Seaviewer's Rule: One's tolerance for reboots is in inverse proportion to one's affection for the original.
I did watch the original Edward Woodward Equalizer but I didn't mourn it when it was gone, and I haven't bothered with the Denzel Washington movies.
Meanwhile, the butt-kicking woman formula has become a rather prolific genre in its own right and I like Queen Latifah's intense variation on the theme .
I also like the Batman-Gordon relationship she's building with Detective Dante (I hope they don't go the obvious way and try to make it romantic), and the home life angle is an interesting side story. I suppose her two worlds will inevitably collide eventually.
I don't think she needs the Arrowverse-like support team but the banter between mismatched couple is amusing.
I give it 7/10.

I was too young to have watched the original Equalizer. I liked the Denzel Washington movies and the series with Queen Latifah is good so far.

I understand the success. Queen Latifah delivers an interesting character and I like her voice. She's really cool but the badass part isn't overplayed. And Sunday evening is perfect for it. At the end of every episode the world is a little better.

This show is excellent! I love the fact that you have a woman in her 50s as the lead, a Black woman who isn't a size two at that! It's something you really don't seen on an action show like this and Queen Latifah is excellent. The entire supporting cast is excellent and they take the procedural aspect, but it feels more fresh than what you see on some shows.

My biggest complaint is that I wish they had full seasons of 22 episodes. Either that or I wish CBS scheduled it better. I was so devastated when I watched the last episode and saw it's going on hiatus. Still, despite the odd airing schedule, the ratings have held up. I'm surprised it doesn't get more attention considering how heavily viewed it is.

How does CBS make a decision when it comes to sexual assault allegations? Michael Weatherly is still the star of Bull and Jeremy Piven wasn't fired from his show a few years ago despite serious allegations.

It still bothers me that people are bring ruined on the strength of allegations alone. That said, I don't think it's a huge loss to the show.

i find it a huge loss to the show but he wasn't in every episode anyways i get why he was fired but you are right maybe Michael Weatherly's actions oh i dunno too much about it cause i don't remember it all offhand but i dunno. they said they looked into it maybe they did find nothing i have no idea? i love the show Bull but than i'm a fan of his as well and if he was guilty of course i would have been upset that the show was cancelled but i would have understood it as well

They paid Eliza Dushku $10 million after she got fired for reporting him. They wouldn't have done that if he was innocent. The crazy thing about it is that Weatherly kept his job, but they fired another actor on the show for doing the same thing. I thought that was odd. They clearly had set a precedent that it was okay by keeping Weatherly in his role.

As for Noth, I don't think he was important enough for this to matter so I don't really care. It's pretty obvious he did these recent allegations when you consider there were reports in the early 90s of him doing the same thing, but it was brushed under the rug. Everybody can't be lying on him.

The crazy thing about it is that Weatherly kept his job, but they fired another actor on the show for doing the same thing.

Was that other actor Freddy Rodríguez? I still don't know why he was able to leave Bull after 5 seasons despite his 6-year contract. At least Steven Spielberg showed integrity when he quit as producer of Bull after the Michael Weatherly scandal.

Weatherly is also a producer on Bull. Probably a sweetener by CBS, as he was sick of being in Mark Harmon 's shadow and wanted to headline his own show.

Wisdom of The Crowd would have been cancelled anyway regardless of the Piven allegations, as the ratings were dire to begin with.

I ask because Sarah is a producer on And Just Like That like she was on the original show.

Helps that CBS have some ownership in the Queen Latifah version (through CBS Studios) with NBCUniversal too. So money in it for them.

I don't recall they did with the EW original, as Universal Television\NBCUniversal fully owned it. And it was a falling out with Universal over the renewal of Murder She Wrote (also from Universal) that ended the original series. It had been renewed for a 5th season at first, which caused Keith Szarabajika to pull out of a role on the Lorimar-produced Midnight Caller, only for CBS to change their minds because of the Murder She Wrote spat.

Considering CBS have part ownership in this version of The Equalizer (unlike the original), and considering the Brad Kern\Les Moonves\Michael Weatherly etc dramas, do they need any more bad publicity as it is?

Hence the decision to axe Noth.

to be fair The Michael Weatherly Scandal has died down and the only reason Bull is even ending at all was cause he decided to leave the show and rather than replace him CBS Wisely just said f. it and cancelled it. season 6 the last Season the current one airing isn't that great since we lost Benny i think

With The Equalizer renewed for a third and fourth season, it will reach the same number of seasons as the original.
