"T" as he is known is a first rate fellow, and visiting his barber shop is an education as T has "experienced everything that life can throw at him, except death!"
He sounds fascinating. Its funny how so many barbers and hairdressers are great conversationalists.

Credit to T, he actually was quite tactful about by changing of season and, if I recall correctly, said... "I can see that the platinum is taking over brother".
Lol!.. well that doesn't sound as bad as I first thought, he has a good way with words.

I started to turn in my twenties and have never hidden it. But T being a first rate fellow... I'm not turning grey.... I'm putting on my "platinum" plumage!
You're just showing a physical sign of your wisdom Biggie ;)

I believe we were all meant to meet on here :)
I totally agree with this! I’m very thankful for the people I’ve gotten to know on here so far. I know it sounds corny but it’s made a difference in my life.

I still don't understand when some members leave?
I don’t either. I’ve noticed some disappear over the months and it usually happens after some kind of disagreement on a thread and I think that’s ridiculous. Is everything I post right? Of course not. Maybe I think it is in my opinion but to others it might sound stupid. But who cares? To me disagreeing and throwing out conflicting thoughts is part of the fun.

I know I go AWOL at times, but I can never imagine leaving here
I’m glad you feel that way cause I think I speak for everyone reading this when I say we would never let you leave.

I guess things must get too busy for some and they need to move on?
That could be. Or maybe they just get bored.

In my last job we were not permitted to lift anything, which means everything took twice as long to do because we had to use hoists etc ... they were obsessed with protecting our backs, which in retrospect I'm grateful for.
I think that’s good! I’ve seen many, many people hurt their backs over the years. At my job they do stress lifting safely a lot but unfortunately most don’t listen

Oh my goodness :eck: that type of heat is so difficult for me to even imagine right now.
It’s actually only 77 right now at about 5 in the afternoon. I guess we’ve hit a cool front LOL

Thank you  and I do have another of my daft questions especially for you today.
Oh, Lord help me

Its just when I read how hot the weather is where you live, I wondered if you are ever bothered by snakes? Yikes, they terrify me.
They’re everywhere. And yes, they terrify me too. Every time I open my front door I open it very, very slowly because many times I’ve seen one sitting right outside. The association gives us stuff called Snake-Away to put down on the ground and I can tell you for a fact that it does absolutely nothing. It’s supposed to repel them but I notice it doesn’t. But most of the ones down here are non poisonous. Of course, then again I really don’t walk up to them and ask them.

I have no idea if its a word, but I understand the meaning
I do like the word daft. I use it all the time now thanks to you but every time I use it I’m getting blank stares. Maybe it’s not such a common word here in the US? Is it common over there Lashes or is this just your word of choice?

We all need people to lean on at times, its good if you can accept help
I’m not good at leaning. It makes me feel sorry for myself. But I know that sometimes it’s unavoidable and probably for the best. Of course I had to be talked into it.

I think they should make you a manager so you could keep safe in an office .. or would that drive you mad?
I’ve thought about it many times over the years but I’m not really an office person. I’m afraid I would go nuts and drive everyone else in the office insane with me. I just can’t picture not being on the road. I love doing that job so much, despite its challenges.

But then there’s another part of me that says I’m doing this 24 years and the little stuff is starting to add up. My wrists, my ankles, my left knee, nothing serious and the pain goes away but I just notice it’s getting tougher. So maybe it’s time to get off the road. I’m a little conflicted I guess. I’ve never had a work related surgery and I’m proud of that. And I’d like to keep it that way. I had back surgery in 2019 but that was life saving, not work related. Luckily even that has heeled.

We are all good thanks DFF. Times have been very trying these past few weeks, but all is calming down again.:)
I’m glad to hear it’s calming down for you! Have a good week my friend!!

I'm so please how Streetie is looking absolutely splendid! :bravo1: thanks for letting us see her again Michelle.

She has so many leaves and branches :D and she looks quite tall, I have never, ever got any Poinsettia to look like this. I do like that white stand she is on too. Our Streetie is a living legend!

Streetie is indeed a living legend. She is doing well and has lived to see Spring. Hopefully she only has a month left of indoor care before she can get a good pruning and start growing again. This Winter wasn't easy on her unlike my Princess and Duchess who have been babied by me all season.

