I left this thread with only 1 page dedicated to it. I've come home from work and there are 4 pages to read 
. Just as well the site hasn't crashed otherwise soapchater Matthew Blaisdel would have thrown a hissy fit...of epic proportions

A recast? Most on this site know my thoughts on recasts, never have liked them as it often throws the balance of a series and characters off course. I'd suggest the writers get creative and kill off Alexis in spectacular fashion. That said I do agree with other posters with concerns how far ahead final scripts have been created and the importance of Alexis in those stories. To be honest if they went down the path of killing the character off I wouldn't miss the character at all, only because how little impact she has had on the series.
On the upside this may give Bo (the dog) a higher profile. I could return as a regular viewer if that's the case.

Here's an interesting thought Ked. If they decide to recast the role does the new actress then mimic Nicolette's version of Alexis? I'm of the opinion if the writers continue on the path of writing Alexis as some dim-witted, comic relief character then it won't make too much difference I suppose.

I find a recast unacceptable. So I would definitely prefer they write her out.
And then some day she can return. This might be in 6 months, a year, two years...no-one has to wait for someone to die, just don't recast the role. Bring in Sable instead or whoever. And then some day in the near or distant future, NS can return to the show.
But well...I agree with James. Her ill mother is probably not the full story.

She might also be busy with her new business venture. Both Nicolette and her business partner, entrepreneur Kevin Harrington, posted many photos and videos from their meeting at an airport and in what looks to be his private jet over the past 24 hours.

She says they are working on a great new project and "creating their own dynasty". Harrington was one of the original investors and members of the panel on the popular ABC program "Shark Tank" (which he left in 2011).
