It just seems like they are making the mistakes that all the recent soaps have made. Burning through too many stunts and too much plot much, much too quickly. Really pushing someone in an open grave is a big deal. If it's happening here for quick comedic effect it's making a massive statement about this show and how it is going to address storylines.
I did not by any means hate the pilot, I thought it was serviceable but if this is how they are going to go so soon I'm not sure about the future. Even ridiculously camp shows like Footballers Wives wouldn't do something that stunty.

Isn't this a sign of the times though?

Far too many shows get cancelled because the viewer has no patience and I imagine this has some impact on writers, producers, showrunners etc..

Not that I'm saying it's a good thing, but a plausible reason as to why they do what they do.

Cat fight in episode 1, pushed in an open grave in episode 2..... Moldavian Massacre in episode 3... Abducted by aliens episode 5. The End.

But it's not new... It's tired and people get bored of seeing all this stunt-ery without consequence. If the grave scene is for comedic value and that's all then we're are not watching Dynasty.
Not new....

Plus I believe @Snarky's Ghost should be paid royalties yet again as he envisioned the falling into an open grave scenario for a Dynasty redo. Only with Alexis and Krystle in Blake's open grave. Much like the bit in Absolutely Fabulous.

Well, we can all think like that because somewhere, someone has done something that's already been done.

We can't do rape - it's been done
We can't do murder - it's been done
We can't do catfights - it's been done

and so on.


It's not always about the actual story, but how you tell it or how the viewer perceives it.

Just because Dallas did "Who Shot JR?" doesn't mean it has to be the best, it can be done ten times over and still be enjoyed.

It's not even about the actual stunt. It's more that it is a stunt. It's just too soon in a show to be doing something so ridiculous. Where do you even go from there? Is this a comedy? What am I watching? How does Fallon feel about being pushed in an open grave? What does she do about it? Any person would take serious offense at that. I bet once it's done that's that, nothing comes of it. It's pointless outrageousness. It serves no purpose.

Episode 5 title has been released as "Company Slut."

Synopsis of episode 5:
Fallon plays a game of cat and mouse with Cristal , as the two vie for the cover of a prestigious magazine. Steven's ex-boyfriend returns to town, upending Steven's life in many ways. Sammy Jo and Anders discover an unlikely connection.

I know some people are going to wonder if that is Ted Dinard returning, but isn't obviously the real mystery how Sammy Jo and Joseph connect? I'm gonna guess Sam is stealing his condoms.