I wonder if you could take cuttings from her? that's if you wanted to, but I imagine you might already have more than enough plants ;)
Yes, I surely could. These Kalenchoes root easily. I don't want to go overboard with my plants.
They are both alive and still with us in March, so this is good for me. They each sit on separate window sills, they seem to enjoy the natural light .. do you find this with Poinsettias? Biggies leaves have been looking a bit dry and withered recently, but has new ones coming through so hopefully is okay.
As long as they continue to produce new leaves you should be fine. They love the direct light from the window sills, I have mine there as well. I'm glad your duo are doing well. I hope your success continues.

I'm not surprised at this, it must get very confusing
I'm generally good at know who is who but a few have the same style pots that can get confused.

Dare I ask? have you been offered any new Orchids? :hide:
Yes, I had to get some for 2022. There were two discount orchids as the grocery store I had to get. A pinkie and a whitey in a dazzling pot to which I called Dazzler. I have yet to finalize the pinkie's name. I have to stay at a minimum with new orchid purchases this year as I a full family at home.
Yes.."a cup of Orchid" I like this idea and might pinch it for myself.
:)

That's exactly how I feel too.

Obviously if someone is rude or insulting then that's not acceptable, but a disagreement is fine, in fact I think its quite healthy. I enjoy people having different opinions and in the music threads I think it makes it richer if all different types of music are posted, not just my personal choices... am I making any sense here?

Or maybe they just get bored.
That's another reason for leaving too, yes. I guess interests and passions change as we go through the years, so people can loose interest in whatever it was they first joined to discuss and read about.

At my job they do stress lifting safely a lot but unfortunately most don’t listen
I suppose its quicker to lift or carry stuff without sticking to the health and safety rules .. they'll regret it though once their backs start twinging

Everyone I know uses the word "daft". I've never given it much thought before but I think it might be more of a northern word? The accents vary so much in the UK and I suppose that includes the use of some common words too?

Glad to hear you're using it, you might be introducing a brand new word to the American language

I’m not good at leaning. It makes me feel sorry for myself. But I know that sometimes it’s unavoidable and probably for the best.
It just takes practice my friend .. I say this, but I'm the worlds worst at leaning on anyone, I'd rather be leant upon ..Lol!

I’ve thought about it many times over the years but I’m not really an office person. I’m afraid I would go nuts and drive everyone else in the office insane with me. I just can’t picture not being on the road. I love doing that job so much, despite its challenges.

You've done very well not to have a work injury, that's a lot of years of wear and tear on your joints. An ideal solution for you would be to have a robot to lift everything down from your van and you could just walk besides it and knock on your customers doors .. Mmm maybe I'll try and invent something

I had back surgery in 2019 but that was life saving, not work related. Luckily even that has heeled.
What a relief it must be to have that surgery behind you. Scary things are operations.

DFF regarding these snakes who meet you at your door :yikey: do you think they want to come inside? have you ever had one one the house? I'm not trying to scare you my friend, but my imagination is going wild here .. Lol!

My Grandad used to call my eldest brother Dazzler as a term of endearment, sadly he didn't see any of his other grandchildren, but he was thrilled to finally become a granddad .. sorry I've gone off topic here.

Yes, you're going to need to cut down on taking in stray Orchids, either that or save up for a huge mansion to fit them all in ;)

Yes, you’re making perfect sense! I like different opinions on discussions too. It would be pretty boring if everyone agreed on everything.

I guess interests and passions change as we go through the years, so people can loose interest in whatever it was they first joined to discuss and read about.
That happens too. Like take Dallas for example. I’ll always love it. It was a huge part of my childhood but do I have the same interest in it I once did? I would say it’s lessened a little over the years but I think that’s normal as we get older. Our tastes are always changing.

Hopefully no one else reads that last part. I don’t want this to be my last post ever Lashes!

I suppose its quicker to lift or carry stuff without sticking to the health and safety rules .. they'll regret it though once their backs start twinging
snegatif.gif
I used to be guilty of that when I was younger. I wouldn’t listen to the rules when I lifted stuff. But I learned. All idiots learn eventually.

Those sneaky slithery snakes have got wise to the repellent.
The repellent used to work in the beginning. They wouldn’t go near it and I’d put it down all around the perimeter outside but lately I notice it doesn’t work anymore.

Perhaps they just want to be close to you DFF? :D
Oh, I really hope that’s not the case!

Everyone I know uses the word "daft". I've never given it much thought before but I think it might be more of a northern word? The accents vary so much in the UK and I suppose that includes the use of some common words too?
Hmmm, I’m still getting blank stares every time I use “daft” LOL. But I’m not giving up that someone will know what I’m saying one of these times.

The word that drives me nuts is “like.” I can’t stand when people use the word “like” before every word. My niece is guilty of this one. She used the word so many times in one sentence the other day that I had to ask her if she was a Kardashian.

