Scenes that annoy you

The scene when Cliff was in the hospital after his suicide attempt. Pam referred to Digger as a loser. Digger might not have been the greatest father, but he still had a hand in raising her. I thought it was cruel.
Pam was trying the tough approach towards Cliff and didn't like when he said Sue Ellen was all he had. Pam reminded Cliff of having Rebecca and Afton.

Pam then praised Cliff by telling him when they were young she thought he was the most wonderful thing that ever happened. She said she didn't think he was a quitter.

Pam said she realised Cliff was just human like the rest and that the rest of them bounced back from their mistakes. She then said like Digger who was a drunk and a loser but he played his cards till the end.

Pam ended by saying "I know you're a better man than he was".
Although Pam sounded harsh, she was trying to explain to Cliff what he did actually have in his life. She wanted him to get better but her choice of words could come across as cruel.

I do wonder what would've happened if someone had that same approach towards Pam when she was feeling so low in the Sanitarium after her near suicide attempt.

Pam could be harsh at times and lack tact, as we’ve mentioned on other threads recently, but I think her heart was always in the right place. I didn’t like that she called Digger a loser though. I felt that was going a little too far but again her intentions were good. Cliff at times needed someone to be tough with him and show him reality and being the closest person to him Pam knew what she could get away with and how to motivate him.

Two more scenes that annoy me:

During the dream season, when Miss Ellie confronts Sue Ellen about her drinking, Ellie makes it all about JR. She tells SE to get herself together if she can, but if she can't Ellie won't allow SE to bring JR down. Ellie seems to have forgotten that JR played a HUGE role in the reasons why SE was a drunk in the first place. SE needed to be confronted, but Ellie should have want her to get help for her own well being, not for JR's.

In season 11 (DVD) the family is having breakfast and Bobby announces that Kathryn had been to the hospital to see Pam. Everyone was outraged, but someone JR turned the whole argument away from what should be done about Kathryn and to the fact Bobby refused to take the office JR offered him in the new company. I mean come on, seems to me a murderous fugitive running around Pam's hospital room is more important than an empty office.

I thought Ellie’s candid encounter with Sue Ellen was very believable and long overdue.

Ooh la la ce magnifique! Poor Jock was never seen again after that performance,
I’ve always thought it was inexplicable that a 70 year old retired man who enjoyed working on his ranch and insisted on family dinners every evening would head to the wilds of South America at the end of his second honeymoon with zero notice just because a Senator who happened to be his old buddy’s son and the onetime stepson of his newly-discovered illegitimate son/longtime ranch foreman’s wife asked, but now it all makes sense. As big of an international hit as it became, I don’t think even Steal Me Away would have popped up on a radio broadcast at base camp in the jungle in early 1981. It’s plain as day: Jock went to South America to escape Afton’s singing!

Most of the scenes with Ray and Donna. I can't stand them!
I liked Donna and Ray together - they were the underrated stabilizing element of the narrative.
Ray was basically a good man, with some, and not as proficient as his brothers in business
Donna was a strong , intelligent accomplished woman - far more than Miss Ellie or Pam, though Sue Ellen developed over time,
and had more of a moral center IMHO.

You have to see it in the context of Bobby’s death. Gary is lost to her too, but in a different way.

If Ellie was ever going to be protective of JR it was in precisely this scenario. That’s why it was so convincing.

Any scene where Pam refuses to support Bobby in the Ewing Oil contest.
Yes, there can be disagreements, but the solution is to talk about it and work through it,
not to callously disregard something that important to Bobby
And Rebecca's fate was not Bobby' fault.
It was no one's fault, but it would be Cliff, if it was anyone,
as Katherine pointed out - this endless losing battle with the Ewings

Oh and I'm sorry I must add about Winds of vengeance. Poor Sue Ellen on her knees in her swimming costume and no one offers to help her! How could they? Then to just let the kidnappers go

Pam being so late to challenge the kidnappers. If she'd spoken up earlier she could have saved Sue Ellen and everyone else the humiliation of Sue Ellen's rendition of People.
I bet Pam did it on purpose. Bad Pamela!

Karma for the above!
Well to be fair, Sue Ellen was a grown married woman, and Lucy was a teenager who needed more protection from being raped, so Pam stepped in to offer to take her place. I loved the disgusted look that she gave J.R. and Ray for putting them in that situation.

The scene after Sue Ellen was kidnapped by BD Calhoun. She comes back the next morning and everyone assumes she'd been out drinking, while JR was out all night with April.
The headache is a common side effect of some of the drugs used for date rape. Why they didn't tale her to hospital I never could understand.

However much I liked Ray and Donna, Ray became such a loser and so jealous of her. I wanted them to work together but Ray was far too resentful and only wanted his own success.

Their's was never an equal partnership, if it had been Ray and Donna would have provided such a refreshing spin on the usual Ewing marriage.
The sad part was that Ray and Donna had such different interests, so much so that there was really no need for Ray to be so jealous.

I think those differences were there in order to create more drama, more story.
It was plausible that Ray, who lacked Donna's education and accomplishments, would have issues.
