Sue Ellen’s story arc

it's almost like a low-key version of sweeping the Lucy-Ray thing under the rug... they probably didn't want something so dark sticking to a favorite character.
Yes, which I understand. I’ve just never liked when they do this. Personally I have no problem with a favorite character having something so dark and terrible in their past. It gives the character more depth and that dark secret can always be used against them later on.

(what a stupid way to try to kill someone, too... was Driscoll just hanging out there in the evenings, idling on the shoulder of the Braddock Road waiting for JR's Mercedes to head down the dark driveway so he could somehow time it perfectly and ram into him *just right*? As former OLM heads go, Walt made Cliff Barnes look like a genius!)
Driscoll wasn’t exactly known for his smarts. Quite honestly I don’t understand how he became head of the OLM. You can see J.R. even getting more and more frustrated with him the more they interact. He wasn’t the type of conniver we usually saw J.R. using in one of his schemes.

I think she even says this to Bobby at some point
Sue Ellen said this during her emotional monologue to Bobby in the Sanitarium when she revealed Cliff could be her baby's Father.

I always imagined it was said out of envy and deep sadness rather than meaning it. She told Bobby she loved JR but he didn't love her and she "went out and got herself pregnant" to hurt JR, but only ended up hurting herself and her little baby.
