The Way Bobby Treated Jenna

Kenny, I don´t mean really what I write when I talk about certain characters. I suppose you know that. Perhaps I´m not so articulate as the rest of you because English is not my first language and I turn to humor (even black or slightly bad taste humor) to write my posts. Also, please take into account that a soap character is to me just that, a piece of fiction. I don´t use them to talk about my personal opinions about life and relationships. But that is just my way of doing things here.

Above all, I´m being respectful to everybody and every opinion. I see Jenna as the plot device used to separate what I see as the perfect lovers in the Dallas universe, that´s all. That´s why I vilify her (is that a word, right?). Poor Katherine, on the other side, was a sick person who deserved my compassion. You see, my dumb points of view? By the way, happy holidays from moi and Da Pig!!
You make some good points. I think that Morgan Fairchild (Jenna #1) gave the best overall character portrayal.

I never saw the point in Jenna I didn't believe for a second that Bobby could ever love her while Pam was around. I Could see Pam and Mark working far better as he was more than a match for Bobby and he removed Pam from living in a toxic house with JR and the Barnes Ewing politics. Mark was wealthy and in comparison to Bobby alot less complex to live with Jenna hung around too long and served less of a purpose with every passing season. Mark didn't stay around long enough in fact it almost feels like he didn't exist at all.

The writers did one thing pretty well as regards to Bobby, Jenna, and Pam. When Bobby dies, we don't know if he is looking at Pam or if he is looking at Jenna when he says, "All that wasted time. We should have been married."

They did a nice job of making us speculate on whether he was talking to Pam or Jenna.

I actually never doubted for a second that his comments were meant for Pam. I thought it was clear considering he had proposed to her the previous evening. I took it as the comments were clear to us who he meant but Jenna thought the comments were for her.

Did I rationalize that wrong? Oh, maybe I was dreaming too.

That line was directed at Pam not Jenna Wade. :)

Of course that comment was directed at Pam - he had proposed to her just 15 minutes before, and during that proposal he explained how Jenna shouldn’t be married to a man who didn’t love her. But it was done so Jenna could misunderstand who he was talking to; not the viewers.

I agree that the line is directed at Pam,, it's pretty clear to the audience, but there's just enough ambiguity to allow Jenna to think it's directed at her.
It´s all because of Da Presley´s pompous *ss, just like when she changed her name and put in Beaulieu so she could head the opening titles (but it didn´t work out: BBG took the shotgun out of the closet!).

She was so wrong for the part!!! It's so funny...I still remember my mother telling me the only reason she got the job was because of her last name.

It was stunt casting. Pure and simple!

She actually wasn't a bad actress, but she wasn't great either! Her facial expressions to emote feeling's were virtually non-existent! :)
