There are some storylines I prefer in primetime rather than in daytime, and cancer stories are one of them. In daytime, they usually start strong, but then become tiresome and ultimately annoying because you hear every family member or friend talking at length about how they feel and how the sick person must be feeling, and so on. The exact same thing is happening right now with Anita's cancer diagnosis, but I still think everything is handled well; every conversation (even if it's often the same one with different people) is spot on.
The Duprees' greatest strength is their unity and the fact that there's no black sheep in the family. I think it's very clever that all the villains in the show have no direct connection to the Duprees, but only to their (former) in-laws or best friends. This makes the Duprees seem genuinely smart.
As for the show's three biggest villains, I hope Leslie stays. When it comes to Hayley I think the moment we learned she intends to kill Bill sealed her fate and not his. I hope Joey doesn't become the Sonny Corinthos of BTG. When Vanessa finds out Joey killed Doug, I hope she or her son kills him, rather than him staying with the show forever as the mobster anyone is afraid of.
What I definitely don't need in the future are flashbacks to when Dani and Bill were a young couple who just chatted insanely. I could also do without the Duprees constantly praising characters from Y&R and B&B. When Anita was going on about how unique Fenmore's is or how great Devon's influence in the music business is, I wondered how long this gushing praise for the other two CBS soaps would go on. The Duprees certainly seem to have more prestige and class than the Newmans and the Forresters, but are they just as interesting?
