Trump takes Miss Ellie’s name in vain

I don't recall politics ever being officially off-limits on the forum so long as it was relevant to DALLAS. For example, there have been threads whenever cast members have spoken out about their own political leanings. I can't remember the details of any of them, but opinions were doubtless expressed and moderators moderated and everyone survived without anyone having to be "protected" from anything. I guess this is the first time present-day politics and DALLAS have overlapped in a while, hence the thread. And that's all it is: a Trump/DALLAS overlap. Personally, I thought the main point of interest is in the second tweet, about Miss Ellie's past, rather than in the first one about Trump just saying stuff.

Good grief. Can you imagine the blow-back from Barbara Bel Geddes fans if Trump had used her name instead of Donna Reed's? I can just see the internet flooded with memes of Miss Ellie (Barbara Bel) asking Ray to get the shotgun :coffeelaugh:

Ray, get the shot gun, that man Trump has just insulted my first regeneration!

Well, if y'all think it's ok to approve the assassination of the President of the United States, please delete my profile now. I want nothing to do with this.

Oh... If only Trump was in Dallas.
In 1963.
November 22 at 12.30pm to be specific, and ridding through Dealey Plaza in an open top limo.
I don’t like Trump, but I think it’s bizarre and sick to wish that any human being is shot in the head.

I don’t like Trump either and I certainly didn’t vote for him but maybe we could leave Trump out of our discussions of beautiful and glorious and wonderful nighttime soaps ?
The problem is he doesn't leave us out because he said something that urges us to defend Dallas' Miss Robot Donna Reed.

How about we just leave politics out of the Dallas forum?
I don't read or write in threads where I don't want to discuss the topic. And I don't send notes that a topic I don't like is inappropriate because it's not to me to decide what's appropriate for others. Is it that difficult to ignore?

Agree with KC. It's also why I stopped watching NFL.
You don't want to discuss politics here but it didn't stop you to address a political view (or hint) - about the NFL - here. So it's okay if you do it but not okay for others.

Well, if y'all think it's ok to approve the assassination of the President of the United States (...).
No. The man in the White House calls it "sarcasm".

“I feel these political discussions are........tearing this website APAAAAAAAAART.”
-paraphrasing Miss Ellie

...And they are getting the fandom concept "defooooooooooooormed" (to quote the only and only Miss Ellie too!)

If Boris mentions tomorrow that he did The Body Principal workout while recuperating then I dare say someone might find that of interest enough to post. But let's cross that bridge when we come to it.

I think that this thread is relevant in the Dallas forum and in the past there has been long and lengthy dicussion about other Dallas stars and their political views prior to the crash of Sept 2016! And sadly they cant be viewed again. And maybe some people werent around the forum then but they happened and it was relevant to have them in the Dallas forum

Discussion on Larry and his political comments and views

Susan Howard and her strong views on the NRA and guns

If BoJo had posted a tweet about Joannie Collins - why shouldnt that be posted in the Dynasty Forum? If i saw it i would post it there not a Politics forum

I never read this thread at the start because A - I dont like Trump B _ I couldnt stand Dreary Robot Reed - a double dislike whammy! Its the same with any thread, if it doesnt appeal, dont read it. There are threads in the Dallas forum that I think should be in Games forum but thats just my opinion, i am one of many and others may think differently about it. Thats just life and having a different opinion is OK.

But it does have a place here and lets not get things out of proportion, the forum hasnt been taken over by political anarchists, its ONE thread! Its really shouldnt be an issue when the world has a much bigger dilemma facing it right now.

I thought Boris was a sexy name, but this is even better.

I think first names and nicknames help to infantilise him. They suggest he's doddery and harmless, which is the shtick he traded on to begin with.

Not all Bill. Only one person suggested a scenario not of your liking. The problem with posts here on soapchat is some of us read them differently. While I could see the wry sense of humor others may take offence. That's the nature of reading text o_O

@Rove, Bill is gone so he won't see that. Nobody seems to notice that. I think it's a damn shame. Bill was always an asset to the forum but for some reason nobody has said anything about him leaving and why he left. They just pretend it didn't happen.

Where's the "humor" in someone getting shot in the head?

"Do you know what happens when people get shot? They don't struggle for air and say something witty and dramatic as they die. They just fall on the ground, s**t their pants and have their brains come out of the back of their f*****g head" - Henry Rollins
