Should Alexis have redecorated the mansion in Season 7?

We had a thread like this before the crash...

Should Alexis have redecorated the mansion at the outset of Season 7 when she took it over? The sets were so bland and lacking in color, and it would be an opportunity to snazz-up the interiors -- such that Blake & Krystle can criticize her gaucherie yet never really change it back once they return to the domicile months later.

they tried it a little bit with the new decoration of the master bedroom .... but it looked cheap
I think a real big change (turning everything in black and gold) - followed by another change when B&K had their mansion back - Spelling would have stopped because of the budget.

Overall I loved the mansion -but it would have had an impact ... maybe just turning the main hall in a gothic art dream ... with a big portrait of Alexis.

They could have used Alexis' furniture from the penthouse to redecorate the conservatory and the dining room. It would have costed nothing.

Because the library was Blake´s favorite room they could build a new room with some of the mansion´s sets and say Alexis did change the room to this ,,,,
so it wouldn´t have been expensive to "change" it back when B&K took over ...

I'll say it again: THE COLBYS' production design was way better than that of DYNASTY.

On the parent series, all the mansion walls were starkly white (except the library), but on THE COLBYS there was a slightly yellow tinge to many of the mansion walls (which photographs better) and little details that gave off a more sumptuous vibe. The set dressing was also better on the spin-off -- much better. (But COLBYS co-producer William Bast contributed to the decor elements -- why didn't they have him freshen up the DYNASTY sets?)

THE COLBYS mansion felt warm and inviting and elegant, while the DYNASTY mansion felt cold and dead (the flat-lighting only hurting).

Well, at least she should have her servants exterminate the plagues in the mansion. Especially in her bedroom (so the legend says...)...

Actually, exactly at the same time "The Colbys" started, the walls of the Carrington mansion were repainted in a light green color. They were white only in seasons 1 to 5. But the green color was actually worst to me.

The yellow color on the walls of the Colby mansion was rather nice I think.

Why did you dislike the light green? It consistent with the exterior windows of Filoli.

That soft petrol-green is actually more sixties, and reminds me of Zach Powers' flat.
White is fine, but when it's all white then it looks "safe" and "indecisive", as only a tastless, lowbrow person with too much money would do.

Gorgeous wood combined with soft-mauve or ice-blue or sea-green is the way to go. Of course it depends on the part of the house e.g. are there going to be curtains or not.

But The Colbys also had Neil Kettridge's flat in fetish-pornish glossy black, which is what Alexis' flat should have been: black & white & red & gold. And fur and bizarre artefacts.
