Sable was NOT the Alexis of the show, Frankie was

If you can get past the witty bitchy barbs in a clipped English accent, I think you'll find that Sable was only trying to protect her marriage from a predatory woman in the same way that Krystle was. Frankie may have presented to the world a sweet demure personality but she knew exactly what kind of damage she was doing, and that's why she never dropped the performance as long as she made Jason continually compelled to be her knight in shining armour. Frankie was just as cunning and deceptive and destructive as Alexis ever was, except all of that was hidden behind a perfectly crafted Krystle-like damsel in distress routine. That's why the audience LOVED Sable, and I don't mean loved to hate Sable, I mean they loved her and sympathised with her all the way through. It's high time Francesca is ranked as one of the premiere villains in the Dynasty-Colbys because people need to see her for what she truly was: a crafty meddlesome bitch with a long-term game plan, hiding in plain sight.

The devil is in the detail, and every action in THE COLBYS had consequences.
It's true that both Alexis and Frankie were the absent mothers, lured back to the Carrington and the Colby kingdom respectively.
In Dynasty it was the death of Ted Dinard, in The Colbys it was Sable's determination to show her nephew the door. Pretty much like Angela Channing did.

Sable refused to accept that her son was not ready to take over from the "dying" patriarch and she also didn't approve of the fact that Jeff was going to take her Carrington daughter-in-law away from her, even though Jeff and Fallon were supposed to be married anyway. To hell with her previous husband-to-be, to hell with her son who was going to grow up in a broken family.

She didn't protect what belonged to her, she protected what she thought belonged to her. If she hadn't been so greedy and jealous then it's possible that Constance wouldn't have contacted Frankie in order to support Jeff.
Frankie had no intention whatsoever to ever go back there, but Sable's machinations made it happen. Once Jason and Frankie were reunited it was simply too late to ignore their greatest love of all - and it also didn't help that Sable kept stirring up trouble for the mighty Colby dynasty.

Sable was a greedy and competitive snob but she wasn't as hateful and vengeful as Alexis.
The Krystle/Alexis and Frankie/Sable dynamics were not identical. The characters and storylines come from different angles.

Alexis

I have said it many times before but Frankie was actually worse than Alexis, because everyone knew Alexis was a deadly lying viper and not to be trusted. And when she became the richest woman in Denver she went balls to the wall with it and stomped around letting everyone know she was that bitch.
Frankie was that kind of narcissistic devious mousey, seemingly non-entity that fools women into a false sense of security and then steals their husband. Sweet doe eyed Frankie. Poor Frankie, she's had such an awful time of it. Poor Frankie, loosing her husband so young, and leaving her with the baby. Poor sweet, innocent Frankie. Slutting around, shagging brothers, in love with Philip, in love with Jason, and lets not forget Roger, and Peter. Poor Frankie.

It's always a woman like Frankie.

Love your analysis of Frankie who was a horrible person. Not only bedding her husband's brother while he is serving his country in the Korean War who is also her sister's husband, but she deserts her son Jeff so she can travel Europe with no responsibilities.
