Okay up next is this actress...

Glenn Close.jpg
Glenn Close is an American actress and producer. She was born on March 19th, 1947 in Greenwich, Connecticut, USA. He father was a doctor and her mother a socialite. Close grew up with two sisters and two brothers. She lived in Belgian Congo in Africa as a teenager. She also spent time in Switzerland studying at St. George’s school.

Close studied drama in college and embarked on a career on the stage in 1974. She performed in a lot of Broadway productions. Her movie debut came in 1982 with The World According to Garp, which earned her the first of seven Academy Award Nominations. So far she has not won an Oscar. But she has won three Tony Awards, three Emmy Awards and Three Golden Globes.

All together Close has made approximately 50 movies so far. But which one is your favorite?

Totals: In October.

I'm honestly shocked to realize how few Glenn Close movies I've seen and liked. I thought her filmography was more robust than it actually is; she moved into supporting roles and, well, kind of junky or obscure films pretty quickly in her career.

  1. DANGEROUS LIAISONS
  2. REVERSAL OF FORTUNE
  3. FATAL ATTRACTION

I guess I could have padded my list with movies like 101 DALMATIONS (which I don't really like) or GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (which I love, but her role is not much more than a cameo).

I don't remember doing that but I think I made a good choice. I think she's a great actress, much underrated and never won an Oscar even though she has been nominated numerous times.

My top 10.

1. Jagged Edge (the first film I saw her in and the one that made me a fan of hers)
2. The World According To Garp
3. Dangerous Liaisons
4. Fatal Attraction
5. The Natural
6. Albert Nobbs
7. The Big Chill
8. Air Force One
9. Reversal of a Fortune
10. The Wife

i like watching the court room scenes as continuity got it all wrong with her suits in court! Blue to brown and back or vice versa
Your other film choice, Fatal Attraction, has another continuity error. The scene when she's in bed after having sex with Michael Douglas, they must have film 2 versions: one when she's sat up in bed with her breasts exposed and another version when they are covered with a blanket. However, when they edited the film, they used a mix of both versions so they keep cutting to her with her breasts out and then covered every few seconds.

@Karin Schill, this time I´ll take the liberty of making two lists, one for my Glenn Close favorite films, and another for "special mentions", movies that I don´t see here but I think people who likes Close may enjoy so much. (PS: The Elephant Movie with her is a TVM, not the David Lynch one)

1- Albert Nobbs (2011)
2- The World According to Garp (1982)
3- Dangerous Liaisons (1988)
4- The House of the Spirits (1993)
5- Fatal Attraction (1987)
6- Reversal of Fortune (1990)
7- Meeting Venus (1991)
8- Cookie´s Fortune (1999)
9- Nine Lives (2005)
10- Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her (2000)

Honorable mentions:
- Paradise Road (1997)
- Something About Amelia (1984) TVM
- Mars Attacks (1996)
- The Wife (2017)
- Sarah (1991) TVM
- Hamlet (1990)
- Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story (1995) TVM
- In the Gloaming (1997) TVM
- The Lion in Winter (2003) TVM

Obviously, Meryl stole away from her (and the other actresses of their generation) the biggest movie parts of the 80s, but Glenn did the same thing with the TV flicks: you won´t see a Hallmark movie done by her ever! Only the best, with a lot of Emmy awards and nominations.

Jagged Edge was great. First watched it at university. Glenn was marvellously mad in Fatal Attraction but, for me, it has to be Dangerous Liaisons. As the Marquise De Merteuil she smashed it, particularly in the scene where she goes mad at John Malkovich. What a screenplay:)

I loved Glenn Close in The Natural. Maybe I’m partial to that role cause I’m a baseball fan but I thought her character was well written and the best one in that movie by far. In a movie filled with terrific actors and actresses you can make the argument that she carried it sometimes. Arguably her best performance

Hope I'm not too late!

1. Jagged Edge - scares the living bejesus out of me - that music!!!
2. Fatal Attraction - what a superb stalker she made!
3. Air Force One - as Madam Vice President!
4. The Wife - subtle role but shows her softer side as the brains of the relationship
5. 101 Dalmatians - although the whole premise of this as an animal lover makes me scream and cry, she was a fantastic Cruella De Vil, even though I wanted to punch her face in.
6. The Wilde Wedding - really entertaining with some other favourites - a movie star playing a movie star
7. The Stepford Wives - spooooky!
8. Dangerous Liaisons - not my favourite type of movie but her costume was fabulous!
9. Mars Attacks! - absolutely hilarious in this role even though the movie itself is like WTF?!
10. Albert Nobbs - she's amazing in this, and it was filmed in Dublin too!

They should have just had one in and one out :giggle:

I haven't seen too many of her films, but I'll list the ones I have seen in order of preference:

Fatal Attraction- She elevated it from a conventional thriller with a one note villainess.
The Jagged Edge
Something About Amelia
Dangerous Liasons
The Natural- Not as good as the book, but she was wonderful.
The World According to Garp
