The reason for its cancellation was quite bizarre: the actor who played the victim in the first episode died a few days after that episode was broadcast. The news programme Het Journaal informed the Dutch public of the actor's passing and they showed parts of his last performance in...Moordspel.
This caused the audience to think that he had actually died from the snake bite (the murder weapon), which damaged the image of the show and its producer.
Oh my. That's quite the urban legend.
The intro was what I would call James Bond on acid
That's a perfect description. And it has its own dance routine?!
Was it the same every week, I wonder. Or did each routine contain a vital clue about the murder.
I'm also intrigued by the British version.
Is it the same as Cluedo?
Similar, I think, in that both have an enactment of a crime and then all the participants are questioned by a panel who have to guess. I think in both cases the person whodunnit was allowed to lie.
The big difference, I think, is that the setting, characters and types of crime varied in each episode of
Whodunnit? whereas
Cluedo was always confined to the same half a dozen rooms and suspects. Though of course with
Cluedo, the panel also had to deduce the room and murder weapon.
I think I'm going to crack open the
Whodunnit? DVD this weekend so I'll know more about it very soon.
