This isn't true. Both Jane and Ronnie were devastated at the death of Christine Reagan who was still born or died a few hours after birth (full details are a bit sketchy). Many say the grief they both felt was a factor in their divorce about a year after the death. Reagan refused to talk about losing their child and Jane was left to cope with the loss alone. It was a difficult time for both of them.

The Blue Veil is an excellent film, a real tear-jerker. I saw the film some years after I had seen the scene that was used in Falcon Crest and it was cleverly used to explain the twist about Angela being Richard's son.

Of course, Ronald and Jane suffered for the loss of their daughter.
I mean that it was a very painful memory for Jane and that although we always read about Blue Veil it was never published that Jane had experienced a similar situation in real life.
By the way when she talks to Richard about Danny in 921 Danny's song
Angela comments that she has mixed feelings when she finds out that a son she thought had died was alive and that she had to get used to it.
Let's face it, Angela wasn't very motherly.

I often wonder how the scene would have been had Sophia accepted the part of Francesca. I really like her as an actor but I not sure she could have pulled it off with the same level of panache that Gina managed to achieve.

The producers planned a special guest appearance by SOPHIA LOREN for 13 episodes this season. Rumor has it she was supposed to play an "
evil Gioberti relative; other sources say she was the first choice for the part of Francesca Gioberti, which later went to GINA LOLLOBRIGIDA. It
was rumored that MEL FERRER's and CLIFF ROBERTSON's contracts were terminated so LORIMAR could get the necessary money to pay
SOPHIA LOREN. A LORIMAR press spokesperson mentioned in those days: "SOPHIA will be a revolting newcomer in the style of 'Dynasty's'
JOAN COLLINS.
SOPHIA will wear the most expensive costumes we can find, and we will make sure she will rock the valley when she starts fighting Angela." Although it is no secret the Italian diva wanted to star on a popular U.S. soap opera and had gone through negotiations with LORIMAR for a role as J.R.'s mistress on "Dallas" unsuccessfully before, the "Falcon Crest" plans never worked out either.
There are unconfirmed rumors JANE WYMAN would have refused to stay on the show if SOPHIA had been hired because JANE felt there had not been enough room for two divas on the show.

When Chase was in the hospital I always visited him.
He never wanted to seduce Maggie and although he loved her, she never wanted to interfere in the marriage.
When Richard pretends to be too sick to set up Pamela, neither Chase nor sweet Maggie bother to come over to check on her.
