The Bold and the Beautiful Watching The Bold and the Beautiful

B&B began taping new episodes yesterday. No news yet on when they begin airing, but probably in 3-4 weeks.

Safety protocols set with actors being sent to their dressing rooms when they're not taping a scene they're in and are forced to wear masks when not taping. Scripts have also been slightly rewritten to actors won't be too close.

I would be curious to see how they can film the actors so they aren't as close. Unless they are going to rewrite some scenes as phone conversations. I haven't watched in a while but I know Y&R reduced the size of some of their sets several years ago. They basically crammed all the furniture in Katherine's living room into a more cramped set, and had actors awkwardly speaking to each other turned backwards in the armchairs

Line of the Year!

I'm picturing a lot of two-person scenes with them seated on opposite ends of a sofa, or one seated in a chair with the other behind a bar or a piece of furniture. And yes, a lot of phone conversations...mostly because those can be filmed days apart and edited later. A lot less "conflict" scenes, since you can't have actors getting up in each others' faces to yell and threaten. And a lot of flashbacks. Uggh, tons of flashbacks.

Talk about Michelle Stafford being unemployed for months and months, if not years, if this was Y&R in 2009

I'm more worried that Brooke Logan might be forced to go without for more than a week or two. Endless, uncomfortable scenes of her humping the leg of the baby grand piano in the Forrester living room, until finally she'd be daytime's first case of spontaneous combustion.

"Steffy, do you realize it's been March since I enjoyed the company of a man"
" I know, Brooke, all the pictures on the wall are hanging straight!"

Steffy is FINALLY getting a new love interest, Bradley Bell said. A NEW ACTOR has been cast, but who is yet to be revealed.

He's probably read the massive fan-complaints about Steffy lacking a story & man.

Hey guys. I'm looking to get back into watching a US soap and B&B seems to be the most accessible given it's shorter running time. I'm wondering at what point in the last few years would you recommend to start at? As in when was a good storyline/s kicking off or character/s entering the fray? I've dipped in and out of the show previously and found it rather slow and boring during my last time watching it (mid-00's) but at 20 minutes an episode, it's less of a commitment than some of the others.

So, I've gotten stuck in at the beginning of "season 30" which starts with the September 2016 episodes where Quinn and Eric get married. And I must say, I'm kind of hooked. As I mentioned before, it's been a long time since I've watched B&B regularly and when I returned, the first two episodes didn't fill me with hope that much had changed. It was basically two whole episodes of Steffy and Ridge telling RJ that "it's complicated" without explaining why while Quinn & Eric sat on the same couch for the same two episodes telling each other how much they loved each other. I thought the same snails pace that had put me off in the past still remained. Alas, this has not been the case. The fluctuations in speed have been wild. After two episodes of feck all happening, things picked up at a rapid pace with weddings, collapses and battles over power of attorney happening in quick succession.

Maybe I'm a bit out of the loop about how US soaps run these days but my main takeaway has been that the pace is a bit disjointed. You get a few days of the same scene followed by what feels like a week worth of action happening in two episodes. RJ and Bill, who both featured heavily in the first two episodes, haven't been seen or mentioned for three weeks now. Someone showed up with a baby last week (Hope I think) and there was a bit of a deal made of it but she hasn't been seen since either. I'm not even sure if Thorne (who returned for the wedding) is still around while Felicia popped in and out for a handful of scenes. My other takeaway is that Ridge and Steffy are quite annoying. I get that they're fearful of what formerly crazy Quinn will do to Eric but the whole "Quinn is finally out of our lives forever because she didn't sign the marriage cert" thing is ridiculous as Eric will obviously step in and put a stop to this when he wakes up. Anyway, I'm enjoying the ride so far.

Well put!

I've also dug back into B&B this year having watched in the late 90s/early 00s, mainly because I have plenty of time but also because of the official channel putting so many episodes on YouTube. The ff button remains my friend though, I started with mid-2005 episodes in March and am now in mid-2015 so just a little bit behind you...

Quinn as a character was definitely a much needed shot in the arm even if she doesn't appeal to me in the same way that Sheila did back in the day.

I am liking the Hope/Thomas potential. If the writers could only realize that Liam isn't all that. Why both Hope and Steffy want him so bad is beyond me when there is Thomas and Finn.

Steffy is my favourite (since Stephanie died) but it is so annoying that she still pines for Liam. That portrait of her and Liam needs to be destroyed!

However, I do hope that Steffy will end up pregnant since the actress is pregnant. I don't feel like having her covered by big purses, plants and scetches. Plus, they need more Forrester babies for future storylines.

Thomas & Hope could have a baby as well. :)

When I came across the official channel, I was amazed to see how many episodes had been uploaded. I did consider starting further back but I wanted to watch something relatively current and based on what I've watched so far, I think I chose a decent starting point.

Regarding Quinn, I'm obviously only coming to the character after she's already been on the show a few years, but I do agree she's a welcome presence as she truly is an outsider. The last time I watched regularly (mid-00's) the show felt very claustrophobic as it seemed to be the same musical chairs of relationships between characters from the same families that had been rotating for years. Now, while the relationships still revolve around the Forresters, the show feels much fresher with outside characters like Maya, Quinn and the Spencers on the scene.

I'm currently on my way out of B&B. I only got time to watch either Y&R or B&B. I'm behind both, but with Y&R it's just a few episodes, but with B&B it's weeks now. Whenever I watch another episode of B&B it feels like waste of time.

@DallasFanForever, I love Steffy and Finn as couple because they are new and fresh. I am so upset that the writers are planning to destroy them before they even get started by having Steffy cheat on Finn with her ex husband Liam. I love Hope and Liam as a couple but I am not a huge fan of the Hope mannequin storyline at all and do the think the mannequin is a little creepy even though Scott Clifton, Matthew Atkinson and Annika Noelle who play Liam, Thomas, and Hope are doing an outstanding job with this very intense storyline about mental illness.

@Mrs Bobby James Ewing I have to agree with everything you said about this show right now. I think Steffy and Finn make a great couple and I do not want to see them separated. And I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one who finds the mannequin storyline a little bit creepy LOL!! But I do agree that the actors involved are doing a very nice job with this storyline regardless

Yesterday, I saw a clip on Instagram of Taylor and Morgan's balcony argument scene from 2000 and it got me wondering what happened with Sarah Buxton's 2005 return to the show? Do any old school B&B fans remember why she left so abruptly? Wikipedia states "After returning to The Bold and the Beautiful in March 2005 and signing a year-long contract, Buxton's run ended abruptly after just one month". I am a fan of Sarah Buxton's from her Sunset Beach days and wish she'd appeared in more TV after her initial B&B stint in 2000-01 but she has done very little.
