Your Best Series of 2019 list?

I've watched the first 2 episodes but I'm not hooked yet.

Maybe you will later. Maybe you won't.

All the new characters grew up on me, even the annoying one : Forty. I don't like the character, but I understand why he is important in the narrative and plot.
What I really loved about this season, is that it's not a retelling of season 1. I was afraid of that, but it's not this at all.

You're right, that's not what a sequel series is supposed to do. And yet I miss the cosy atmosphere of the bookstore and Los Angeles is a dire place and the characters are boring. I'll try one more episode.

I want to ad You season 2, in my "new season" list.
I loved it even more than the first one.

Have you watched it all already? I just started season 2 episode 1 last night and I'm enjoying it as much as season 1.

That's the point. Joe/Will is not in his element. He's surrounded by superficial people. He's in a place he hates. He's in the last place you think he would ever go. All this has a point, a reason, and the more we discover the episodes, the more Joe (and us) realize that many things are not what they seem. Some of those superficial people have more layers, some have dark secrets, and I can't say more without revealing a major twist in episode 9 (the last before the finale) but for me, it was really worth it.

I'll try one more episode.

Episode 3 is not a good episode to be honest. But they're sitting up things that will be really important later. Episode 4 sets up something important too. And all of this will lead to the twist for episode 9. I'm already telling too much lol. But I guess I want to share my enthusiasm and I'm trying to get you on board.

Have you watched it all already? I just started season 2 episode 1 last night and I'm enjoying it as much as season 1.

Yes, I had a 18 hours trip in a bus, this weekend, so I had to keep me busy when I wasn't sleeping lol
I even started Servant (Apple) and I've watched 2 episodes. And I enjoy it, so far.

I'm so happy you went beyond episode 3. I hope you will enjoy this finale ride, with episode 9 and 10.
Except for the very last seconds (setting up a season 3) the finale was really satisfying for me.

One of the good things this season were that it wasn't a copy of the previous one (that I enjoyed very much). For exemple, at first I thought Delilah was the new Peach Salinger. But no. She wasn't at all. I really disliked her character at first. Then, like Forty, I ended up understanding that she was broken, beyond repair, but she had some nice qualities beyond her annoying feminist tantrums. Many of the characters were shades of grey. Even Candace. No one was absolutely good or bad. Except for the killing parts, which is absolutely insane/evil. Anyway, what a weird bunch of dysfunctional characters we had this season lol

I wished Delilah wasn't killed. Yes, Love killed the aupair too. It makes sense that Love developed this weird relation with her brother, after that. On some levels she's worst than Joe.

Yes. Joe is the "monster in the name of love". Candace is not. She is flawed, she's a cheater, she can be scheming and manipulative, but she is never the monster Joe is.

I've read a number of lists ranking the best series of 2019, from all kinds of entertainment magazines. These are the series that are mentioned most frequently (in no particular order):

Seeing as it won an Emmy I thought it was time I finally checked out what all the fuss is about. I've been binge watching over the last couple of days and I've totally fallen in love with it. It's so original, fresh and honest. It's funny, insightful and occasionally heartbreaking, and the acting is superb. Season 1 was excellent but season 2 is even better. The first episode was so good. I'm half way through season 2 (it's only 6 episodes a season) and I don't want it to end, because apparently there isn't going to be a season 3.

My pick for best series of 2019 is:

Yellowstone. It's the best series I saw in 2019 and the best series I saw in 2018! I think Yellowstone just blows away any of the other new shows I've seen. Kevin Costner does a tremendous job portraying John Dutton, a rancher who is doing everything he can to protect his ranch from a variety of low-lifes who want to take it away from him. John Dutton has two sons and a daughter, as well as a grandson. They had what I thought was leading up to a cliffhanger ending for this season regarding the grandson. I didn't think they were going to let us know what happens to the kid until next season.

There was an episode this past season regarding his daughter which was probably the most graphically violent beating of a woman I've seen on TV or in a movie. They're certainly not afraid to push the limits of good taste on Yellowstone, but I've got to say that scene was remarkably well acted by Kelly Reilly. I liked the way Beth Dutton stayed so tough during the whole ordeal, never giving them the satisfaction of seeing her break down.

Yellowstone is doing so well that they say they're probably going to have quite a few more seasons of it, which is more than originally planned. Season three is renewed for 10 more seasons. That's my only complaint about the show - why do they keep making these tiny little mini-seasons? It used to that all the shows ran from fall to spring and just took the summer off. Yellowstone's a great show but they take too damn much time off!
