Who Could Have Been New Villain After Wendell

While I liked the character of McKay, I know I am in the minority. Is there another character who could have taken over Westar after Wendell to be the new antagonist till the end? Would it be an existing character or an all-new one? I think Michael Sharpe played by Gregory Harrison during the final season of Falcon Crest is very underrated. I think he could have worked on Dallas. Sharpe could have been Wendell's nephew that he leaves all his shares of Westar to after his arrest. The board is impressed with his background and appoint him as new chairman.

young Peter Richards, having switched from psychology to a double major in petroleum engineering and economics while in exile on the east coast from the trumped-up drug charges, joined British Petroleum after graduation and, fueled by his hatred of JR and his love of Sue Ellen, skyrocketed up the ranks. After a few years there, he was lured to Westar to become its youngest president ever.

Back in Texas, wearing cutoff dress shirts for some reason underneath his coat and tie, young Peter sets out to “claim what’s rightfully his”, launching the show back up to the top of the Nielsen ratings.

Good suggestion.

Joseph Campanella was Nicholas' father. He could have been cast in a different role as a new character

I like George Kennedy, but I think Joseph C could have played the same role as well

He might have worked better on Dallas.

Kimberly Cryder. JR destroyed her marriage and caused the death of her father then left her with nothing. After Wendell was arrested, she should have come back with a vengeance to make JR and the Ewings pay. She was tough enough to be a formidable threat and her taking over Ewing Oil would have been much more believable than Michelle or Del La Vega. Plus, it could have led to some serious cat fights between Kimberly and Sue Ellen - something I was disappointed never happened in the show.

I agree, but the fact is that Larry didn´t like that Kimberly helped Sue Ellen ruin him. After a few episodes, she was told she was going to be in 2 seasons. In an interview, Leigh more or less hints that it was Larry who got her axed because a woman could never ruin him...I mean J.R. So the same thing with Angelica Nero in the Dream Season happened in the middle of the new reign of King Katzman...Go figure...

I agree with @Jock Ewing Fan. Joseph Campanella could have played a scary 'takes no goo' character, just as convincing as ole skeletor himself Wendell. The Manhattan thespian portrayed Hutch good in THE COLBYS and his two episode stint in the Texas show as Joseph Lombardi Senior was interesting.

The one and only Mr. Lombardi.

Rose McKay says to Carter that they have a visitor. Who walks in only Jeremy Wendell; (a scene from season 11, DVD-12, 1988-’89):

Carter: “What are you doing here? I thought you wanted to keep our connection quiet.”

Jeremy: “I wouldn’t have come if I wasn’t disappointed in you. I thought you would have this deal closed already.”

Carter: “I’ve had some problems. I’ll handle them!”

Jeremy: “I heard from Hughes you’re not doing everything I asked.”

Carter: “Are you listening to Hughes or to me?”

Jeremy: “I’m here to remind you of our agreement. I want that oil under section 40 of Southfork and whatever you have to do to the Ewings to get it that’s what you do. Do I make myself clear?”

Freeze frame, closing credits and the theme tune.

Another idea is Carter McKay could have been a woman instead with Barbara Carrera making a comeback. Angelica McKay could have been married to Carter, who died earlier off screen like his first wife in actual series. Lou Diamond Phillips, who was also in the Dream season, and J. Lo could have been Tommy and Tracy. Duffy and J. Lo would have been interesting IMO.
