I completely agree. Even Agatha Christie expressed a wish for Joan to play Miss Marple at some point, though of course she never lived to see it happen.

I saw a couple of McEwan episodes but couldn't get past them re-writing some of the plots and ruining them in the process.

It tried to be a Dutch "Dallas", like Herenstraat 10, De Fabriek and Diamant. Oh, and Spijkerhoek too
WESTENWIND is the best, and also the only Dutch soap I would recommend to foreigners.

Westenwind is indeed the best Dutch drama series that i also would recommend to others @Willie Oleson, but i do like Spijkerhoek too but Westenwind is the best tv drama series i've seen on tv.

The picture and sound of the DVD that was released Christmas 2009 is truly horrible. And the show itself feels really cheap with some terrible acting, but it is so much nostalgia in it that I can't help to enjoy it anyway.

Oh that's a shame. It's always disappointing when no effort is put into cleaning them up a bit or at least making them watchable.

I think I'd feel the same way about it. Unfortunately the DVD is very expensive indeed now - far more than I'd be willing to pay for it - so I imagine it's been out of print for a while. You did well to get a copy when you did, Bob.
