Top Of The DALLAS!

Count Jockula

Telly Talk TV Fanatic
Some fine scenes, with background music playing to add to the very moving script: Jock's return/no return, J.R. talking to Jock's portrait and Ellie refusing to believe Jock is either above or below. They're all equally good, imho. Which of these scenes do you think was the best combination of setting, script and sound? Have a look.

J.R. is waiting out the back of Southfork for his mama Ellie, after her night out. Jock's imposter Wes romanced her around DALLAS; in a horse and carriage, (a scene from season 9; DVD-10, 1986 - '87):

Ellie appears in the foyer. Her temper is up and J.R. is not helping matters.

Ellie: "I don't believe you were waiting out back for me, to get home."

J.R.: "I'm not going to have you making a fool of yourself."

Ellie goes up the stairs: "How dare you!"

J.R.: "Mama you're going too far."

Ellie is cross with him: "I've told you to stop interfering in my life!"

J.R.: "I cannot believe that my own mother would be seen in public with that man. Dating him for god's sake and in a horse and buggy."

Ellie: "How do you know?"

J.R.: "I'm I wrong?"

Ellie: "You're having me followed? Have you no respect for anyone's privacy?"

She bangs her fist, on the staircase handrail.

J.R. barks: "I'm not having you followed. I'm having him followed because I want to know what that charlatan is up to. Do you have any idea how you are hurting this family?"

Ellie walks up the stairs, looks down and strips her teeth at her eldest: "Don't you talk to me like that J.R.!"

J.R. is now like the devil: "That man is tearing this family apart and you're helping him, to do it. Bobby and I were serious the other day. There is a time coming, when you have to choose between him and the rest of us."

J.R. walks off to the back. He leaves Ellie pondering, about what he said.
