Hi Everyone,

Sadly I've been told by another forum member who was in contact with him on Facebook that he has passed away recently.

His real name was Roy and he's been a part of this community for over a decade. So if anyone wants to share any memories about him, leave condolances or just make a comment. This is the place to do so.

Rest in peace Roy. You will be missed around here. :rip:

Karin.

Oh, no!! He'd told me he'd had health problems for a while, but never went into how serious they might have been.

A lovely fellow, to be sure.

Being aware of his serious health problems I feared this might be the case but I was still hoping he'd return after a long recovery (one of his many recoveries).

I'm deeply saddened by this news because we connected almost from the very beginning (he joined because of the TNT Dallas discussions) and we had the same kind of humour. I'm going to miss him very, very much and it only goes to show that (relatively) anonymous internet people are still very much people.
It will take some time to process this but at the same time it seems like a good "opportunity" to extra-appreciate the long-term forum members who are still alive and posting here.
After all, we're not getting younger and people do die sometimes.

Thank you for all the good times, Richard Channing (FKA "Kristin Wentworth")

I'm deeply shocked and saddened by this news. I would sometimes affectionately call him "son" as a reference to our forum names. I will rememberhim and his contributions to this forum fondly.

This is such sad news. I found RC to be a very considerate and thoughtful person in our interactions, but he was also a witty and entertaining poster and we're lucky to still have his contributions to continue to enjoy. Whenever I scroll through the Sons and Daughters thread I still have a little chuckle at RC's observations - especially when he affectionately coined the alternative title:"Perms and Dentures".

The Soapland Battles the two of you gave us with your teamwork were legendary.

He was also a very creative person, just think of the DYNASTY '69 videos. I guess the reason he never finished the last one is because he simply didn't have the energy to do it.

Richard, Ome and I were in a mini-group chat for several years. When we did these Music Top Tens (themes, decades etc) participants could guess who had chosen a certain theme.
Ome got the idea to make it extra difficult to guess if Richard and I managed to confuse the participants with fake accusations and that sort of stuff.
Eventually, the chat became about all sort of things and that included a little bit of gossip here and there, but never in a hateful way. It was also the perfect spot to discuss the upcoming Soapland Battle.

From what I could gather, he's led a colourful and semi-bohemian life. I think he once joined an Indian spiritual community, that's something that would never happen to me.

I am very sorry about his passing. He had been through health problems but was very positive and optimistic about his recovery. We did talk about Facebook and he was a very spiritual, curious, creative person who loved Thailand and wished he was able to live there again. He also lived in Spain for awhile and sometimes I made some private jokes that you could only understand if you lived here.

I was a big fan of his "Dynasty'69" videos and asked him a few technical questions about it. I guess you can never get to know well someone you have only interacted with online, but he always seemed to me a very accessible, generous person. As you have said, this forum gives us a great opportunity to meet amazing people that make up for those atrocious internet trolls out there. Rest in peace dear Roy. Meet you again with a bit of luck.
