He had that house on the market at one time (might still be), so I would not be surprised if he leased it out as a location. It's actually quite convenient since the show will undoubtedly film it in its best possible light, helping spark interest in its sale.

I wonder when Alexis will enter and who will play her.

I'm going to throw the cat among the pigeons here and suggest that we might never see Alexis or if we do see her, it'll likely be in a diminished role. The CW don't make glamour soaps about older folks. They're usually recurring background characters and those who did make it into the main cast of 90210 (Rob Estes, Jessica Walter & Lori Loughlin) were very quickly phased out. If Alexis does turn up, I'd be surprised if she ends up taking centre stage like Alexis did in the original. Like when Heather Locklear showed up in the Melrose reboot or Joan Collins showed up in Pacific Palisades, I was like "why is that lady hanging around with all of these young kids?". They just seemed out of place with the tone of the show.

If they were to cast Alexis and go the British route like they did in the original, I'd like to see Polly Walker, who played bitchy Atia so well in HBO's Rome or Jaime Murray.

They don't need Alexis. They have bitchy Cristal. WTF? How does that even make sense.
I just always had a feeling that there wouldn't be an Alexis. It's like some karmic revenge from Esther who resented that Joan's Alexis ran away with the show.

Well that's how it goes in my head.

If the show starts tanking, they may fall back on old habits and hire Heather Locklear to play Alexis in a "Special Guest Star" capacity.

It'd be a good tie in given the Melrose Place connection between herself and Grant Show plus it'd be nice to see Heather in something else rather than slumming it in that Tyler Perry crap she's currently appearing in. Also, the CW have done that type of stunt casting before when they brought Teri Hatcher and Dean Cain into Smallville and Supergirl.

Locklear as Alexis would be awesome! And the irony! Can you imagine Joan Collins' face the moment she finds out? :D

You may be right--it sure looks like she is not needed. Then again, maybe she will be mentioned as dead and then come back from the grave when ratings start tanking (so, episode #2). I am going to write to them to suggest they call her Madeleine.

Bad for ratings! I give it less than 22 episodes! It's gonna be up against everything!

So how many episodes do shows on the CW normally have for a season, 22?

Producers and Networks have developed much more flexibility in terms of ordering episodes of a series. Twenty-two is still considered the typical number, but producers don't always push for as many episodes as possible like the old days. Producers have finally realized that sometimes less is more--that a well-written, well-financed run of thirteen episodes might be more watchable than a stretched-out/padded out twenty-two episodes.

Cancelling a soap is always sloppy, because so many plotlines are set up to unfold over an entire season or more. If you suddenly drop the hammer, plots are left hanging, or wrapped up quickly (and usually quite badly). It would be in this show's best interest to design a 22-episode "Bible" (story outline) but also develop several chances for revisions at the tenth or eleventh episode in case the network cuts their episode request from 22 down to 13. Cutting a season down like that is a de facto cancellation without actually using the word. At any rate, it would give them a "Plan B" already in place to wrap it up in a better way than if they just leave everything hanging.

Well, Riverdale got 13 episodes for its 1st season, then it got 22 for its 2nd season. I'm hoping that Dynasty will get 13 for its first season as well.

And IIRC, original-recipe ABC Dynasty had a 13-episode first go in 1981 (if you count the "Oil" pilot as a 3-hr. block; that pilot was an ABC Movie Special, IINM).

Knots Landing also had a 13-episode first season. However, it didn't premiere until late December. If ReDynasty premieres in September/October, it might be problematic. A 13 episode season would end theoretically in January or February. That would give the network several months of....nothing. The momentum (if there is any) would be lost by the time a second season aired, unless they hurry something onto the air in the following summer.

I just have that feeling that Dynasty will get the Melrose Place treatment!

Oh--we got 13 but we're like 2 million in views and then they get just a few more "additional" episodes to make 18 or something and then they get cancelled!

If they get a full season order that's a good sign! But if they start pulling the "Dynasty will end season 1 at 13 episodes" or "16- 18- 20" then that's bad if all they get is a small extra few episodes that are less than 22!

For the most part it's bad when that happens-- when ratings are low but the network gives "additional" episodes!

Titans they had like 9 episodes and got an additional 4 or something added on for the season back in 2000-2001! They cancelled the show in episode 11 and the last 2 never even aired!

North Shore on FOX had 13 episodes and then got a total of 8 more to mak 21 episodes and then FOX cut the order back to 20 even after the 21st one was filmed and the show was cancelled!

Melrose Place on CW-- 13 and then after bad ratings got 5 more eps! Still that's not the regular 9 to make 22! If they made it to 22 or more that's a very good sign they will get renewed!
