Mm, intriguing!
I usually never watch the DVD extras but this time I did, and Margot Martindale got a little emotional which I thought was really sweet, and Keri Russell half-jokingly said that "smart people like us" which I thought was very bold in a funny kind of way.
Ozark, baby, Ozark.
Now it's my turn to be intrigued.
It doesn't matter what kind of story it is, as long as I can fall in love with the characters. It's not like I had expected to like The Affair, I got it from the library because some other title wasn't available at that time and I didn't want to go home empty-handed.

I knew next to nothing about Ozark going in, which made it all the more interesting.

It's not like I had expected to like The Affair

Well, I knew it was McNulty from The Wire cheating on Abby from ER with the wife of Pacey from Dawson's Creek, so I think I'd have been surprised if I didn't like it. It's funny you mention DVD extras - I'm not in the habit of watching them either (unless it's for something old like Dallas or Doctor Who), but I notice that at the end of The Affair's final season, there's an interview with the producer about the whole series, which might be an interesting watch.

That may have been a (subconscious) selling point for me.

I've watched a little of that interview too. She seemed so young and, well to be honest I found it hard to believe that she was (partially) responsible for this great drama.
I know that sounds disrespectful but to me it felt like listening to the producer of NuDynasty. Maybe it was the modern Californian way of expressing herself.

@Canon suggested I re-watch Fire Walk With Me prior to The Return and I'm glad I did.

And Fire Walk With Me seems to get better and better on every re-watch. There's always something new to take from it. I'm sure the same will be true of The Return on repeat views.

The original series maybe not so much.

The Umbrella Academy. I liked season 1, and all my friends tell me season 2 is even better. So 2x01 starting tonight.

Amazon's Alex Rider - surprisingly good. The book franchise had so far a less successful film version, Stormbreaker with Alex Pettyfer in 2005. The series is based on Point Blanc, the second novel of the book series. It's about a teen James Bond who is drawn into spy business for personal reasons. Believable interactions between the students played by decent young British actors (Otto Farrant in the title role), it has some very atmospheric sets and is actually very suspenseful without too much violence. Amazon already ordered a second season. As an adult viewer you honor that the cinematography lingers for moments on beautiful landscapes and the editing wasn't done by a hyperventilating mixer machine. A beneficence for your eyes and brain.

I see The Fall - the grim but gripping Irish thriller series starring a brilliantly ice-cold Gillian Anderson - is now on Netflix. I was totally transfixed by it when it was originally on the BBC and I'm quite tempted to watch it again, even though there are a million other new things to watch. Maybe I'll do what I usually do and add it to My List and then just watch whatever comes up first when I finish what I'm currently watching - in this case, Ozark season 2.

I've been tempted to watch this. Maybe I'll give it a go. I need something new to get into after having finished Ozark.

It's really really good and very dark. I was sort of hypnotised by it.

Netflix desperately wants to sell me LUCIFER.
Apparently, the devil has an evil twin brother now. I don't think it's ever been done before!

I started Lucifer a couple of months ago. I'm up to season three which seems ridiculously long at 26 episodes. I didn't really know anything about the show going into it and was quite surprised by the tone and set up of the show. I was expecting a dark, serious tone for some reason. It's sort of a comedy, police procedural with supernatural elements mixed in. I wouldn't say I'm hooked but I'm enjoying it and Tom Ellis is a lot of fun.

I'm starting the last season of Cable Girls tonight. I'm definitely hooked on that one--a soapy telenovela type show set in the late 1920's. It's very much in the vein of Gran Hotel and it's been fun to see Julio from Gran Hotel again--only he's called Francisco now and he's pining for Alba instead of Alicia.

I don't wish to cause a scandal--but I think I actually prefer Alba to Alicia!

But it's not so cut and dried for Julio/Francisco because there's also Carlos and I honestly can't decide who I want Alba to be with. And that makes for the best kind of love triangle.

Well, if it's good enough for JamesNet then it should be good enough for me.
Maybe I'll give it a go
I'm looking for a watch-buddy. Watching together is fun, we did this with Sons & Daughters and I did Gran Hotel and Slasher with Jason73.

The story being in Ireland, they couldn't find an ugly man to play the nasty serial killer (this is not a spoiler).

I find the Henry Cavill look-alike slightly distracting, but it's not the bad kind of distraction.
