Perhaps Cole could've found happiness with Li-Ying. They seemed to be going in that direction.

I've only finished the first seven seasons so far, but this is how I'd rank them:

Seasons 2 and 3 are peak FALCON CREST; Seasons 1 and 4 are better than their reputation might suggest; Season 6 is flawed, but fun; Season 5 is drab and stuffed; and Season 7 is messy and too tongue-in-cheek.

Piggy-backing off of this, I'll say that Season 8 was a total bore. Getting rid of Melissa (Ana Alicia) was one of the show's biggest mistakes, and top it off, they bring on a lot of new characters that we don't know and don't like all while slowing the pacing of the storylines down to a glacial speed. No wonder Season 8 was voted "Most Ruined Show" in the soap opera magazines. I've never bothered to finish it, doubt I ever will, and I've never even thought about moving into Season 9.
