Josh Reims and his gang may be onto something here. Placing EH's Alexis in more scenes like this ("OG Alexis's Greatest Hits") can only help the show stress that she's going to look AND behave like the Alexis everyone remembers. In Sallie and her gang's haste to say "This is a new version of the show," she made Cristal/Celia nothing like Krystle, and we saw what a dud that was. She made NS's Alexis nothing like JC's, and we saw how people were similarly not enthused. So if Josh and his gang can score a hit by making Alexis more...Alexis-ish, then the next project ought to be making DA's Cristal more Krystle-ish by placing her in more of the "OG Krystle's Greatest Hits".
It's noteworthy, for instance, that since the recast, nothing has been brought up about the Flores family and their nefarious activities--as if the new showrunner doesn't want that aspect of the character to be mentioned any more*. She's still nothing close to Krystle in terms of moral compass/moral center, but once they make the Cristal/Alexis rivalry clearer (motives of the characters, their goals, etc.) via scenes like the lily pond redux, she might be well on her way to something resembling OG Krystle more than what we've ever had in Celia or C2.
* I always thought the convenient explanation for the murder of Mark Jennings/Cristal's miscarriage was that Cristal's brother Beto killed him, since it would have given an opportunity for a lot of meaty material for Cristal2, and of course let Alexis off the hook. But if they want to dismiss the Flores family as an aspect of the show, they'll have to forget that whole explanation. They conduct themselves as if the murder of Mark Jennings on the Carrington estate just a day or two before Mack was also killed on the estate didn't even happen. A more clever DA would have tried to link the two murders and try to nail Blake for both of the deaths.
