Thoughts on the Lisa Alden storyline

Jumping around in season 11 at the moment I realise how much they botched the casting of these characters; Lisa Alden isn't even the worst. But Laurel Ellis? Wooden, to say the least. Casey Denault - I swear every time I see him, I'm like "who is this???"; the only thing I slightly ever vaguely remember is that at first sight I thought Dack Rambo was back (and looking rough). Kay Lloyd... again, forgettable. I actually like Leigh Taylor-Young, but she was so miscast here - mostly because she has too much of a likeable energy to be believable as Kimberly Cryder.

Too bad that Lesley-Anne Down couldn't be convinced to join Dallas in season 11 already. She could have been the perfect Kimberly Cryder and she had some international star power thanks to North & South. While Leigh Taylor-Young is my favorite season 11 newcomer, at the time Dallas needed someone who gained interest in those who were drifting off and Lesley-Anne Down might have been the one, especially if tabloids would have promoted her as Victoria Principal's replacement.

Lisa Alden could have been the most hated character of that season. But then came in Miss Bonsai and her gang of annoying characters... No wonder the actress seems to be retired upon her Facebook page...and has become a writer and producer...and a partygoer...!

Yeah the reprehensible artists and the ex boyfriend who also has a part in destroying Falcon Crest are beyond awful. I don’t know who I hate more. Ray and Jenna are rocketing to the top of the list though.

I wasn't a fan of Amy Stock as Lisa Alden, with hindsight I think she was too young for the part. They should've went with an older actor.

I also didn't like that JR was behind it. He sunk to a new low with trying to take Christopher away from Bobby. Bobby should've drowned the b*stard in the pool. :)

I agree and realistically, there's no way in hell Bobby could live under the same roof as JR after that.

Lisa Alden was unnecessary. If JR wanted to put the screws to Bobby using Christopher, he should have just picked up the phone and called his ex mother-in-law and told her Christopher was Kristin's son. Patricia would have steamrolled back into Dallas to get back on that Ewing gravy train. Plus, it would have brought Sue Ellen right into the middle of the fray.

And I want JR to find out, early in the season, that Pam had crashed into a tanker doing illegal business for JR in the Texas badlands (something forbidden due to his censure by the feds at the end of the previous year). This leads JR to run around throughout the middle of the season trying to keep Bobby from finding out -- and then once Bobby does find out, he has to run around throughout the last third of the season trying to help JR keep those feds from finding out so the Ewing family and businesses won't be destroyed once and for all.

It's like B D Calhoun all over again -- just months after Bobby swore he'd never allow himself to be placed in that situation again!

Between all that, and JR's schemes to take Christopher away, surely that's worth at least two dunkings in the Southfork pool.

I always imagined that tanker had some connection to Pam's crash and that Bobby would find out.

Another example of a great storyline we COULD have got instead of the crap we did.

The producers were in denial of Victoria´s statement that she was gone for good, hardly they knew that, 35something years later, she´d be laughing out loudly at them in her Malibu home...

"Yes dearie, then I said to those pompous producers,
"I´m leaving this lousy show asap, and Pam will have to diiiiiiiiieeeeee!"

It would have been more spectacular if the truck were carrying bottles of gas butane...and all bottles started falling over poor Pammy! Are they empty or not? Will Pam get just some bruises on her head?

And then, after the accident, Katherine shows her face through the truck driver´s window:

Jack Scalia's mafia prince story did receive too much screen time this season -- probably the result of no spring hiatus planning time on the part of the writers.

His post-coital moment with Sue Ellen, it should be said, was excruciating.

How did he expect to strong arm him to helping him, by having him lose his son though?
J.R. said at one point that Bobby wasn’t meant to lose Christopher. He just wanted to scare him into cooperating with him. It wasn’t supposed to go to a custody hearing but then Lisa returned with a vengeance after they thought she was gone out of their lives for good.

Either way J.R. should’ve known blackmail wouldn’t work where Bobby was concerned. J.R. had tried similar stunts with Bobby years earlier when he thought he was Christopher’s real daddy and that also backfired.