It just takes practice my friend .. I say this, but I'm the worlds worst at leaning on anyone, I'd rather be leant upon ..Lol!
I’d rather no one leans on me either to be honest. I must hate leaning in general LOL

I had a feeling you would say this. You're work or should I say the people you meet, shine through in your words.
It’s quite the dilemma. I get very attached to my customers and for some reason it seems to be mutual. That’s the main reason I never took another position so far.

An ideal solution for you would be to have a robot to lift everything down from your van and you could just walk besides it and knock on your customers doors .. Mmm maybe I'll try and invent something
You’re not that far off my friend. We have robots now in production and the plan is to have them someday do what we do. I’ve seen it online and it’s incredible! They’re already being tested at our headquarters.

What a relief it must be to have that surgery behind you. Scary things are operations.
Worst week of my life. I remember going to the doctor and asking “What’s this lump on my back and why does it hurt so much?” And she looked at it and asked me how long had it been there. I told her I honestly didn’t know so she puts her hands on my shoulders and says “Listen to me. It’s very important you do what I’m about to say. Don’t move. I’ll be right back. You stay right here and don’t move a muscle.” And I’m thinking what’s going on? So she comes back and tells me she just scheduled me for surgery because I have a major infection and I could die in a few days.

So thanks to her quick thinking you’ve gotten to know DFF

DFF regarding these snakes who meet you at your door :yikey: do you think they want to come inside? have you ever had one one the house? I'm not trying to scare you my friend, but my imagination is going wild here .. Lol!
Lashes, the thought of a snake getting in my house scares me more than what I just told you about my surgery. Luckily one has never gotten in my house but it did happen to my neighbor one time. That’s why I open the doors very slowly cause quite often they are lurking. Lizards do get in from time to time and they’re easy to escort out but if a snake ever got in you’d definitely hear me all the way from the UK

I feel the same about BIG BROTHER, I was obsessed with that show and was gutted when it was finally cancelled, but if they decided to bring it back for a new series Im not sure I could be bothered watching it anymore, like you say our tastes change all the time.

I used to be guilty of that when I was younger. I wouldn’t listen to the rules when I lifted stuff. But I learned. All idiots learn eventually.
Yeah, me too. I remember on my orientation week at work being given a lecture by a physiotherapist and I can still hear her words now - "when lifting anything even a feather, bend the knees!"

The repellent used to work in the beginning. They wouldn’t go near it and I’d put it down all around the perimeter outside but lately I notice it doesn’t work anymore.
Oh no. I wonder if snakes dislike salt? I know snails do, although they're nothing like snails are they..Lol!.

I do remember once reading that they dislike the odour of onions and garlic like Vampires do, so my friend just keep eating onions and garlic and you'll be fine

The word that drives me nuts is “like.” I can’t stand when people use the word “like” before every word. My niece is guilty of this one. She used the word so many times in one sentence the other day that I had to ask her if she was a Kardashian.
Yes! it so irritating!.... Like I was going shopping like, and this guy said to me like , so I said like .. :fist:

Another one I've noticed recently is "so". e.g....

Which country do you come from? - So I live in the UK
How old are you? - So I will be 25 next month
What job do you do? - So I work in an office as an officer manager .... aaarggghhh!!

I’d rather no one leans on me either to be honest. I must hate leaning in general LOL
Lol!

It’s quite the dilemma. I get very attached to my customers and for some reason it seems to be mutual. That’s the main reason I never took another position so far.
People make all the difference to ones job don't they? and its even more special if they appreciate what you do and respond the way your customers do to you. Its good to be appreciated :)

You’re not that far off my friend. We have robots now in production and the plan is to have them someday do what we do. I’ve seen it online and it’s incredible! They’re already being tested at our headquarters.

Lizards are ok with me, they're kind of cute in a way, although if I suddenly found one in our house I might shriek . Yes, they tend to pound that into our heads at my job too. We have so many injured people that are out right now and most of these injuries sound like it’s their own fault. Which country do you come from? - So I live in the UK

People make all the difference to ones job don't they? and its even more special if they appreciate what you do and respond the way your customers do to you. Its good to be appreciated :)

That office saved my life. I thanked them so many times. That all happened so fast and it was a scary time. I didn’t even realize how sick I was until they told me.

Thank goodness you're still with us DFF , the world would be a poorer place without you in it.
Thank you Lashes!! I really appreciate you saying that my friend.

And so true too!!

