I think it's all that big fur and mega-eighties hair that makes it so entertaining., and it didn't take much to fill the space of a TV screen.but it’s a soapy movie from that era that I love
Even though it's an Aaron Spelling series I find that some of the characters (Peyton, Tom, Nick and Veronica) could exist in the world of TNT DALLAS.
This is a rare find! Don't think I've seen a promo for CPW with Kylie Travis in it.
Same here. I’ve also never seen her featured in any group shots of the cast either. I’m interested to know what the story behind her addition to the show was. Arriving in episode three, it’s not like she appeared super late in the season, so you’d wonder why they never took the opportunity to include her in promos, considering the level of promotion that the show received. I’m wondering was there feedback given after the pilot and she was added then or was it that they’d planned her arrival all along but the casting took time. I know that Kylie Minogue was up for a role in the show but eventually passed due to the level of commitment required being incompatible with her singing career, so maybe the other Aussie Kylie was a late substitute? This is a rare find! Off topic a bit, but was Kylie a popular name in Australia in the late 1960s and early 1970s? Off the top of my head there's Kylie Minogue, chef Kylie Kwong, Kylie Travis.I know that Kylie Minogue was up for a role in the show but eventually passed due to the level of commitment required being incompatible with her singing career, so maybe the other Aussie Kylie was a late substitute?
Thanks very much @DallasFanForever I’m glad you’re enjoying the posts. The print ads are kind of a lost art these days, so I enjoyed finding the old ones.@Carrie Fairchild thank you for all the time and energy you put into this thread on a daily basis. This has become one of the best threads we have here and we all appreciate your efforts!
I’m not sure but when she was on WWHL they asked her about the trademark issue with Kylie Jenner. She said she’d only ever met one Kylie that was older than her, so I’m guessing it wasn’t a common or popular name when she was born.Off topic a bit, but was Kylie a popular name in Australia in the late 1960s and early 1970s? In North America Kylie became a popular name in the late 2000s and early 2010s thanks to Kylie Jenner.
Even with the timeslot change to Monday nights, it should have been the natural thing for the Melrose Place 8pm audience to switch over to at 9pm. Personally, I thought the first season was excellent but the writing quality dipped in season two. Also, I don’t think it was the right fit for the fledgling WB network whose bread and butter would become more teen oriented fare. They liked the idea of having an Aaron Spelling series to help launch the network, unfortunately they got something that probably skewed a bit older than their demographic. Come to think of it, had Spelling sold Malibu Shores to the WB and Savannah to NBC, things could’ve been a lot different for both shows.Savannah was one I had high hopes for at the time. I know the first season did very well but I’m not sure why that didn’t continue. Creatively speaking I thought it was a really good show.
