When Julia was alive and well after the Spring House fire the story went an old tramp used the location, as a place for residence. Jason Gioberti put the house up and IMHO it was a nice quaint place, not unlike an old Irish cottage. I think it should have been there, to the very end. I'd say there were nice times there for some characters. I could imagine Chao-Li there doing his Tai-Chi and Angela praying. The old place was for the most part a location of peace in the woods and in some cases e.g. for Cole and Melissa there was peace, after much action.
The little house was quite the contrast to the Falcon Crest mansion, the Gioberti castle, the Agretti mansion and all of Richard's places. IMHO it aided in giving FALCON CREST a down to earth feel, in seasons 1 to 3. DALLAS or DYNASTY didn't have such a place, for a prolonged time.
Vicki is walking through the woods, which leads to the spring house. She goes into the old cottage and hears a lot of noise coming from a churn; (a scene from season 1, 1981 - ‘82):
Vicki: “Emma what are you doing here?”
Emma is extremely traumatized, owing to Jason’s death: “This is my special place. Uncle Jason built it for me, when I was a little girl. Uncle Jason said he used to keep places like this; cool and fresh, for buttermilk and apples. He thought it was sad that there weren’t places like this any more.”
Vicki: “Emma does anyone know you’re here.”
Emma: “Don’t come near me. Don’t touch me please!”
Vicki: “Emma your family’s worried about you.”
Emma: “They think I’m crazy.”
Vicki: “They’re concerned that’s all.”
Emma: “You told me they want to send me away. I don’t want to be sent away.”
Vicki: “Emma I didn’t mean that they way it sounded. You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to.”
Emma: “Well I don’t want to go home. I want to stay here. I feel safe here.”
Vicki gets one of the chairs and says: “Ok I’ll stay here with you.”
