Should Cliff Had Stuck It To Ewing Oil Over The Tanker Accident?

How does he allow Bobby to talk him out of the revenge he's been after since the show began? I like Bobby, but Cliff should have told him to play his violin someplace else. This was also a case of once again, Bobby saves JR's backside while others are made to suffer.

I think Bobby was a good person, but when it came to saving Ewing Oil or the Ewing name and reputation, he didn't care who he had to step on. In a roundabout way, he was "almost" as bad as JR.

Snarky Oracle!

Miss Ellie admitted the Ewings always circle the wagons "even when we knew we were wrong."

Wasn't Cliff still with Ewing Oil when the tanker disaster happened? I haven't seen Season 13 in ages because I'm usually too busy remaking it inside my head.

Definitely not.

Bobby reminded Cliff that they were bound together because of family and although she'd left the show a few seasons earlier this was a reference to Victoria Principal's Pamela Barnes Ewing (my Step Mother). :)

No. He had already gotten out.

Definitely not.

Which was low on Bobby's part. It was like he was using his own sister to keep him in line. When the roles are reversed, they don't think about anything but saving themselves.

Cliff had every right to stick it to Ewing Oil after all those years, but at this point he still had a conscience and losing Pam was still weighing heavily on him. Bobby knew that and that was the key for him in order to influence Cliff’s decision. Bobby was desperate, and he knew the love they both shared for Pam was what they most had in common. There really wasn’t anything else I can think of that Bobby could’ve said that would’ve changed Cliff’s mind, and I can’t say I blame Bobby one bit. He had a company to rescue.

At least Bobby was able to appeal to Cliff's better nature.

I recall that Mack (Carter McKay) tried to influence Cliff's decision in his favour. I'm glad he didn't get away with it. :)

The tanker storyline was an unexpected (if albeit brief) return to form for Dallas. Even at the time I remember being struck by how it recaptured at least some of the magic of the glory days. Lots of Dallas' best storylines turned around the drama of conflicting loyalties rather than chain gangs, international conspiracies, and doppelgängers. JR's schemes were regularly mined for the often unforeseen conflicts they brought about in the relationships between other family members. Somewhere along the way the writers seemed wilfully to have abandoned this principle. The tanker storyline revisited it one last time.
