Bumping this, the Destiny's Child collaboration (a cover of She's Gone by Hall and Oates) came about as both Matthew and Destiny's Child were signed to Columbia Records/Sony.
Matthew's debut single, The Heart's Lone Desire, had made No. 13 - respectable, but not the result Columbia/Sony wanted given he had been in Britain's then No. 1 rated TV programme. Hence the whole Destiny's Child thing to give him a bigger hit.
At least he got a 2nd single - when Sid Owen released a cover of Good Thing Going, it got to No. 14. It didn't impress his Warner record label given the EastEnders exposure (and the Sugar Minott 1981 version making Top 10), and he got no further follow up.