Lizards are ok with me, they're kind of cute in a way, although if I suddenly found one in our house I might shriek .
I’m not a fan! I find them kind of creepy myself. But of course they would never harm us

We used to live next door to someone who was considering getting a snake as a pet, I was horrified and then he changed his mind and said he wanted a monkey i (he was a touch odd) finally in the end he settled for a dog .. phew!
I think I would take the dog myself. Not a hard choice for me, nope

We are very quietly approaching 4900 posts!

Will you be putting her back outside once the weather improves, will it be warm enough? i know how much she loves being out there in the fresh air watching the world go by :)

Yes, Streetie and my other Poinsettias will be out enjoying the sun in Mother Nature this Spring and Summer. They have about a month to go before they can go outside in my area. I want them to live their best lives and last year they were so very pleased with their outdoor lives.

How are you doing with your pruning skills, do you feel more confident doing it now?

Fairly well. My poinsetttias will need a good pruning once they go outside. They are getting leggy. Michelle is leggy too but in a hot way. I just had to add that. ;)
Thanks Michelle. I'll keep you updated.

Very good! I do enjoy your updates. Did your Snowdrops appear this year?
Of course you did! :D
I'm trying to scale back with my orchid purchases. Two so far this year so that isn't too bad. :embarrassed:

Yes, you're going to need to cut down on taking in stray Orchids, either that or save up for a huge mansion to fit them all in ;)
This is true. It takes me about two hours every other week to water them, most of that time is them just sitting collecting water in their soakings but I don't want to make this more work for poor little me. I do enjoy it though.

Now you’ve got me wondering if I should put onions and garlic all around the perimeter of the house. I’m sure this would get some interesting rumors going by the neighbors.
It all depends on who scares you the most DFF ... the snakes or the neighbours :D

I suppose you could always eat a lot of onions and garlic to keep the slithery creatures away, but then its unlikely anyone would want to go near you

This made me laugh cause I’m guilty of this one. I can throw a few too many “So’s” in there at times but I tend to catch it when I’m doing it. But I notice I don’t say it when I’m answering questions. I do it when I’m telling a story to someone.
I've gone and put my foot in my mouth with that one :giggle: .

I have to say that I'm guilty of using the word 'right' too often, its a bad habit which I can't drop. e.g. right, I'm off to work; right, I'll go and put the kettle on; right, I'll go and mow the lawns etc .. I even drive myself mad with it.

That office saved my life. I thanked them so many times. That all happened so fast and it was a scary time. I didn’t even realize how sick I was until they told me.
That's something you'll never forget :)

We are very quietly approaching 4900 posts!
Yes we are, well spotted. :hats:

Yes, Streetie and my other Poinsettias will be out enjoying the sun in Mother Nature this Spring and Summer. They have about a month to go before they can go outside in my area. I want them to live their best lives and last year they were so very pleased with their outdoor lives.
Its great they get to experience the fresh air, I think mine would wither and die if I put them outside, our weather is far cooler than yours.

Fairly well. My poinsetttias will need a good pruning once they go outside. They are getting leggy.
You sound so confident and professional about the pruning :D

Michelle is leggy too but in a hot way. I just had to add that. ;)
Oh pfft! ..

Did your Snowdrops appear this year?
They did and as always they cheered me up, I was going to take some photos but thought it would get boring for you all seeing the same snowdrops snaps every year

We have quite a few Tulips out this year and I didn't realise how they close their blooms when it rains and then open them again once the rain stops, how clever! .. this is all new to me.

I'm trying to scale back with my orchid purchases. Two so far this year so that isn't too bad.
You're doing very well my friend, I know its not easy for you to walk past the unwanted plants, so well done! .. so far ;)

I'm glad that name has a connection for you. So you never met him, your Grandad's brother?
Sorry, I didn't explain that very well. It was my Grandad who called my eldest brother (his first grandson) Dazzler, sadly I didn't get to meet that Grandad as he passed away before I was born.

This is true. It takes me about two hours every other week to water them, most of that time is them just sitting collecting water in their soakings but I don't want to make this more work for poor little me. I do enjoy it though.
Yes, you have enough to do without adding more work :)

How is Orkie and Pearl?
They're both fairly quiet at the moment, I think they're having a bit of a hibernation period until the weather improves, thanks for asking.

Has spring arrived in your world Michelle? Are the daffs, snowdrops and blossoms out yet?

Yes I'm the same, I suppose our tastes change once we get past our twenties
Yes, they really do. I was always warned about this when I was younger but I didn’t believe it. Now I notice it happening. My tastes in food, TV shows, movies, music, even people, it’s all changed a lot.

