Imho there is one character who just screamed out; for more time on the show, Jacqueline. The Perrault businesswoman was very much part of Falcon Crest's rich history and if she had been in season 3 I think Phillip would have been lured, by her. Of course we also would've seen more much needed scenes with Jacqueline, in the middle of Chase and Richard.

The mama of all mamas. She could even had more husbands than we knew about. More than the amount of time the Pope prays.

The other character I voted for was Li-Ying (Chao-Li's estranged daughter). I liked her pleasant polite nature, in contrast to the personalities of Melissa and Terri. She was also very easy on the eye. I'd have wanted Li-Ying to stay until early season 6, before leaving with Cole on his boat to Oz.

Your time was far too limited Li-Ying.

Jacqueline and Maggie have just returned to the Gioberti castle, after their visit to the winery and seeing Cole working the grape press; (a scene from season 2, 1982 - '83):

Jacqueline: "Cole seems to be doing very well, for himself."

Maggie: "Aha! I'm going to see about dinner 'Jacqueleeeeen'."

Jacqueline: "Oh that winery is an absolute fright. Oh he has his work cut out for him."

Maggie: "I'm going to see if Vicki has started something. She occasionally does that!"

Maggie leaves her mother-in-law standing there, opposite the green front door and goes in the direction of the kitchen.

Jacqueline: "How long have you been doing that?"

Maggie: "Doing what?"

Jacqueline: "Walking away from things you find unacceptable; unpleasant, situations, people?"

Maggie: "I wasn't aware I did that."

Jacqueline: "Hmm and you have misplaced that delightful sense of humor."

Maggie: "Well I wouldn't be surprised. The last few weeks have been a little shy of laughter."

Jacqueline provides more of her wisdom to Maggie: "You know a more balanced view of things would help you with Katherine Demery. You might realise how valuable she is to Cole now."

Maggie: "'Jacqueleeeeen'!"

Jacqueline: "And she is very attractive."

Maggie: "She is also a good deal older than Cole."

Jacqueline: "Oh! Well in France young men look to older women for a seasoning."

Maggie gets annoyed with her dearest mother-in-law: "'Jacqueleeeeen' I'm afraid I have had it with your free flowing continental advice and yes I'm walking away from it!"

Maggie storms off, to the kitchen. Jacqueline looks down into the living room and over to the Falcon Crest coat of arms, above the fireplace.

I missed Jacqueline popping up, once in a while. When she died there was a void, a big void. The void was filled somewhat with her backstory. Jacqueline should not have been shot. She should have been seen dying from her illness and this would've really tested Lana Turner's acting chops, in a soap environment.

And yet Jacqueline's death made her even more powerful...

All the nazi revelations in Season 3, the nazi treasure of Season 4 (although they dropped that ball when an executive at CBS found it offensive)... I want to learn in Season 7 that Jacqueline had buried nuclear waste under the vineyards back in the early-'50s, and that it's now leaching into the chardonnay and causing customers to explode into spontaneous human combustion; Julia and Emma realize they've both developed brain tumors because of the radiation, and undergo surgery -- but Melissa refuses to receive treatment, despite Maggie's encouragement (now that Maggie realizes her own tumor four years ago was caused by the same thing).... Later, if we want to revive Jacqueline (ideally, when Jane Wyman is on sick leave in Season 9), we can discover that Julia's bullet to Jacqueline's abdomen ruptured her tumor, forcing the inoperable site to be operated on, and Jacqueline survived, crediting Julia's marksmanship.
