so bad, that Cristal 1 was not so bad. Even the directing and the photography were quite good. I really wished that The CW never killed Celia, and NS never left. I really think that the Alexis mess was 99% the writers' fault. Alexis was supposed to be that tornado in the Carrington's life, and she was merely a little wind. I mean, love or hate Nicollette but she wasn't the one coming up with the scripts and plots.

There were in season 1 great, absolutely great Alexis moments. But there was not much that NS could save with season 2...

Alexis was supposed to be the new bitch in town, like Amanda was in Melrose Place. MP's scripts were soapy as hell, and not very far from UFO abductions, but they had continuity and in general, made sense and were well written. I think Aaron Spelling's involvement with these shows made the difference.

Spelling made the difference? I don't think so. I believe he just saw the dollar$.
The soul of a show comes from the writers, the director, the camera work, the actors and their vision of the story. If those are all good, then the show will be as well.

Hehe true. Maybe Spelling just invested well, and hired good and/or profitable employees. At the end he just wanted money back to his account.

Btw, according to those made-for-tv unauthorized biographies, Tori helped her dad with critical decisions, such as hiring Jay Priestley or Shan Doherty as the Walshes twins in 90210, or casting Ms. Locklear as a new bitch in MP condo. Maybe T-Spelling could save Peach Dynasty with a piece of advice (sarcasm activated at high levels. Lol)

Back to Matt's comment, I like camera work and most of the actors in CW Dynasty. When it comes to writers, directors and their vision of the story... well, not so sure... I hope they already have a vision and that maybe it eventually matches what writers and directors do.

I'm rewatching Desperate Housewives (the show is so good in comparison with Nu Dynasty. Even the weakest seasons are better)... And the show was not the same without Edie Britt. The character was one of my favorite, if not my favorite. Killing the character off was such a stupid move from Marc Cherry.

Seasons 1-4 are still the best ones. 5-8 were totally different and the tone of the show rapidly shifted to sitcomish stories. Still better than NuDynasty though.

Currently watching season 6 episode 18.
The show still miss Edie very much. Imagine the interaction between her and Angie Bolen. It would have been amazing.

Anyway, as I'm watching DH again, I was looking for some informations about Nicollette's departure of the show. It seems she had a fight with Marc Cherry because she wasn't happy with a script (then she got a slap, then she complained, then her character got killed, then she sued him a few times, and then she lost)... But, I mean, she was unhappy with a Desperate Housewives' script. Imagine how unhappy she surely was with Nu Dynasty season 2 scripts... She came into the show to play a fucking powerhouse Alexis, and they wrote the character like a broke slutty clown... And a directionless one. I blame the writers. Serioulsy, I would clearly understand why Nicollette surely wanted out.

And I'm unhappy with what the writers are doing with Elaine's Alexis lately. Nu Dynasty writers never learn... They can make a few good characterization, but they always come back to embrace their crap. Aunt Alexis & her podcast? Come on...
