I hadn't even heard of it until today

It's amazing how many shows are being overlooked these days and sometimes I wonder, how do these productions make a profit?

the lady playing Joshua's waitress hook-up was so familiar I had to check IMDb to figure out what else I knew her from. Leslie Hope is the actress and she was in Slasher, as Judith, so I flashed back to our Slasher chats. Then I noticed that she was also in Tyrant, which I know you were watching too.

You're right, it was her!

I liked this character, her many years of dealing with Middle Eastern politics has made her a cynical and opportunistic person. I guess it's just a way of survival.

She's everywhere! (She's actually been in a million things that I've watched over the years.)

I feel the same about Tess Harper, a very familiar face and yet I always have to look up her name.

Yes and when I saw her pop up in SUITS,. I had to check her IMDb page because I recognised her, she was a big part of the first '24' season

Greenleaf season 2 was excellent soap - it often reminded me of Knots Landing season 4, even the cliffhangers are a bit similar.

It has a peculiar, sensual undertone that doesn't really befit the theme of this story, but if that's the worst part then I'm not complaining.

I'm about half way through the first episode right now. It's giving me an American Crime Story vibe so far. Granted I'm only 30 minutes in, but there's something creepy and unsettling about it.

I've done three episodes and I'm still not sure what exactly it is I'm watching.
It's a story based on true events, yes, but why is told in this particular way? And why the blatant eroticism, and the exploitation of actor Chino Darin in particular?
All the young actors are very beautiful, heck it could be CW Dynasty's "Flores" prequel spin-off.

I think it has a very dual atmosphere: sometimes it feels very intimate but the bizarre imagery and dialogue (long-winded or shlock, or both) creates a distance between me and the characters. And I wonder why they chose to do it this way.

I've just finished the second episode. What a bizarre program. It's part American Crime story and part . . . I don't know, some weird Quinton Tarantino family drama or something. The casual attitude towards holding this guy prisoner is shocking. Are they a family of sociopaths?

I see that there is also a movie on Netflix about the family. What I'd like is a good documentary on the family.

At this point I still don't know exactly how much the mother and daughters know, but they must at least sense that there's something strange going on. And it doesn't seem to affect them at all.

The mom stood right outside the bathroom where the kidnapped guy is, with the door open and casually asked what the guys wanted for food, without so much as commenting on or even looking at the victim. My take on the mom is that she is 10o percent aware and completely unconcerned and emotionally disconnected from it. I'm not sure about the daughters.

That is true and I'd miss seeing him get fondled repeatedly.

Netflix suggested I might like El Barco, either "because you watched Gran Hotel" or "because you like hot shirtless Latino guys." Either way, I'm curious and it's now in my Netflix watch list.

Apparently while they are on a boat trip something happens that wipes out most of the land on earth--but it's supposed to be soapy. "Soapy on a boat with hot shirtless Latino guys and the end of the world"--it might be good.

Well, it almost took me two weeks to finish this series (11 episodes).
No more male hotness after episode 4 or 5, and everything else was just so pointlessly vile and disgusting, as if the crimes weren't bad enough.
11 episodes was way too long for this story, and much of the script (dialogue) was too arty-farty. No real person actually talks like that.
The daughters were complete imbeciles, like people from another planet.
Mother Puccio and son Alejandro were the most watchable characters, imho. And the victims too, those were probably the best performances.

Actress Justina Bustos (Monica) looked gorgeous in every scene.


All in all, an interesting story but there were too many things that bothered me. Rating: 6,5/10

Season 5 of The Americans turns out to be a very mixed bag. All the supporting characters are fantastic as usual, but the lead couple Philip & Elizabeth are getting a little soft and boring. Long and sloooow conversations about the same things over and over again. Not very entertaining.
I miss Martha and Nina.

The last few episodes of The Americans were awesome. Despite the repetitive filler that plagued this season, I still think it's an edgy show for cool people.

I started The House of Flowers on Netflix tonight and did the first four episodes. It has a Desperate Housewives vibe so I wasn't 100 percent sure I'd be into it, but I'm really liking it so far. It gets somewhat absurd at times, but it's made me laugh out loud a few times.

I was worried that the lighthearted tone would be a turn off but so far I'm having fun with it. The soapy, over-the-top telenovela drama is keeping me interested.

I've decided to cancel my netflix subscription because there's currently nothing on it that I want to see.
And if I have to wait a year (or longer) for new episodes of The Affair, AHS and American Crime Story then it's cheaper to buy the DVDs.
I'll go back to netflix as soon as all episodes of CW Dynasty season 2 are available.
