Should Rita Lesley have been a singer?

Sometimes I like to manipulate A.I. to get my "I was right all along" satisfaction.

So I asked: is the RITA storyline in Dynasty underrated?
A.I. was having none of it and of course that didn't please me at all.

I rephrased the question with an inbuilt "fact": WHY is Dynasty's RITA such an underrated storyline?

It's not about what you ask, it's how you ask it. A.I. will search the whole internet (!) for opinions that match the tone of the question.
The answer to my second question still wasn't perfect but it was better than the first one. The google page also showed a link to an old tellytalk thread
That night I had a Twin Peaks dream, something about the Black Lodge.

Isn't it oddly rewarding when you find Tellytalk entries rank so highly on Google searches? It's as if.....well....

I read somewhere in which she explained why Sally said that when accepting award. There seemed to be a rational reason, but I can't remember what it waa.

The industry was mad at her for giving the game away: they want to be liked but they also want to seem like they don't care if they're liked.

People have often quoted Cher when she won her Best Actress Oscar two years later, when she said that she'd initially thought Sally's "you like me, you really like me!" speech was "the dumbest thing I'd ever heard". But they leave out what Cher said next, that now that she herself had won the award, she realized Sally's comments were "too honest -- it's just too honest."

That said, I like Sally Field but she can be a whiff too shrill. And the public sometimes dislikes that display of vulnerability. (She got a lot of hate mail after her speech).

It's sad how we all forget at times that the industry is run by actual human beings just like ourselves.

I'm not sure that the Sally Fields are running the industry.

And human beings -- a lot of 'em -- aren't what they're cracked up to be. Rottenness seems to be as natural as goodness, and probably more prevalent.

They won for "miniseries", COLUMBO? Probably because that was never a weekly series -- it was part of the NBC SUNDAY MYSTERY MOVIE thing which rotated four different shows, including McMILLAN & WIFE and McCLOUD. (They could never find a fourth show that worked).
During the last season of the wheel, they did find a successful fourth “spoke” in “Quincy, ME”. It was quickly promoted to weekly series at midseason - probably because the wheel itself was on its last legs - so “Lanigan’s Rabbi” with Art Carney became the final flop in the wheel.