I watch lots of stuff now that I use to dismiss. Plus, I've picked up a lot of recommendations from other members on this site, shows I'd previously dismissed
This happens a lot with me also. I’ve found many movies and shows I’ve never even seen before because of this site.

THE FALL .. have you seen this series DFF?
Yes, I do remember this show. And like you I didn’t watch it back then. I found it only recently and I thought it was very good. This happens a lot with me. People will tell me to watch something and I never get around to it, only to find it again years later and find out they were right.

:Clol: ... if you admit to that then you'd have to change your name ,Lol!
Oh no, we can’t have that!! Not the dreaded name change. But it would be fun to confuse people though.

I know, I'll never live that one down, those poor little snails
Oh, that’s okay Lashes! We’ve all accidentally killed something or other. Your behavior has been good since you got out so I’m sure they’re not watching you anymore.

Oh no. May I ask if employees are off work due to an injury do they get in trouble with the management for not lifting correctly? ... another of my daft questions :loon:
I do love your daft questions!
I think if you have an injury due to lifting incorrectly it counts against you negatively on your review the next time. It’s kind of just a slap on the wrist. I think they take pity on the injured somewhat. Injuries are such a huge part of our job that I guess they figure they have to put up with it or there would be no one left.

Not for me of course though. I was laying here after my surgery with my back all bandaged and getting text messages, “When are you coming back? Can you lift yet? Can you walk? Can you run? Can you come back and answer phones on light duty? What did the doctor say?”

It all depends on who scares you the most DFF ... the snakes or the neighbours :D
Sadly, I honestly have to think about that one

I suppose you could always eat a lot of onions and garlic to keep the slithery creatures away, but then its unlikely anyone would want to go near you
If it keeps the snakes away, then it’s well worth it in my opinion LOL

I have to say that I'm guilty of using the word 'right' too often, its a bad habit which I can't drop. e.g. right, I'm off to work; right, I'll go and put the kettle on; right, I'll go and mow the lawns etc .. I even drive myself mad with it.
I don’t think I do that one. I say “You know?” a lot when I’m talking to someone. I put it at the end of a lot of sentences. And I must be doing it my entire life cause my Mom used to fall on the floor laughing over it. It’s gotten a lot better but it was so bad when I was a teenager.

Another one I do is “Uh.” I say it an awful lot in between words. I hate doing it but I notice it happening quite often. I wouldn’t mind if it was just “Uh” but sometimes it’s “Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh” and it makes me feel like an idiot.

Its great they get to experience the fresh air, I think mine would wither and die if I put them outside, our weather is far cooler than yours.

I'm sure by mid-May your outdoors will be suitable. They do like the sun and fresh air.
You sound so confident and professional about the pruning :D
Maybe I'm foolish as I've only done it last year. We'll see how this year goes. I'm a bit nervous about it as Streetie as never been pruned.
They did and as always they cheered me up, I was going to take some photos but thought it would get boring for you all seeing the same snowdrops snaps every year
I never get bored of your images my friend. Never! :hugs:I love your snowdrops.
We have quite a few Tulips out this year and I didn't realise how they close their blooms when it rains and then open them again once the rain stops, how clever! .. this is all new to me.

What colour are the if I may ask? It is fun to see them close and re-open their blooms.

You're doing very well my friend, I know its not easy for you to walk past the unwanted plants, so well done! .. so far ;)
It's really hard indeed. My heartstrings get pulled so easily with plants as they can't cry for help.

Sorry, I didn't explain that very well. It was my Grandad who called my eldest brother (his first grandson) Dazzler, sadly I didn't get to meet that Grandad as he passed away before I was born.
Oh, okay. I read that wrong. :crazyme:Remember Michelle is a hot blonde, that happens. Well hottest but we know that. I'm sorry to hear that you never met your Grandad. At least you have this interesting story to keep his memory alive. :)
Yes, you have enough to do without adding more work :)
So many of my orchid family are blooming at this time.

Both plant towers. It's a shame I don't have a more showy place to display them at this time. The lights work so much better on these shelves. They seems very happy.

They're both fairly quiet at the moment, I think they're having a bit of a hibernation period until the weather improves, thanks for asking.

They need their rest between blooming.
Has spring arrived in your world Michelle? Are the daffs, snowdrops and blossoms out yet?

Spring is here. The crocuses are done as well as any snowdrops. We have tulips and daffodils in blooms now. The trees are in bud.

Who about in the Land of Long Lashes? Are you getting ready to start your garden?
