The WORST casting choice in Dallas history

I didn’t like it. I felt what they should’ve done with him as he got older was make him darker; more hostile and even bitter. It was still the most important character and watching him descend was difficult for me.

I'll never understand why they thought mellowing the character of JR and making him more comedic would make the viewers keep watching.

It had the opposite effect. He should've been more bitter. He had flashs of that like when Miss Ellie gave half of Southfork to Clayton.

He should've been more conniving and manipulative. Darker was the right way to go but Katzman turned JR into a bumbling buffoon who constantly lost! :(

There's also Cynthia Cidre she was really miscast and inept as Executive Producer and head writer of the TNT Dallas! And that's me being kind. If I printed how I really feel about her I'd be banned from the site. :)

Although a lot of folk can mellow as they get older, it just wasn't right for JR. I understand he may of wanted to redeem himself with some areas of his life, but JR was too bad to be mellow.

For a start he would've resented growing older and that would've contributed to his bitterness. He just should've stayed mean. He could've become more difficult, but not totally lose who he was.
The comedic, loser version was just not our JR.
