The Whitehouse currently looks like it might have done on 9/11, if those brave passengers hadn't overcome the hijackers (no offence intended)

Although it was probably shot down by us over the fields of Pennsylvania.

This is his contributon to history. Shameful...

Shameful (or shamful) is his brand. Do what you're good at.

This is the size of the proposed ballroom.....

I'd be so appalled if I was an American. (Perhaps he will model it on 'The Gold Room' in Kubrick's The Shining....)

Trump hasn't just bombed Iran. Look much closer to home to see the damage his mania is causing:

It's shameful and gaudy, yes, but at least it only symbolically represents 9/11 (meaning nobody actually died here).

Trump is a disgrace, but this was destined to happen with or without him. Ever since the Bush Administration and the war on terror, it's been open season on the Constitution. Presidential power was expanded during that time, and Congressional checks and balances have basically been eliminated. The leftists who recognized what a disaster that was were called terrorist sympathizers by the conservatives, and now our worst fears have come true. Trump is essentially free to do whatever he wants unchecked. That includes starting a war, tearing down a historic part of the White House, throwing his name on the Kennedy Center, and so on. Sometimes, the courts will intervene like they did with the Kennedy Center and now the construction of the ballroom, but it's always after the fact. That said, Trump is still just the symptom of a far bigger systemic problem.

I would actually argue that Trump is the symptom of a disease that's been spreading in the US since AT LEAST the 60s.

Changing culture and expanding opportunities scared the ruling class, and they reacted by electing stronger and stronger authoritarian figures who played into their fears and promised to restore them to power. Sadly, the people in the US who vote and vote consistently are more than willing to give up their freedom for the allusion of remaining in control.

Yes, the root of the problem goes back decades.

FDR arguably did the most good as president in my opinion, and even he put the Japanese in internment camps.

Fear is something our leaders sadly exploit, and it's gotten worse as the authoritarian inclinations of the people who aspire to these positions have increased over time.

Marjorie Taylor Green is claiming that the Trump administration is having serious discussions about using nuclear weapons against Iran. Trump denied it.

They're both liars, so who really knows the truth.
